Wu dong Qian Kun: I, Lin Langtian, Refuse to be a Supporting Character

Crack!

A flash of silver light streaked across the sky. When the spreading fissure reached its limit, the Black Blood God-Slaying Axe silently split in two and fell powerless from the heavens, bursting into countless motes of light that filled the air with dazzling radiance.

Pfft!

At the same moment, Dong Kui’s face turned deathly pale. The many Calamity Guards below him were also gravely wounded, blood trickling from the corners of their mouths.

In the sky above, the once-violent surge of Calamity Battle Intent began to fade at an astonishing rate.

In just a few breaths, the dark aura that had occupied half the heavens retreated completely.

The clash between the Silver Mist Guards and the Calamity Guards, which everyone had thought would end in the latter’s absolute victory, had instead resulted in a crushing defeat for them.

Whoosh!

A roar of astonishment spread across the skies outside the battlefield.

The outcome shocked everyone present beyond belief.

The Calamity Guards had not only had the advantage in numbers, but their commander, Dong Kui, was an experienced veteran. On paper, the odds were clearly eight to two in their favor.

Yet the final result left countless spectators dumbfounded.

All attention turned toward Lin Langtian.

Everyone knew that it was because of him that the Silver Mist Guards had triumphed.

The new commander of the Silver Mist Palace was terrifyingly powerful.

Judging from Lin Langtian’s performance, in the entire Heaven-Earth Sect, only a few of the oldest experts and the Nine Kings could possibly match him.

Shocked murmurs spread like wildfire, while some subtle glances shifted toward the Calamity King, whose face was now dark enough to drip ink.

On the battlefield, the battle intent around Lin Langtian gradually dissipated.

Below him, the Silver Mist Guards gazed up with reverence and excitement. Their hearts surged with pride.

Under Lin Langtian’s leadership, they had finally regained their honor. From now on, no one in the Heaven-Earth Sect would dare mock the Silver Mist Guards again.

Lin Langtian’s expression remained calm. He looked at the grim-faced Calamity King outside the field and smiled. ”A wager is a wager. When can the Silver Mist Palace take over those hundred cities?”

The Calamity King’s face twitched. His eyes were frosty as he glared at Lin Langtian. ”Since when does a mere commander have the right to speak to this king like that?”

The instant his words fell, a dreadful spiritual pressure exploded from his body and swept toward Lin Langtian.

Boom!

But before that aura could descend on him, dozens of razor-sharp sword shadows shot out like lightning, striking mercilessly at the Calamity King’s vital points.

The Calamity King stomped fiercely, unleashing black spiritual energy that spread like a barrier around him.

Bang! Bang!

The sword shadows slammed against the barrier, and with a series of cracking sounds, fractures began to spread rapidly.

The Calamity King’s face changed, and he retreated several steps, releasing a surge of power that shattered the approaching sword shadows. He then fixed his gloomy gaze on Jiang Yinlan in the distance.

”Calamity King, you truly are shameless.”

A mocking smile played on Jiang Yinlan’s beautiful face. ”If the Calamity Palace still refuses to accept defeat, why don’t we have a round ourselves?”

”Hmph, do you think I’m afraid of you?!” the Calamity King snarled.

”Enough!”

Just as the two were about to clash again, a booming voice erupted through the skies.

The figure of the Third Elder appeared once more.

Everyone in the area bowed respectfully.

”Since you lost the wager, you must honor it,” said the Third Elder, glancing at the Calamity King. ”Otherwise, what rules would our Heaven-Earth Sect have left?”

The Calamity King ground his teeth and nodded.

”Alright, since the wager is settled, follow me, Nine Kings. The Heaven-Earth Sect’s conquest is about to begin,” the Third Elder declared.

A chill spread through the crowd. The Heaven-Earth Sect was preparing for war.

The Heaven-Earth Sect was among the top powers on the continent, yet that didn’t mean no one dared provoke it. One rival was the Domain of Chaos, a venomous region sprawling to the northwest.

Within that domain existed three dominant factions: Blazing Fist Gate, Black Demon Sect, and Dragon Might Cult.

These three were the overlords of the Domain of Chaos. Though not on par with the Heaven-Earth Sect, their alliance made even the sect wary.

Over the years, the Domain of Chaos kept encroaching on the sect’s borders.

Occasionally, the Heaven-Earth Sect retaliated, but because the Sect Master was always in closed-door cultivation, their counterattacks remained limited.

The arrogance of the Domain of Chaos had grown unchecked.

Though resentment brewed within the Heaven-Earth Sect, none dared begin an all-out war without the Sect Master’s order.

Now that a decree for conquest had been issued, it meant—the Sect Master had emerged.

…

Heaven-Earth Sky, Heaven-Earth Hall.

The grand hall stood atop the highest peak under heaven. Within, all the top members of the sect had gathered. The atmosphere was heavy and silent.

