She is the Side Character! — Watch Her Change her fate!

”The flowers in the garden seem to be no match for the ones in Miss Chu’s basket,” Zuo Lanshuang said, unable to take her eyes off those roses. Who wouldn’t like such beautiful flowers?

It’s one thing not to like Chu Chen, but the flowers in her hands were still exquisite.

Thinking this, Zuo Lanshuang suddenly felt a shock. Her heart seemed to have calmed earlier, but just this thought, and that restless feeling surged up again, almost giving her the impulse to strangle Chu Chen. She stepped back two steps in fright, her expression showing some confusion. But soon her expression stabilized, as if nothing had happened.

”Of course,” Ah Chen spoke at this moment. ”These flowers weren’t grown by just anyone; in my heart, they are the most beautiful.”

This statement caught Zuo Lanshuang’s attention again, and she frowned. It seemed that this person was quite unusual, no?

”I wonder who grew them?” Zuo Lanshuang asked.

Ah Chen had a faint smile on her face, but it was clear to everyone that thinking of this person made her happy. Something Zuo Lanshuang couldn’t imagine — her words were quite bold: ”My sweetheart.”

Zuo Lanshuang’s eyes widened, and she had already forgotten about her inner agitation.

Sweetheart?

Lan Xin was also stunned. Wasn’t this flower grown by the master? So... her eyes lit up. Oh, she should’ve thought of this earlier.

A capable person like Miss Chu, whose house couldn’t she live in? Why had she chosen to live in her master’s?

Anyone could help her grow flowers, but it had to be her master.

The master sent flowers, and Miss Chu had never refused them.

Upon reflection, it was clear her master was quite different around Miss Chu.

Yet Zuo Lanshuang found it hard to believe. Chu Chen had a sweetheart? That surely wasn’t the Sixth Prince. Since returning to the capital, the Sixth Prince had been quite busy, let alone visiting Chu Chen. So, it shouldn’t be the Sixth Prince?

Still, Zuo Lanshuang wanted to confirm further: ”I wonder who Miss Chu’s sweetheart is? When the good news comes, might I have the honor to drink wedding wine?”

”It’s not Jiang,” Ah Chen said with a smile, practically laying her cards on the table.

Before, she felt something was wrong with Zuo Lanshuang. As soon as they met, she sensed it; someone had cast a magic spell on her. Whether or not the person was like that, inviting her this time was a result of the spell. Since they targeted her, not retaliating wasn’t her style.

Zuo Lanshuang felt a burst of joy. It wasn’t the Sixth Prince after all, right? Wasn’t the Sixth Prince named Jiang Zhi?

Even if that agitation surged up again, Zuo Lanshuang forcibly suppressed it.

Chu Chen was no longer an enemy, so why would she trouble her?

But it was only suppressed for a moment. After all, she was under a magic spell, something that sheer willpower couldn’t resist.

Strolling through the Hundred Flower Garden, Zuo Lanshuang oscillated between clarity and restlessness. When clear-headed, she felt her condition was off, but the clarity was too brief to think much. Many times, she wanted to do something, urgently. But at the same time, she knew if she did something, it might ruin her reputation.

She had decided too — that she wouldn’t do anything on the first meeting, and just endure it.

In the Hundred Flower Garden, Ah Chen also encountered someone. The silly expression on the person’s face during their last meeting hadn’t been forgotten.

This person was Shen Nanqiao.

Shen Nanqiao behaved as if he didn’t recognize her, chatting and laughing with familiar noblewomen, only greeting Zuo Lanshuang, behaving politely.

After flower viewing, Ah Chen and a somewhat dazed Zuo Lanshuang walked out of the Hundred Flower Garden.

Just as Zuo Lanshuang was about to board the carriage, Ah Chen took a pink rose from her basket and handed it over: ”Miss Zuo kept staring at my flowers, so I’ll give you one, but that’s it.”

