Wu dong Qian Kun: I, Lin Langtian, Refuse to be a Supporting Character

On a lone peak within Silver Mist Palace, Lin Langtian sat quietly in meditation.

Between his palms, a pitch-black scroll slowly unfurled, waves of dark light constantly rippling from it.

After keeping his eyes closed for a long time, Lin Langtian suddenly opened them. He lowered his gaze to the black scroll in his hands, a thoughtful look flashing across his eyes.

This black, mysterious scroll was naturally the Eight Directions Primordial Art he had seized from Han Lin.

Lin Langtian had already spent two full days studying it, yet in that time, he had made very little progress.

Such a situation was a rare occurrence for Lin Langtian.

His eyes flickered slightly, and he suddenly formed a hand seal. As his seals shifted, vast spiritual power surged out and condensed into eight pitch-black pillars of light within his palms.

Boom!

With a palm strike, the eight black pillars of spiritual power howled forth, slamming heavily into a mountain peak.

In an instant, enormous cracks split across the peak.

Lin Langtian stared at those fissures, his eyes narrowing slightly.

This power… seemed a bit too weak.

At his usual strength, shattering a mountain was nothing remarkable. Yet after using this divine art, the power actually dropped quite a bit.

This divine art was truly strange.

He toyed with the black scroll in his hand. The might of the Eight Directions Primordial Art clearly should not be what he was currently displaying.

If that was the case, then he must have trained in the wrong direction.

At that thought, a spark of inspiration flashed through Lin Langtian’s mind. He muttered, Could it be that different attributes of power are required?

In his memory, there were indeed some strange martial arts in the Great Thousand World that required the assistance of different elemental attributes to be cultivated successfully.

Opinions on this kind of martial divine art varied widely among experts.

Some believed that the more attributes one’s spiritual power possessed, the better, as it would allow one to adapt to various complicated situations and powerful enemies.

Of course, others believed that true power did not come from having as many attributes as possible in one’s spiritual power.

The most classic example, in Lin Langtian’s eyes, was the Flame Emperor Xiao Yan from the Dou Qi Continent.

Few would have imagined that mere decades later, when it came to the art of controlling fire, there would be none in the Great Thousand World who could match Xiao Yan. He was the true emperor of flame; under his hand, the myriad fires of heaven and earth flowed at his command.

Thus, specializing in a single path was also a brilliant road to take. The Flame Emperor Xiao Yan had pushed the path of flame cultivation to the absolute extreme. At his level, no other power was enough to sway his heart.

Of course, the Great Thousand World was boundlessly profound, and no single path could be called the strongest.

Lin Langtian’s cousin, the Martial Ancestor Lin Dong, possessed spiritual power with many attributes. He had mastered thunder, flame, and more.

When confronting the Ice Spirit Clan, the icy power he wielded was something even that ancient race—who survived on the power of frost—could scarcely withstand.

Lin Dong’s many spiritual attributes were due to the Tianxuan Continent.

Though the Great Thousand World was a nexus of countless planes, some lower planes had their own extraordinary qualities. Certain unique cultivation techniques from there were far from ordinary, even in the Great Thousand World.

It was so for Lin Dong, and the same held true for Lin Langtian.

At this moment, Lin Langtian bore eight elemental attributes within him—flame, lightning, darkness, ice, and others—and each of these spiritual powers had been perfectly fused with demonic energy, becoming even more terrifying and powerful.

When Lin Langtian had fought Geng Tian of Calamity Palace, the demonic lightning he used had directly annihilated and devoured the man’s Extreme Thunder Law Body. While this was in part due to Lin Langtian’s own strength, the might of the demonic energy had also played a crucial role.

Thus, when facing different enemies, his demonic lightning, demonic flame, and demonic ice could all unleash unexpected effects.

With this in mind, Lin Langtian’s heart stirred. He opened his palm, in which flickered strands of black flame, gently twisting and dancing.

This was demonic flame.

He stomped the ground, and spiritual power once again erupted skyward. As his hand seals shifted, that spiritual power condensed into a pitch-black pillar in midair.

Atop that pillar, black flames suddenly surged out, wrapping around it in an instant.

Whoosh!

As the demonic flame coiled around the pillar of spiritual power, the pillar’s size rapidly expanded. In just a moment, it had swollen to nearly a thousand meters in height.

Bang!

When the demonic flame pillar swelled to its full thousand-meter height, its body had become utterly solid, as if it could pierce the heavens themselves, incomparably sturdy and unbreakable.

The pillar of demonic flame burned with dazzling black fire, like a celestial column propping up the sky and earth. Waves of power roared through the void for tens of thousands of meters around.

Seeing this, Lin Langtian’s lips curved slightly.

Clearly, to truly refine this spiritual pillar, a special element was required—like demonic flame, which served as the crucial finishing touch.

Only by imbuing the refining process with such a unique attribute could the first spiritual pillar be truly awakened.

To cultivate the Eight Directions Primordial Art, eight such pillars had to be forged. In other words, only those who possessed eight distinct spiritual attributes could cultivate it to perfection.

No wonder that back at the auction, this technique had allowed Xu Youyan to unleash such terrifying power. A divine art that fused eight different elemental attributes could not possibly be weak.

”Eight directions united, spiritual power converging, destroying heaven and earth…”

Lin Langtian murmured to himself, his eyes growing ever brighter. In the next instant, his hands flashed through a blur of seals and he shouted, ”Demonic Thunder Pillar!”

Rumble!

A peal of thunder exploded across the sky as vast spiritual power surged upward once again.

This time, however, it was not demonic flame that erupted, but boundless pitch-black demonic lightning.

Under Lin Langtian’s control, the demonic lightning rapidly condensed. In the span of a breath, it became a thousand-meter-tall black pillar of demonic thunder.

The Demonic Thunder Pillar stood between heaven and earth, towering and majestic, no less impressive than the Demonic Flame Pillar.

Seeing the two immense demonic pillars, Lin Langtian nodded inwardly. Without wasting another word, he let the various demonic spiritual powers of different attributes within his body roar forth once more.

”Demonic Ice Pillar!”

”Demonic Void Pillar!”

”Demonic Devouring Pillar!”

”Demonic Darkness Pillar!”

…

As each of Lin Langtian’s low, sharp shouts rang out, pillar after pitch-black demonic spiritual column bearing different attributes erupted skyward like a line of soldiers charging to the front.

Before him, eight black demonic pillars formed up in an orderly row, like a regiment of deathly soldiers, radiating an unimaginably terrifying aura.

Satisfied by the sight, Lin Langtian formed another seal. ”Eight Directions Primordial Art—descend!”

At his command, the eight demonic pillars shot forward one after another, slamming down in front of him.

They formed a rough circle, occupying all directions. It was like a cage that imprisoned the heavens and earth, its oppressive power indescribable.

Sizzle!

In the next moment, powers like demonic flame, demonic lightning, and demonic ice erupted simultaneously from the eight pillars, encircling the central region layer upon layer. With eight different elemental forces pressing in together, the scene within was like a living hell.

To an outside observer, these eight colossal constructs of differing energy attributes hanging in the sky would seem to exude a subtle aura of annihilation.

One would feel that once trapped within those eight demonic pillars, even a Great Luo Golden Immortal would struggle to escape.

Seeing this, Lin Langtian’s lips once again curled into a faint smile.

This, at last, was the true power of the Eight Directions Primordial Art.