The unseen pressure was so immense that even the most revered figures dared not breathe loudly.

Lin Langtian stood beside Jiang Yinlan, gazing toward the front of the hall.

There, the three elders stood respectfully, their usual authority nowhere to be seen.

At the top, the golden throne gleamed faintly—not blinding, but so majestic that no one dared to stare directly.

Suddenly, resplendent golden light burst from the throne, distorting the surrounding space.

A stormlike pressure swept through the hall, forcing everyone to bow deeper.

The three elders’ voices rang out reverently, ”We greet the Sect Master.”

”We greet the Sect Master!”

A chorus of respectful voices echoed through the hall.

Lin Langtian lowered his head but caught, from the corner of his eye, a golden figure appearing upon the throne—a middle-aged man in golden robes, radiant and majestic.

Sitting quietly, the man exuded an aura so forceful that even space itself seemed to twist.

Yet, strangely, Lin Langtian couldn’t shake the sense that something was off.

His instincts told him—the Sect Master was hiding something.

”He’s gravely injured,” came Ling Yi’s calm voice in Lin Langtian’s mind. ”He’s suppressing it well, but the wounds go deep. Most can’t see it, but not someone of my level.”

As a once-supreme Earth Sovereign, Ling Yi’s insight was sharp. Even hidden within Lin Langtian’s body, she could sense it.

Lin Langtian frowned slightly. Could it be that the Sect Master’s long isolation had been to heal his injuries?

And on this continent, who could have wounded him so? Only one name surfaced—Huang Kurong, the traitor who had defected from the Heaven-Earth Sect to found the Earth Desolation Palace.

As Lin Langtian pondered, a hoarse voice echoed from the throne: ”You all know the situation. The Heaven-Earth Sect shall commence its conquest, targeting the Domain of Chaos.”

The hall stirred with excitement.

Finally, they would move against the Domain of Chaos.

”However,” the Sect Master continued, ”I will not intervene directly. Behind the Domain of Chaos lurks the Earth Desolation Palace.”

Those words froze the excitement in the room.

”So that’s why the Domain of Chaos grew so bold,” the First Elder muttered. ”They’ve been supported by traitors.”

”If I act personally,” said the Sect Master, eyes glinting darkly, ”it may provoke Huang Kurong. A direct clash with the Earth Desolation Palace would ensue.”

The three elders nodded. Forcing someone like Huang Kurong’s hand would indeed shake the continent.

”Rest assured, Sect Master,” said the Third Elder with a calm smile. ”We can handle the Domain of Chaos without you.”

”See that you do,” the Sect Master replied. His gaze swept the room. ”Whoever captures new territory shall keep it. The sect will reward merit generously.”

The hall burst with heated murmurs.

In the past, conquered land always went to the sect treasury. This time, everything would belong to whoever seized it—an enormous incentive.

”Furthermore,” the Sect Master added, ”among the commanders, the one with the greatest achievements shall represent our Heaven-Earth Sect in the Dragon Kun Realm.”

His words made the hall erupt once more.

Even the calmest leaders widened their eyes.

Lin Langtian leaned toward Jiang Yinlan and asked in a low voice, ”What is the Dragon Kun Realm?”

”That is a mysterious domain within the Heaven-Earth Continent,” Jiang Yinlan explained. ”In ancient times, two supreme beings—one of the dragon race, one of the kun race—fought there and died together. Their blood reshaped the space, creating the Dragon Kun Realm.

”It is said that those who enter might receive the Dragon God’s or Kun God’s enlightenment, gaining the terrifying vitality and speed of those divine beasts. It is a priceless opportunity for cultivation.”

Lin Langtian’s eyes shone. Having once absorbed Dragon Kun blood on the Tianxuan Continent, he knew how great an enhancement it could offer.

Jiang Yinlan, knowing his abilities well, added softly, ”But the conditions to open the Dragon Kun Realm are harsh. It requires several Earth Sovereign experts acting together, and only top commanders are eligible to enter. Even then, access is contested through fierce competition.”

Lin Langtian nodded slowly. Regardless of the difficulty, this was a chance he must seize.

When the Sect Master finished his commands, he waved casually. Golden light surged, and his figure vanished. The crushing pressure lifted completely.

Everyone exhaled in relief. The oppressive weight of an Earth Sovereign was terrifying indeed.

The First Elder went on to assign details for the coming campaign before dismissing the assembly. Each of the Nine Kings returned to their domains.

The news of the coming conquest spread swiftly, and the entire Heaven-Earth Sect grew filled with killing intent.

Armies under the Nine Kings prepared eagerly, each hoping to seize glory and land.

Even Jiang Yinlan, usually calm, felt her heart stir at the promise of such rewards.

Lin Langtian, though less tempted by new territories, still knew that the stronger his Silver Mist Palace became, the better.

And above all—he had already set his sights on claiming a spot in the Dragon Kun Realm.