Zuo Lanshuang originally didn’t want it. Jokingly, she was the Chief of Staff’s daughter. No matter how beautiful, no matter how fragrant the flowers were, she wouldn’t desire them. Yet she took it uncontrollably.

The moment she received it, her previously dazed mind cleared instantly, and she recalled everything from the past and her earlier behavior in the Hundred Flower Garden with perfect clarity.

This time, she was entirely clear-headed; she could confirm that something had been wrong with her recently.

Zuo Lanshuang stood there in shock, subconsciously handing the flower to her main maid, and then that agitation surged up again, frightening her into tightly gripping the pink rose, not daring to let go.

She glanced at the carriage that had already left decisively, pursed her lips, and got into the carriage, staring at the pink rose in her hand.

Time and again she put it down and picked it up, confirming this pink rose was very unusual, allowing her to maintain her usual clarity and rationality.

She had been plotted against, and the methods were quite exceptional.

This person not only wanted to plot against her but against Chu Chen as well, if her speculation was correct?

Should be said, using her hand to deal with Chu Chen.

The other party certainly didn’t know about Chu Chen’s uniqueness, not that she knew either, if not for this pink rose in her hand.

But the apparent identity of Chu Chen, who would be worth scheming against?

”Miss, what’s wrong?”

Zuo Lanshuang looked at her main maid at her side, recalling the maid’s similar recent condition. If it was only her who was off, the maid wouldn’t have failed to tell her parents. It was in this way that her situation had gone unnoticed.

Zuo Lanshuang tried plucking a petal and placing it in her maid’s hand, watching as her maid’s eyes gradually turned clear just as they were about to clear, she took the petal away, and the maid returned to her previous state. Ultimately, she still gave the petal to her maid.

”Put it in the sachet and don’t make a sound of this matter,” she instructed.

There was a coldness in Zuo Lanshuang’s eyes. She didn’t have a gentle nature. Since the instigators dared to plot against her, they would bear her retribution.

Chu Chen was no ordinary person who merely gave her this rose as a reminder, showing little favor towards her.

But it didn’t stop her from planning what to do next.

She didn’t know what she had been blinded by, but with this pink rose on her, there shouldn’t be any issues now. Even the instigators probably wouldn’t notice anything different, perhaps another reason why Chu Chen gave her that rose?

No matter what, once she resolves this issue, she’ll find an opportunity to visit.

Before that, she must investigate thoroughly who had plotted against her.

Whatever they intended for her, she would return in kind.

Perhaps after, she should invite Chu Chen out a few times — only in this way could she better trace and uncover the identity of the people behind this.

The packet of medicine her maid held was quite potent.

If the aim was Chu Chen, then the other significant character should be male. She even faintly felt, this medicine was intended not only for Chu Chen but also for herself. Thinking of this, Zuo Lanshuang’s eyes reddened, wondering who could be so ruthless, intent on destroying her.

”Miss, should we inform the lady about this?” The maid, now clear-headed, was sweating cold sweat down her back.

”I’ll find Mother once we return,” Zuo Lanshuang said. Given her capabilities, if she made things explode, cleaning up might also be troublesome; it was better to inform Mother.

This matter couldn’t simply pass like this.

Moreover, her condition later should still be resolved with Chu Chen’s help. The other party only gave pink rose today, perhaps also wanting to use her to give those schemers a lesson.

Being used, Zuo Lanshuang wasn’t angry, being used by capable people differed greatly from being plotted.

Besides, Chu Chen’s sweetheart wasn’t Jiang, so they weren’t likely to be rivals.

Her true opponent might just be those behind the scheming.

”Miss Chu, Miss Zuo seemed strange today,” spoke Lan Xin within the carriage. ”It might be better to avoid her; she doesn’t seem quite kind.”

”She held deep animosity towards you.”

Ah Chen, casually plucking off rose petals, chuckled carelessly, ”Soon, it will be gone.”

It should already be gone now, she thought.

Lan Xin was bewildered, not understanding.
