Pregnant During An Apocalypse [BL]

Chapter 155: Chapter 155 - Missing person reports..

Yunfeng cried until his body felt too heavy to move. Even though no tears physically fell, his soul ached with the weight of his grief.

After a while, he lay on the ground, staring at the ceiling. The ache in his chest dulled, but the emptiness remained.

Then, a pair of shoes entered his vision.

Hana.

She walked toward their mother and wrapped her arms around her from behind. The hug was gentle, warm, careful—as if she were afraid that even the slightest pressure might break Lin Jinju apart.

”I’m back. Did you eat anything? I’ll heat up some leftovers for you.”

Lin Jinju simply nodded, her eyes still focused on the sweater in her lap.

”I made a sweater for your brother,” she murmured, a small, sad smile curling at her lips.

Hana hesitated for just a second before forcing a bright expression.

”This... it looks good.”

She placed her school bag on the table and sat next to their mother, watching her fingers continue their slow, messy knitting.

”Mom... are you okay?” Hana’s voice was softer now, careful.

Lin Jinju nodded again. ”I’m great. Why do you ask?”

Hana bit her lip. ”You can’t keep staying up at night watching the news... You can’t do that. Yunfeng wouldn’t want you to do that.”

The words shattered something.

Lin Jinju let out a shaky sob, her hands clenching the fabric of the sweater.

”What do you expect me to do, Hana?” she whispered, her voice breaking. ”My son is missing. He is out there somewhere, lost, waiting for us to find him. I just want him home. I just want him here with us...”

She cupped her face in her hands, shoulders trembling, her breaths uneven.

Hana immediately hugged her tightly, wrapping her arms around their mother as if she could hold all of her broken pieces together.

”We will find him.”

Yunfeng watched it all unfold, his very soul trembling.

It was never the dead who suffered the most—it was the ones left behind.

The ones forced to wake up every day with a hollow ache in their chests, clinging onto fragile hope, wondering if maybe, just maybe, today would be the day their loved one returned home.

He had been careless.

In both lives.

In his first life, he had ignored the black car following him. He should have been more vigilant, should have at least carried some kind of weapon, should have been prepared. But he hadn’t been. He had walked outside without a single thought for his safety and ended up getting kidnapped—his organs stolen, his life snuffed out before he even had a chance to fight back.

”I really should make good life choices.” Yunfeng whispered, voice tinged with sadness.

The mother and daughter remained in each other’s embrace for a long time before Hana finally pulled away.

”I have homework to do,” she murmured, standing up and walking toward her room.

Yunfeng followed after her, watching her move with practiced ease, as if she were unaffected.

She didn’t cry.

Not even once.

He sat beside her as she lay down, staring up at the ceiling.

”Ruthless brat,” he muttered under his breath, shaking his head.

But when he saw her eyes—wide, unblinking, empty—his chest tightened.

”Cry... let out that sorrow. Don’t keep it in.” He reached out, nudging her arm, but of course, she didn’t feel it.

”They don’t want you to be their strong one. They just want someone to cry along with them. Just cry...”

But she didn’t.

She just lay there, unmoving, staring into nothing.

Yunfeng couldn’t bear to see her like this.

He wanted to shake her, to yell at her, to tell her it was okay to break down.

Because he knew—better than anyone—that pretending to be fine only made the pain worse.

Yunfeng sat beside Hana, watching over her as she drifted into a deep sleep. Her face, though peaceful, carried traces of exhaustion—subtle dark circles under her eyes, lips slightly chapped. How long had she been pushing herself like this?

Once he was sure she was resting, he stood up and began walking around her room. The walls that had once been covered with posters of famous actors and singers were now completely different.

Missing posters.

Private investigation reports.

His name, his face, his last known whereabouts—printed over and over, plastered onto every inch of the space where she had once celebrated her youthful obsessions.

His chest ached.

”She must have been trying so hard to find me...”

He turned to look at her, still sleeping soundly, her fingers curled slightly against the blanket.

”I wish I could give you guys a hint where I am...” he murmured.

But what could he do? No one could see him. No one could hear him.

With a sigh, he turned toward her study table.

The photon reader screen was still open. She must have been reading something before falling asleep.

Curious, he leaned closer.

It was an article about Alpha and Omega anatomy.

Yunfeng’s eyebrows furrowed. He hadn’t known Hana was interested in this kind of thing. But when his eyes flickered to the images on the screen, his breath caught in his throat.

It was an anatomical diagram of an Omega’s reproductive system.

A small, peanut-shaped organ attached to the digestive system. Something so tiny, yet capable of expanding—of holding a child inside.

Yunfeng stared at it, his entire body going cold.

Then, his gaze slowly fell to his own stomach.

He touched it with trembling hands.

A wave of nausea washed over him.

He hadn’t just died.

He had killed his own child when he died.

His knees buckled, and he clutched his abdomen, pressing his hands against himself as if trying to feel something—anything—that wasn’t there anymore.

”I wish I could have protected you more...” he whispered, voice breaking.

Tears burned at the edges of his eyes, spilling down his cheeks in soundless sobs.

”I’m so sorry... I’m so sorry...”

His shaking hand reached out, fingers brushing against the image of a tiny fetus on the photon screen.

As soon as he touched it, the screen flickered.

Yunfeng froze.

He pulled his hand back. ’Did i imagine that?’

Slowly, he reached out again, fingertips grazing the surface.

The page moved ever so slightly.

His breath caught in his throat.

He tried again, dragging his finger across the screen. The text shifted, scrolling up as if responding to his touch.

Yunfeng’s eyes widened.

He wasn’t just a helpless ghost.

He could interact with the world!!
