She is the Side Character! — Watch Her Change her fate!

Chapter 229: Chapter 229: Real World: 997 Is Astonished!

[Host, where is this?]

In the last world, Ah Chen waited for Jiang Xiang to pass away naturally, then took his soul and left the world.

The next moment, 997 was about to ask the host if they should directly start the next world, but then suddenly everything went dark, and he couldn’t sense anything. When he finally could sense his surroundings again, he found himself in a strange place.

This place... how to describe it, it’s somewhat desolate, a bit strange and unusual. It’s not exactly quiet, but the only sound that could be heard was the howling of the wind.

He looked around and indeed felt he was right; there seemed to be no other living beings here besides the host.

However, there were plants, many bamboos, and mushrooms, and only these two kinds, but they were growing quite well.

[My hometown.] Ah Chen answered.

She took out the soil she got from the last world and tossed it out. The soil fell to a place and automatically integrated with this world. As for the species gifted by that world consciousness, she temporarily didn’t take it out, as the current environment was not suitable for species to live.

Feeling that this world was restored a bit more, Ah Chen smiled happily. She didn’t know how long had passed, and she didn’t need to remember; time was meaningless to her.

She only cared about when this place would be fully repaired, when more plants could be planted, and when animals could survive here.

Looking at the thriving bamboos and mushrooms she planted, she felt quite pleased.

She found a clean stone to sit on, letting the clouds drift and the cold wind blow. 997 silently watched, without any intention to urge her.

Suddenly, 997 sensed some movement around, and then he saw beams of light descending, all transforming into familiar faces. Who else could it be but Ah Chen sitting on the stone slab?

One host, two hosts, three hosts... so many hosts, no, rather so many Sub Souls of the host, it was impossible to count, more and more of them. 997 was flabbergasted, had he discovered another secret of the host? No, maybe it was because after getting familiar, the host was willing to share her secret?

After these Sub Souls appeared, they all took a handful of soil and threw it into the air. Then they also took out some soul fragments, and as those fragments drifted over, 997 realized that these soul fragments were all different, at least not the fragments of the person he followed with this host.

[Host, you make me feel very unfamiliar like this.]

Ah Chen laughed: [You just need to get familiar with it.]

[Isn’t this to bring you over to get familiar with it? After all, we should be collaborating for a long time, right?]

[True.] 997 gradually calmed down, indeed, the host brought him to see this, clearly treating him as one of her own; they would be working together for a long time.

After those Sub Souls gave their things to Ah Chen, they all flew to her, merging with her Main Soul.

[Are these Sub Souls of the host not planning to continue anymore?] 997 asked.

Ah Chen said: [No, they’re coming back to rest, recharge before going out again. These Sub Souls aren’t as powerful as the Main Soul, and going to the small world could easily be influenced by emotions and forces. To avoid problems, I regularly call them back, and after they’re well-rested, send them out again.]

soon noticed something was off; why did so many voices suddenly appear? As he scanned around, he was astonished once again; why did so many systems squeeze in? 997, being quite experienced, quickly understood what was going on; they must be the systems bound to those Sub Souls, right?

[Host, you still make me feel unfamiliar.]

Previously, he went out to sign two newcomers and even felt a bit guilty about it.

He never expected the host to have so many systems around her, densely packed around him, too many to count, completely innumerable.

[Hey, are you new here?]

[Look at that bewildered face, definitely a newcomer.]

[Although it’s a bit shocking, you’ll get used to it. You’re not the first, nor the last.]

[Hey, you’re quite lucky, binding directly to the host’s Main Soul; it seems the host doesn’t intend to let the Sub Souls take you, so you’re basically winning by default.]

[Bro, what did you do to be able to stay by the host’s Main Soul?]

Upon hearing these words, 997 was a bit at a loss to react.

How would he know?

He didn’t do anything; would these systems believe if he said so?

[Is it tiring to follow the host’s Sub Soul?] 997 cautiously asked, noticing that Ah Chen wasn’t minding their conversation, growing a bit bolder. It was rare to meet so many systems at once, all squeezed together, so might as well chat.

[Not tiring, although they’re the host’s Sub Souls, our host is very powerful and doesn’t really need us for tasks.]

[Then you guys said I won by doing nothing, aren’t you doing nothing too?] 997 felt a bit speechless.

[Main Soul is even more powerful!]

[Yes, the Main Soul is definitely stronger; it’s a different level of winning by doing nothing.]

[Hey, which company are you from? I’m from...]

The systems chattered on, sharing their origins, and seeing that 997 was getting along with them quite well, Ah Chen didn’t interfere much, just listening to their lively chatter.

The systems chatted for quite a long time. 997 noted the time, and in a blink, a month had passed. In this month, he had gained a lot and made connections with thousands of system friends. Even though he was an employee from the Space-Time Company, used to interacting with peers, he had never encountered so many systems at once.

What an eye-opener!

If he told others about this experience, his colleagues probably wouldn’t believe him.

When the rest was over, Ah Chen dispersed her soul again, each Sub Soul taking a system to the small world for missions.

[997, we’re leaving, talk next time.]

[Alright, talk next time.] 997 waved, looking at his friend list, a long string of numeric codes, feeling quite overwhelmed. He then checked the group tab, not knowing how many groups he had been added to recently. It’s true that three people can have four groups; here, he had thousands of systems, but fortunately, there weren’t that many groups.

Better turn on ’do not disturb’ for all!

There were just too many.

Ah Chen reminded: [Little Seven, are you ready to go? What are you doing?]

[Host, wait a second, I’m setting the group to do not disturb.] 997 hurriedly said, there really were too many, everyone being so enthusiastic, and having just met, it was hard to refuse when they added him to groups. Now, hearing the incessant dinging in his head, he understood what noise truly was.

Ah Chen was amused: [Alright then.]

[How are those two missionaries you recently signed?]

[They’re doing well, quite dedicated to the tasks.] 997 said, [When the host goes to a new world, I’ll find a few more suitable ones.]

He didn’t feel much pressure now.

The host had thousands of systems, so signing a couple more missionaries to work under him seemed reasonable, right?
