Pregnant During An Apocalypse [BL]

Chapter 156: Chapter 156 - The Tera virus and its origins

Yunfeng’s fingers trembled as he traced over the screen, still processing what had just happened.

He could touch things.

His soul—his supposedly untouchable, non-corporeal self—had just moved a screen. The realization made his breath hitch. It meant... he could communicate.

His first instinct was to send a message. If he could just type something out, he could tell Hana, tell his parents—I’m here. I’m not gone.

Heart pounding, he tried to close the study screen and open a messaging app. But no matter how much he swiped, tapped, or tried to drag the menu down, nothing happened.

The study lock was on.

”Shit!”

Hana must have set her photon reader to study mode, meaning the only accessible content was textbooks. No messaging apps. No calls. Nothing except pages upon pages of school material.

Yunfeng clenched his fists. So close, yet still so far.

Frustrated, his gaze darted over the screen, scanning through the available books. Science, literature, physics—nothing useful. But then, one title caught his eye.

HISTORY ARCHIVES: THE TERA VIRUS AND ITS ORIGINS

A cold chill ran down his spine.

Slowly, he tapped the textbook, and with effort, it opened.

Lines of text glowed on the screen, and Yunfeng felt his stomach twist as he read.

{”The Tera Virus emerged in the 21st century as an unexpected biological weapon. Though not an open act of war, it was a carefully planned attack by Country A.

The virus was first introduced through an addictive narcotic, spreading silently among the masses. At first, it corroded the internal organs of its users, infiltrating every cell.

In approximately ten days, the infected became living biological weapons. Their sweat, breath, blood—even their urine and fecal matter—became highly contagious, capable of infecting others on contact.”}

Yunfeng’s breath hitched. His hands clenched into fists as he kept reading.

{”Within thirty days of infection, early users of the drug entered a manic state, driven by insatiable hunger. Hospitals became overwhelmed with both users and those injured by them.

However, a horrifying phenomenon was soon observed—the virus had begun mutating. As it spread from host to host, it changed. Some infected evolved, developing superhuman strength or abilities beyond human understanding.

Others, however, deteriorated, their bodies rotting from the inside out until they lost all traces of humanity.

These decaying creatures, driven by the virus’s command, sought out the uninfected, spreading the disease further. Thus began the first recorded case of the undead—the zombies.”}

Yunfeng’s heart pounded against his ribs.

A silent war had been waged against the world, and no one had even realized it until it was too late.

Yunfeng reeled at the realization of the Tera Virus’s origins. His trembling, translucent hands scrolled further down the page, his mind struggling to process what he was reading.

The aftermath of the virus was laid out in stark, cold text:

{”Doomsday began at night, and by the next dawn, half of the population of Country C was gone.”}

His breath hitched.

Half.

Gone in a single night.

{”The country, unprepared for such a large-scale biological attack, was caught off guard. The initial places of infection—City A, City D, and City F—were hit hardest.

In a panic, the government attempted containment, but the spread was faster than any model had predicted. In a desperate effort, they sealed off the infected cities, cutting off communication with the rest of the world through an EMP attack to prevent mass hysteria.

Intentionally, they buried the truth—that half of their population was gone before they even had time to react.”}

Yunfeng clenched his fists.

So that’s why no outside help came. It wasn’t just that the world had abandoned them—it was because the government had silenced the cries for help before they could even be heard.

How many had died trapped inside those sealed-off cities?

He shook his head, forcing himself to read on.

{”The subsequent days were hell for survivors. Stranded without outside aid, people banded together, fighting off the strange undead creatures that had risen from the infected. Desperation led to violence. Those who had been left behind faced not only the monsters but also other humans, scrambling for dwindling resources. By day three, an emergency rescue operation was launched under the command of Major Shin.”}

Yunfeng’s eyes widened.

Major Shin! That’s jai’s grandfather!

The realization sent a jolt through him.

”They sent rescue by day three. Then Muchen just has to hold on for two days...”

His heart pounded.

Major Shin would never let his grandson Jai die in the chaos.

A gleeful smile broke onto Yunfeng’s face. Muchen could survive.

Two days.

That was all he had to hold out for.

But then—

His gaze flickered lower.

The next line made his soul flicker in shock.

”The rescue effort was an absolute failure, resulting in the death of esteemed commander Shin Kailun.”

Yunfeng’s smile vanished.

He stared at the words, unblinking. His mind refused to process it.

Failure.

Death.

Grandpa Shin...died?

His vision swam.

His throat closed up.

No...

He read the words again, desperate for another meaning.

But the screen didn’t change.

The government had sent their strongest military leader, and he had died in the attempt.

Then—

What chance did Muchen have?

{”desperation grew. The virus spread much faster than anticipated so in an attempt to cull it the government decided to bomb the four major cities to the ground. And by day five major cities were gone. But the infection was still prevalent.”}

Yunfeng stood there frozen in shock.

”no.. how could this be... what will Muchen do.. what will Hana do...”

”Yunfeng...” a voice suddenly called to him.

He glanced back in shock. Hana was up and glancing his way. ”Yunfeng....” Her eyes winded ever so slightly.

Suddenly Yunfeng sight blurred out.

All he could see was that terrifying darkness.

”Yunfeng! You dare leave me!” a familiar voice filled his being. he felt it.... A soft touch to his hand.

A trembling hand holding onto his.

”Yunfeng!”

His eyes snapped open peering up at the handsome face that was red from crying. ”mu....Muchen...”
