She is the Side Character! — Watch Her Change her fate!

Shen Zheng’an sat to the side, writing his wish on the paper: May all your wishes come true.

As he picked up the pen, he unexpectedly wrote these words, though at first he intended to write that he wanted to spend a lifetime with her.

He glanced across, not knowing what wish she had made.

Ah Chen rolled up her paper, sensing Shen Zheng’an’s attention and asked, ”What wish did you make?”

”They say if you speak it out loud, it won’t come true,” he said, quickly rolling up his paper.

Ah Chen nodded and slipped her paper into the river lantern: ”True.”

She noticed Shen Zheng’an staring at her river lantern for a long time, not sure what he was looking at.

The lantern viewing ended, and Ah Chen got into the carriage.

Shen Zheng’an watched her leave and then softly asked those around him, ”Have you been keeping an eye on that river lantern? When it goes out, retrieve it.”

After all, the lanterns would be ruined anyway. Bringing it back to take a look wouldn’t hurt.

But not long after Ah Chen left in the carriage, she called for it to stop.

She left Lan Xin and the driver in the carriage, came to the lakeside, pointed her finger to a spot in the distance, and before long, a flower lantern fell into her hand. From inside, she retrieved the paper, unfolded it, and it read: May all your wishes come true.

No wonder he was afraid to show her! It was that sentence, and in such an address too!

Then she rolled the paper back up and put it inside, and the once extinguished river lantern lit up again as she set it back onto the water.

Walking lightly back to the carriage, Lan Xin could sense that Miss Chu was now very happy.

Miss Chu had just gone to the water, but she didn’t dare ask more, nor did she dare to peek.

Even though she didn’t know what had happened, it was good news that Miss Chu was in a good mood.

Inside the carriage, Ah Chen’s face was full of smiles. Seeing in advance meant it was ineffective, it was just a way to fool the world; in truth, these things were ineffective.

It’s merely a blessing and a yearning.

But secretly knowing the answer was quite satisfying.

Shen Zheng’an also had no intention of returning to the mansion until his men brought him a lantern that had already gone out. He carefully retrieved the piece of paper inside, holding his breath, and then slowly unfolded it: May you have your heart’s desire.

Boom——

Shen Zheng’an’s mind seemed to explode, so she does think of him in her heart?

Inside the carriage, Shen Zheng’an’s mind was in turmoil, longing to have the driver race forward, as if there were many things he wanted to say to her, forgetting they could still meet within the space.

”Young master, recently there have been some rumors in Capital City about Miss Chu.”

”What rumors?” After replacing the river lantern, Shen Zheng’an had already cooled down, although only externally, as his heart was still wildly beating for her thoughts.

”There’s a rumor that Miss Chu has someone in her heart, and he’s skilled at gardening.”

”Miss Chu is also skilled with flowers but has never shown them to anyone, only the Chief of Staff’s daughter has received one.”

”Recently, many have visited Miss Chu, some for the flowers. After failing to achieve their aim, some took their sick plants to her, and she helped cure them.”

His subordinate kept talking, but all Shen Zheng’an could think about was Miss Chu having someone in her heart who’s skilled in gardening.

Is it him?

It should be him, right?

He’s indeed skilled at growing flowers.

”Young master?”

”Young master?”

Shen Zheng’an finally snapped out of it: ”Nothing, let’s go back.”

Rushing back home, after a quick wash, Shen Zheng’an instructed to not be disturbed and retreated to his room, mentally entering the space.

Not seeing the person he hoped for, he saw Jiang Zhi and a few of Jiang Zhi’s men bandaging wounds.

”Your Highness encountered an assassination attempt?” Shen Zheng’an asked.

Jiang Zhi noted the unconcealed joy on his face, knowing it was the Lantern Festival, guessing the young man probably joined and met Miss Chu.

”Yes, but just a dying struggle.” Jiang Zhi was holding a crystal core pendant, precisely the amulet Ah Chen had made from the crystal core before. ”If it wasn’t for this amulet tonight, I might have suffered.”

He played with the crystal core, on which there wasn’t much change.

According to what Miss Chu said before, this amulet would suffice for a long time.

When someone launched a sneak attack, even though he reacted quickly and dodged, if not for this amulet, the arrow would have scraped across the heart, embedding into flesh, creating countless problems.

”We must thank Miss Chu. Do you know if Miss Chu has rested?”

Shen Zheng’an was speechless: ”How should I know?”

Even if there was some progress between them, it wasn’t that fast.

Jiang Zhi chuckled; he was kidding, just teasing Shen Zheng’an.

”Unexpected events happened tonight.” He recalled the happenings at the Lantern Festival, deciding to share them with Jiang Zhi.

After hearing, Jiang Zhi indeed cursed Shen Zhengjie and his siblings, saying they deserved it.

”If I tell my fourth brother about this, Shen Zhengjie and his sister’s lives will likely become hard, and they won’t be able to trouble you anytime soon.”

”Except that the Daoist by their side isn’t simple. According to my fourth brother’s character, enduring would be expected if having the Daoist’s assistance. At least he’ll be much more courteous to Shen Zhengjie.”

”But just temporarily, it can’t achieve anything. The siblings won’t fare well; even if things succeed, they won’t. With us here, we won’t let those siblings succeed,” Shen Zheng’an said, ”The rift is there, and they could collapse anytime. Moreover, who knows their next step.”

”Just now you looked very pleased. Did something good happen?” Jiang Zhi changed the topic, curious about this instead.

Shen Zheng’an blushed slightly: ”It’s nothing, just watched the lanterns with Miss Chu.”

Then he secretly saw what wish she made.

This was something he mustn’t tell others.

”Your Highness, rest well. Having spent a day not returning to the Capital City, some can’t wait to keep you there. Resting well is the only way to deal with it.”

”I’m going to water flowers.”

Shen Zheng’an said, grabbing the watering can and leaving.

Jiang Zhi didn’t stop him, just smiling: ”When you’re done, roast a few rabbits for us.”

They had all tasted Shen Zheng’an’s cooking before, and having put effort into it, the taste was unforgettable.

”Alright,” Shen Zheng’an agreed.

When he returned from watering the plants, he found Ah Chen in the space, sitting before the bamboo house watching him water the plants, having no clue how long she’d been watching.

Recalling her wish, Shen Zheng’an’s heart couldn’t stop racing.

”Later, some rabbits need roasting. Want to try a bit?” He came before Ah Chen; now, even calling her Miss Chu ceased.

Ah Chen nodded: ”Sure.”

”And make some mushroom soup?” Shen Zheng’an added.

Ah Chen nodded with a smile: ”I’ll make the soup.”

Mushroom soup was what she was best at.

Jiang Zhi heard this and took note, for it was the first time he saw her wanting to cook something herself.

It reminded him of their initial meeting on the deserted island, where after saving him, she mentioned hunting in the forest, catching fish in the sea but never intended to do it herself.

It was as if, on the deserted island without others, she wouldn’t need to eat at all.

He actually thought Miss Chu probably didn’t need to eat at all.
