Pregnant During An Apocalypse [BL]

Chapter 179: Chapter 179 - Handsome man

Jian Hao grumbled under his breath as he walked away from the warehouse. His chest was tight with unease.

Just a few hours ago, he had warmth, food, safety... but now he had none of that. Those monsters’ had kicked him out.

”Those monsters... They’ll all die terrible deaths,” he muttered, his voice cracking as he clutched the straps of his bag tightly.

The city around him was no longer familiar. Roads were littered with abandoned cars, their doors hanging open.

Glass crunched beneath his shoes

Every distant growl or shuffle made him flinch.

He ducked low, weaving around vehicles, his breath fogging up as he fought the panic rising in his throat.

”I’ll kill them all... I swear I’ll kill them...”

Finally, he ducked behind a rusty truck, crouching in the shadow. With trembling fingers, he opened his bag. A few melted chocolates, a half-warm energy drink, and the bloody table leg.

He pulled the makeshift weapon out, holding it tightly. His voice turned bitter.

”Those monsters... they hoarded all the guns. And they give me this? A damn table leg?! Fuck!”

His eyes darted back toward the warehouse in the distance.

”I’ll sneak back in... I’ll take them out. I’ll... I’ll wait until they’re sleeping and—”

”You’re so loud.”

A lazy, disinterested voice made Jian Hao jump out of his skin. He scrambled to his feet, gripping the table leg as he whirled around.

Perched like a cat on top of the truck, a young man lay stretched out across the roof, one leg dangling off the edge, arms behind his head. He looked far too relaxed for a world falling apart—like he was sunbathing on a tropical beach rather than hiding in a zombie-ridden city.

Jian Hao blinked. The man was... handsome. Unfairly so. Pale skin that looked like it had never seen a scar, brown curly hair tousled perfectly, and those dark brown eyes that seemed to sparkle with amusement. He looked half Asian—but there was an effortless charm in the way he tilted his head.

”You... You’re alive,” Jian Hao muttered, stunned.

The man sat up slowly, stretching like a cat waking from a nap. He scratched his chin, his eyes lazily meeting Jian Hao’s.

The look sent a jolt down Jian Hao’s spine.

He’d seen good-looking people—Muchen, Yunfeng, even Jai—but this guy had something else. Like he’d walked out of a movie set, completely untouched by the filth of the world.

Jian Hao realized too late he was staring.

Hard.

And he was blushing.

He coughed, snapping himself out of the daze. That’s when he noticed the bulging backpack next to the stranger’s foot.

His heart thudded.

Supplies.

He raised the table leg and pointed it.

”Give me your supplies, or I’ll beat you to death!”

His voice cracked slightly, but he tried to sound confident. The guy looked thin. Weak. He was probably hiding on top of the truck to avoid zombies. He didn’t look like he had any weapons on him. Jian Hao figured he had the upper hand.

But instead of looking afraid, the man did something... unexpected.

He smiled.

Not just any smile. A dazzling, almost flirtatious grin that made Jian Hao’s knees weaken despite himself.

”Oh? You wanna beat me to death?” the man said with a low chuckle. ”With that little stick?”

Jian Hao blinked, offended. ”It’s a table leg.”

”It’s adorable,” the man smirked, now sitting cross-legged on the roof of the truck. ”You look like a stray kitten with a rolled-up newspaper. Cute, but not scary.”

”Shut up!” Jian Hao snapped, feeling heat rush to his face again. ”Don’t think I won’t hit you!”

The stranger tilted his head thoughtfully. ”You’re alone, aren’t you?”

Jian Hao’s hands tightened around the weapon. ”So what?”

The man’s smile softened slightly. ”You shouldn’t be.”

Suddenly, Jian Hao felt his entire body seize.

It wasn’t just fear—it was like something unnatural had gripped him from the inside out.

Every muscle, every tendon, every fiber of his being froze in place.

He couldn’t even lift a finger. The only part of him that moved were his eyes, wide and frantic, darting around helplessly.

What... what’s happening to me? he screamed internally, his breath caught in his throat. He watched in sheer terror as the handsome man with the lazy grin casually stepped down from the truck and approached.

And then that smile—no longer just charming, but chilling.

”Ah,” the man said with a soft chuckle as he reached out with pale, smooth hands and plucked the bag from Jian Hao’s frozen grasp. He opened it and peeked inside.

”Only a chocolate bar and an energy drink? Guess you didn’t raid a supermarket after all.” His eyes, warm brown yet glinting with something far more ancient and inhuman, locked onto Jian Hao’s. ”Where’ve you been hiding all along, kitten?”

Jian Hao’s gaze shook violently, pupils dilated in fear.

He did this to me. This man—no, no, this thing—he froze me! What is he?! Am I going to die here?!

The man inspected the drink, turned it in his hand thoughtfully, then gave a disappointed sigh. He casually tossed the empty bag back at Jian Hao’s feet.

”If you try to steal from others, others will steal from you,” he said softly. ”That’s karma. Learn to be a good person, kitten.”

He stepped back with the same unbothered grace, climbed up the truck, grabbed his own bulging backpack, slung it over one shoulder, and then leapt down effortlessly.

Then he just... walked away.

Like nothing had happened. Like he hadn’t just reduced a boy to a paralyzed wreck with a single glance.

Jian Hao’s body remained frozen until the man was several meters away. And then, suddenly, like a puppeteer had cut the strings, he collapsed to the ground, gasping. His limbs trembled as blood rushed back into his arms and legs.

He could move again.

But his heart was pounding so hard he thought it might give out. He clutched his chest, staring at the man’s back as he sauntered away, humming faintly, like he was on a stroll through a park and not a hellscape filled with corpses.

What kind of monster is he?! Jian Hao screamed in his mind, horror still fresh in his bones.

But then... an idea formed. A dangerous, desperate one.

Wait... wait. Maybe I can use him!

He struggled to his feet, legs shaking, and called out with all the strength he could gather in his throat.

”Wait!”

The man stopped mid-step, turning his head over his shoulder, a brow raised in elegant amusement.

”I told you to be quiet,” he said lazily.

”I know where you can get a lot of supplies!” Jian Hao shouted, voice hoarse and desperate. ”And... and guns!”

That stopped the man in his tracks. He turned slowly, his head tilted in intrigue.

”Guns, you say...”

His eyes gleamed interest.
