Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

Chapter 1753: Chapter 1753: He Was Actually Worried She’d Starve to Death

”That old man is not only arrogant, but also insatiably greedy. We asked him for help before, but he had the nerve to aim for the position of Main Priest,” Shen Yuhe said angrily.

Hearing this, Han Yan felt relieved. Previously, when An Xiaxin hesitated and gathered the courage to ask this person for help, she thought he might be the kind of scoundrel like Long Wudang.

”Forget it, I’ll ask him again to see if his attitude changes. We can’t just wait to starve to death,” An Xiaxin sighed.

Shen Yuhe and Sikong Qinglan both looked miserable and didn’t object anymore.

Han Yan looked at them with sympathy. Speaking of which, on the Divine Continent, temple priests had the highest status, almost revered by many citizens and refugees. Yet who could imagine that the priests of Huayu Temple had fallen to such a state, worrying day and night just to fill their stomachs.

Of course, Han Yan deeply empathized with their helplessness. Having coarse tea and simple meals every day, even someone like her, who wasn’t a foodie, started to miss the days of lavish feasts. Life on the Divine Continent was much harder than on the Holy Court Continent. Many here struggled for sustenance. Han Yan had mixed feelings, realizing that the separation of the two continents was indirectly her doing, causing the suffering of the people on the Divine Continent. She wanted to change this situation, wanted it very much.

”Master Priest, there’s someone outside asking to see you.” At the door, a priest with a flushed face said, swallowing as he spoke.

”Who is it?” Han Yan asked curiously, not having any acquaintances on the Divine Continent.

”He said his name is Mu Tu, and he is a relative of Master Priest,” the priest replied.

”Mu Tu!” Han Yan walked towards the outside of the temple with delight. After being apart for a while, she indeed missed the days in Mu Family Village.

Upon seeing Mu Tu again, Han Yan realized why that priest had a flushed face and couldn’t help but swallow. It turned out Mu Tu not only came himself but brought dozens of cattle and sheep, and several large carts of food as well. It was impressive that the priest only swallowed without his eyes turning green.

”Mu Tu pays respects to Master Priest!” Upon seeing Han Yan, Mu Tu quickly bowed respectfully.

After reporting his name at Huayu Temple, Mu Tu learned that Han Yan had been chosen by several High Priests to be the Main Priest. He felt both awe and pride, as Huayu Temple was a temple after all, and Han Yan had become its Main Priest upon arrival. How could he not feel proud?

”Uncle Mu Tu, what brings you here?” Han Yan quickly helped Mu Tu up and asked.

”Lord Sacrificial Officer was worried you might not be accustomed to Huayu Temple, so he sent me to check on you and bring gifts for the priests,” Mu Tu said, flattered and nervously rubbing his hands, his big dark face turning a shade of red.

An Xiaxin and the others secretly sweated with embarrassment. Although Mu Tu’s rendition of Ye Yi’an’s words was polite, they knew full well that the Old Tributor was certainly worried Han Yan might starve at Huayu Temple, which is why they made a special trip to deliver cattle, sheep, and food. As temple priests needing civilian aid, they felt ashamed enough to want to crawl into a hole. But seeing those fat and robust cattle and sheep and carts full of food, they couldn’t help swallowing.

By nightfall, Huayu Temple rarely held a banquet. On one hand, it was to show thanks for Mu Tu’s special visit to see Master Priest and the food he brought. On the other, it was also for everyone to enjoy a feast.

Ling Baobao, who had finished his jerky long ago, was nearly ready to pounce on the cattle and sheep Mu Tu brought earlier. Now he was devouring tender roasted meat and drinking aromatic rice wine, while draping an arm around Mu Tu, they called each other brothers.

Initially, the priests found it hard to let go of their status, but as the alluring aroma of the meat spread and infiltrated their noses, they couldn’t maintain their restraint, and each indulged in the feast with joy.

Seeing their smiling faces, Han Yan felt heavy-hearted. Although the aid from Mu Family Village helped Huayu Temple temporarily overcome the crisis, what about the future? For Huayu Temple to truly get out of hardship, it must rely on itself, and this was her responsibility.

The next morning, Mu Tu left Huayu Temple to report back to Ye Yi’an, while An Xiaxin went to Lingyu City to again seek Wen Gaoren’s assistance.

Huayu Temple soon returned to its previous lifeless state. Han Yan secluded herself, spending almost all her time in the library, studying various priest divine techniques and exploring the strange and mysterious arts of the Divine Continent, especially the Array Formation Technique.

To help Huayu Temple quickly out of crisis, repairing the Array Barrier was fundamental. She didn’t want to place all her hopes on the reportedly greedy and arrogant Wen Gaoren.
