She is the Side Character! — Watch Her Change her fate!

”Ran Chen! You’re unbelievable.” Chen Yijia tightly hugged Ah Chen, a bit anxious, ”You have to believe me, I’m really straight,” as she said this, she secretly glanced at a certain spot in the class, seeing it was empty, she let out a sigh of relief, ”How could I possibly like girls?”

Students in the front row started laughing.

Seeing Chen Yijia was genuinely anxious, Ah Chen nodded repeatedly: ”I know, I believe you’re very straight.”

She noticed the spot Chen Yijia had just glanced at belonged to the class monitor, a top student from a well-off family, named Wen Zhixi. He ranked first in the grade and was taken by Zhuo Qiaoqing to a physics competition this time.

But it was a case of unrequited love; Wen Zhixi had no feelings for Chen Yijia, even though they were part of the same circle.

They were still high school students; thinking about these things now seemed premature. Perhaps this was just an experience of adolescence, something that didn’t necessarily need results for many.

Chen Yijia finally stopped, scratching her head: ”If only I were a top student too.”

”Actually, your grades aren’t bad; you’re considered top student by many.” Ah Chen comforted. Chen Yijia’s grades had always been in the top ten of the class, similar to the Commissioner. As long as she kept it up, she was bound for a top university.

However, compared to Wen Zhixi, there was still a big gap.

And Wen Zhixi had already secured a guaranteed admission slot.

”Quite a gap indeed.” Chen Yijia looked a bit downcast, but quickly thought of other fun things, as if the previous low mood was just an illusion.

”How is Wei Yue’s condition?” She tried asking, as everyone in the class knew Wei Yue was sick, after all, Wei Yue had taken sick leave. Students who had good relationships with Wei Yue had even gone to the hospital to visit him.

She didn’t go, not to mention that she wasn’t familiar with Wei Yue, plus because of Ran Chen, she wouldn’t go, and lastly, she didn’t like Wei Yue as a person. Ever since kindergarten, there had been students who took sick leave for serious illnesses, but it wasn’t mandatory for the class to visit.

She asked mainly out of concern for her desk mate.

She heard recently Teacher Ran went to the hospital every day, he wasn’t this attentive even to his own desk mate.

The Commissioner actually hadn’t shared much about his family situation with Chen Yijia, but Chen Yijia was clever, and combined with how Wei Yue always came to find the Commissioner to play only to be rejected numerous times yet kept trying, she found Wei Yue’s behavior somewhat annoying.

Only later when the matter escalated did Chen Yijia find out what was going on, though at that time Zhuo Qiaoqing had no energy to deal with those issues, and public opinion was overwhelmingly one-sided.

Even if Chen Yijia wanted to speak some fair words for the Commissioner, her voice was too small.

”Not really sure.” Ah Chen showed a cold demeanor.

Chen Yijia patted her shoulder to show comfort, and finally said: ”Focus on studying.”

Seeing Ah Chen laugh, she laughed heartily too: ”I also need to focus on studying, our grades are about the same. Which school do you want to apply to? How about filling in the same school then?”

At this moment, Chen Yijia decided that it was rare to have classmates she could talk to like this, why not fill in the same school. She actually had no particular idea about which school to go to in the future, and Wen Zhixi’s figure flashed in her mind, she quickly shook her head. Even though they were in the same circle, Wen Zhixi had no interest in her, it was just her unrequited love.

There’s no need to follow someone she’s just unrequitedly in love with, it wouldn’t mean anything.

Rather, she could choose to go with her desk mate, they got along, studying with each other would be pleasant.

Ah Chen said: ”I’ll just apply to a local school.”

There were quite a few good universities locally, among them was one that was nationally ranked, and not many students in the class could get into this school.

”Then I must work hard,” Chen Yijia’s expression turned serious, ”Scores have been rising these years; if I slack off, I might not get in.”

Though she wouldn’t drop out of the top ten, her grades weren’t as stable as her desk mate’s, which was really risky.

”I need to get back to studying, I won’t chat with you anymore, otherwise if I don’t get in, it’ll be a joke.” With that, Chen Yijia grabbed a book and got to it.

Amusing Ah Chen but she didn’t stop her, instead encouraging: ”Keep it up! Looking forward to us getting into the same school.”

Chen Yijia was filled with energy, the following time was all excitement.

There was a sports class in the afternoon; luckily the sports teacher wasn’t sick, the classmates rushed out in a swarm, like wild horses unleashed.

The campus was blooming with the flowers of youth, vibrant and lively.

As the class was about to end, Ah Chen and Chen Yijia went to return the sports equipment, on the way they saw students gathered, so Chen Yijia immediately pulled Ah Chen to join the crowd, still asking the others: ”What happened? What’s the excitement?”

The boy who was being patted on the shoulder saw two pretty girls behind, stammering: ”Someone’s fighting, really fierce, called security to pull people apart.” As he spoke, he helped create space for Ah Chen and Chen Yijia to squeeze into the front row.

Chen Yijia didn’t forget to say thank you, making the boy’s face flush: ”You’re welcome.”

At that time, Ah Chen and Chen Yijia finally saw the main actors of the fight. Three boys were forcefully holding another boy, all with visible injuries, but obviously the boy being attacked looked more unfortunate.

His eyes were red, looking pitiful.

Chen Yijia was stunned for a moment upon seeing this boy, Ah Chen immediately captured the emotion and casually asked: ”You know him?”

Chen Yijia nodded gently, whispering in her ear: ”Yes, his background is quite pitiful.”

Ah Chen looked at the boy pinned to the ground, then at the other three boys, a bit silent, as she realized the heavier injuries were actually on those three boys.

But on the surface, the one pinned down seemed bullied.

Sure enough, after being separated, the three boys continued to be reprimanded, wanting to say something but didn’t know how to.

Ah Chen chuckled silently, a wolf cub that didn’t make a sound but knew how to bite, managing to make everyone pity him, thinking he’s pitiful.

Perhaps sensing Ah Chen’s gaze, the boy who looked pitiful glanced at her, still looking pitiful, like a boy bullied by the whole world.

”His name is Li Feiwei.”

”His mom left when he was very young, his dad has a bad temper, so he became timidly submissive, everyone wants to bully him.” On the way back to class, Chen Yijia, seeing Ah Chen interested in the freshman’s situation, shared gossip, ”He often gets blocked by bullies at the school gate for money, coming to school with injuries, definitely beaten by those thugs.”

Other than that, Chen Yijia didn’t know much, she again immersed herself in studying.

Today was Wei Yue’s birthday, after school, Ah Chen went to the office to wait for Ran Zhengfeng.

Sitting in the car, Ran Zhengfeng told her they were going to pick up a cake: ”Today is Yuanyuan’s birthday, we’ll go celebrate with her later. Chenchen, did you prepare a gift? If not, Dad will take you to the store to buy one.”

Ah Chen still sat in the back seat: ”Then I’m not going.”

Ran Zhengfeng was speechless, feeling a bit unhappy: ”Yuanyuan is so sick, barely having a birthday, do you have to do this? When can you be a bit more sensible?”

Ah Chen repeated: ”I won’t go to the hospital, Dad, just send me home.”

”No, I already agreed with Yuanyuan on the time, it’s her birthday today, no matter what, I have to go to the hospital first.” As Ran Zhengfeng was about to start the car, Ah Chen pushed the door open.

”Then I’ll go home myself.”

Watching Ah Chen walk away, Ran Zhengfeng frowned slightly, choosing not to chase her, drove to the cake shop.
