Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

Chapter 1779: Chapter 1779: Here for Revenge

He is a guard, not a priest, and practices martial arts. It is perfect for him to spar with Mu Tu.

”Limit it to a point, do not harm the harmony,” Han Yan said.

”The master has decreed, limit it to a point, do not harm the harmony,” Wen Gaoren immediately stood up and relayed the master’s decree.

The sparring match that was meant to liven up the banquet was instantly turned serious by his earnest statement.

The crowd looked at Wen Gaoren’s solemn demeanor, then at his master beside him, who could be mistaken for his granddaughter, wanting to laugh but feeling too embarrassed to do so aloud.

Han Yan covered his face briefly; having such an elderly disciple with nearly no teeth left might not be something to be proud of.

”Facing death with such high spirits, sleeping well and eating heartily, it’s not easy,” a cold laugh sounded at that moment as seven or eight priests in black robes walked over arrogantly.

Long Wudang! Seeing the young man at the front, shaking a folding fan with greasy hair and a powdered face, An Xiaxin and others stiffened in alertness.

Everyone knew that Long Wudang would never let the loss in Huayu City slide, and An Xiaxin and others were mentally prepared for his vengeance.

But when he actually appeared, they couldn’t help but feel a little nervous. Even if his status in the Long Family was not on par with Ou Mingzhi’s in the Ou Family, being the son of the Master Priest of the Heavenly Sun Temple makes it impossible for the temple to just sit by and watch him be bullied without standing up for him.

Of course, Long Wudang could not be said to be bullied; it was his own doing, but who cares about these details?

”You still dare come; it seems the lesson last time wasn’t enough,” Han Yan said coldly as he glanced at Long Wudang.

”Such big talk, I’ll see who dares to teach a lesson to someone from the Heavenly Sun Temple?” Before Long Wudang could speak, an old man beside him snorted coldly.

This elderly man’s figure was thin, back straight as an arrow, face stern as if everyone owed him money.

”Zhuge Qiu!” Under the light, An Xiaxin could see their appearance clearly and exclaimed.

”Are you calling me Zhuge Qiu? How dare you,” the old man glanced at An Xiaxin with contempt, exuding an aura of power without anger.

An Xiaxin’s face also became more unsightly, clearly apprehensive and uneasy.

Han Yan realized this old man must have a significant background; otherwise, An Xiaxin would not show such an expression. In fact, the imposing aura exuded by the old man made Han Yan feel considerable pressure.

”I am Zhuge Qiu, Penalty Priest of the Heavenly Sun Temple!” Han Yan was just about to question the old man’s background when Zhuge Qiu declared proudly.

The Penalty Priest, in charge of temple laws, handles any violations by the populace or priests. Though not possessing a broad range of responsibilities like the Dual Priests, akin to the Main Priest’s right-hand aide, their power is not much less and is even more intimidating.

Since he governs the laws, his strength is unquestionable. In fact, in many temples, the Penalty Priest’s power is only second to that of the Main Priest, surpassing even the Dual Priests.

An Xiaxin had visited the Heavenly Sun Temple; though she hadn’t met Zhuge Qiu, she had heard of his renowned power and ruthless character. Both priests and populace in Tianyang City were terrified of inadvertently breaking temple laws and falling into his hands.

”So it’s Lord Zhuge. What business brings you to the Huayu Temple at such a late hour?” Han Yan asked calmly.

Though knowing Zhuge Qiu’s considerable background and strength, Han Yan was prepared for retaliation upon daring to offend Long Wudang. Even if Long Aoli personally came to demand accountability at the Huayu Temple, she wouldn’t be surprised nor intimidated.

”Master Priest truly has a short memory, hasn’t forgotten last month’s incident, have you?” Long Wudang snapped his folding fan shut, his voice embedded with cold laughter.

Although he had been beaten up last time by Han Yan until bleeding and driven to wretched retreat, having suffered nightmares for several nights thereafter, with Zhuge Qiu supporting him today, his fear of Han Yan vanished as he shook his fan again, feeling emboldened.

”Ah, I remember now, last time our Guardian Priest at Huayu Temple was injured by you without reason, left with persistent ailments. Your prior compensation was inadequate, should you compensate more?” Han Yan said, feigning enlightenment.

”Shut up, are you out of your mind? I’m here for revenge today, you understand revenge?” Previously, Han Yan’s beating, accompanied by tears and blood, forced Long Wudang to humbly apologize by emptying his pockets, a veritable humiliation. Hearing her dredge up past events made his face instantly livid.

Han Yan looked at Long Wudang with contempt, anyone would know you’re here for revenge; he insists on repeating it, obviously signifying that the Young Master Long Yang’s mind isn’t so sharp.

”You are the new Master Priest Han Yan at Huayu Temple?” Zhuge Qiu, finding Long Wudang’s words idiotic too, interrupted and asked.

Last time, Long Wudang refrained from asking Han Yan’s name for fear of being beaten, but her title as Master Priest would appear promptly on the Lifebound Soul Token, notifying all great temples.

”Indeed,” Han Yan nodded.

”I won’t waste words; Huayu Temple harbored its member to hurt others, injuring our priest of Heavenly Sun Temple. By temple laws, strict punishment is warranted; surrender the person, now,” Zhuge Qiu said sternly.

”Surrender the person?” Han Yan laughed coldly.

”Exactly, regardless of who it is, dares injure our temple’s priest, I will take them back to Heavenly Sun Temple for severe punishment,” Zhuge Qiu said.

”What if the perpetrator is me?” Han Yan asked.

”If Master Priest, knowing the law, violates the law, you must come with me to the Heavenly Sun Temple for punishment,” Zhuge Qiu replied decisively.

An Xiaxin and others’ faces changed; a barely restrained rage flickered within their eyes. Even aside from Huayu Temple’s ancient history and status, which equate it with the Heavenly Sun Temple, if Huayu Temple’s priest indeed breaches laws, it wouldn’t fall to Heavenly Sun Temple to provide punishment, let alone for the Master Priest.

Were it not for Huayu Temple provoking Lord Divine, causing its decline through these years, even the Life God Temple among the Five Great Divine Temples might not stand above Huayu Temple. As the Master Priest, even if Han Yan made mistakes, only the Main Temple had the authority for punishment.

Zhuge Qiu’s declaration was overtly disdainful, dismissing Huayu Temple’s dignity and trampling all its members’ pride.

”Master Priest, let’s go,” Zhuge Qiu gestured invitingly to Han Yan.

”What if I don’t wish to go?” Han Yan smiled slightly and asked.
