Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

Chapter 1038: Chapter 1038: The Legend Will Be Fulfilled Through Her

”Your Highness, perhaps we shouldn’t set our sights on Han Yan.” The mere mention of Mu Hanyan by the Fifth Prince made Qu Fengting’s heart race with anxiety.

”Time waits for no one. If we don’t target him, who else can we target? Quickly, think of a way. This might be our only chance.” The Fifth Prince said helplessly. He knew that his time was running out. It’s been some time since he returned to the Capital, yet he had achieved nothing and even became the laughingstock among the other princes. If he didn’t come up with a solution soon, his father would likely exile him from the Capital, and he might never get a chance to return.

Sigh, had I known this would be the result, I shouldn’t have gone against Han Yan from the start. If I wanted to establish my prestige, anyone else would do. Why did it have to be an uphill battle?

Unfortunately, things had come to this point where the Fifth Prince had no way out and could only follow this path to the end.

”Well, the art of employing people is nothing more than reasoning and benefits. The person follows Han Yan, most likely because of the benefits involved. After all, Han Yan, being the grandson of the Mu Family head, has some skills and influence and can offer him many advantages.

Your Highness, as the Fifth Prince, your background is in no way inferior to Han Yan’s. The difference in strength isn’t significant either. It’s just that you’ve been away from the Capital for too long, losing your edge, and thus are continually suppressed.

As long as Your Highness can demonstrate true royal majesty, he will naturally realize that following you offers a far grander future than following Han Yan. When that time comes, if Your Highness also treats him sincerely, why worry that he won’t serve you?” Although very reluctant to provoke Han Yan again, Qu Fengting had no choice but to answer since the Fifth Prince asked.

He was now like a rat crossing the street in Anyun Country, and could only find shelter with the Fifth Prince to have a place to stand.

Despite saying this, Qu Fengting was internally skeptical. Since his return to the Capital, the Fifth Prince had suffered several setbacks at the hands of Han Yan. Wanting others to witness true royal authority was no easy task.

”Is that so?” The Fifth Prince pondered for a moment after hearing his words, then suddenly brightened up, saying joyfully, ”I’ve got it! I truly have a way now. Truly a line that awakens one from a dream, why didn’t you say so earlier?”

Seeing the Fifth Prince so ecstatic, Qu Fengting suddenly felt a strong sense of unease in his heart: I was merely making a casual response, how did he take it seriously? Hopefully, this doesn’t end up in another blunder.

...

Upon returning to the Mu Family, Han Yan went to visit his grandfather and recounted the matter concerning Yue Fanchen and her suspicions.

After listening to Han Yan, Mu Beichen remained silent for a long time, lost in thought.

”Your guess is not without merit. Yue Fanchen’s visit to our Anyun Country at this time is likely not so simple.” After a long while, Mu Beichen nodded.

”Oh.” Han Yan looked at Mu Beichen with curiosity, sensing his unease.

”You needn’t worry too much. When soldiers come, the generals will resist; when water approaches, earth will cover. Also, if you do engage with Yue Fanchen, be lenient where possible,” Mu Beichen, noticing Han Yan’s puzzled gaze, coughed lightly and added.

Upon hearing his grandfather’s words, Han Yan was even more puzzled. Though Mu Beichen had apparently always presented himself as calm and collected, Han Yan knew that as the head of the family, his grandfather was not as gentle on the surface as he seemed.

He never mentioned being merciful, even when dealing with the Supreme Elder. Why had he suddenly become compassionate now?

”I’m considering the bigger picture. After all, the reconciliation of Anyun and Shangyue is beneficial to both the country and its people.” Mu Beichen sighed deeply.

It was then that Han Yan suddenly understood. As an Anyun citizen, even as the head of the Mu Family, one of the Eight Great Families, Mu Beichen also had to consider the state affairs above all else, which seemed reasonable.

”Alright, I’m a bit tired now. You should head back,” Mu Beichen gestured with his hand.

”Then, Grandfather, please rest well. I will go see Uncle Yun and Mu Sha. They left in such a hurry last time that I didn’t have a chance to properly thank them,” Han Yan said.

”They are still recuperating in the rear courtyard. I’ll have someone take you there.” Mu Beichen summoned a guard to lead Han Yan to the rear courtyard.

In just a few days, the two appeared much better in spirit, seemingly almost recovered from their injuries.

Han Yan felt greatly relieved, and after expressing his gratitude to them, he returned to his own courtyard.

While walking along the path, Han Yan recalled Mu Beichen’s earlier unease. Although his explanation was reasonable and Han Yan had believed it at the time, she couldn’t shake the feeling that something seemed off.

However, no matter how much she thought about it, she couldn’t pinpoint the reason and didn’t want to bother her grandfather just because of a strange intuition. Hence, she temporarily set aside the matter.

Han Yan didn’t notice Mu Beichen standing behind the window, watching her leave with a contemplative and exceptionally serious expression.

”The alternation of sun and moon, the cycle of heaven and earth. The Divine Martial descends, and the universe returns to its rightful state! Perhaps, this prophecy is truly destined to apply to her,” Mu Beichen sighed softly in a voice only he could hear.

In the following days, Han Yan began to focus on her cultivation in preparation for the Long Yan Academy’s entrance selection. Mu Hanfeng was also diligently training.

The sky was high, clouds thin, and the courtyard beneath the dappled shade was gently cooled by the breeze.

Han Yan practiced her swordsmanship tirelessly, dripping with sweat. Each sword she thrust required a momentary pause, appearing very laborious.

”Master, isn’t this swordsmanship deduced from Doctor Sun’s Meridian Cutting Hand?” Hua Yue and others, familiar with the technique, asked curiously.

”Your eyesight is sharp, but the swordsmanship wasn’t deduced from Meridian Cutting Hand. On the contrary, Meridian Cutting Hand was actually derived from this sword art,” Han Yan, exhausted, paused for a moment to drink water as she replied.

Indeed, this swordsmanship was precisely the Nine Heavens Star Falling Sword from the Aolai Divine Beast Memory Inheritance. Han Yan had inadvertently awakened part of the Divine Beast Memory while trying to save someone by secretly learning a few tricks of the Meridian Cutting Hand from Sun Changsheng, thereby understanding this Nine Heavens Star Falling Sword.

But the time was brief. Her understanding was merely a flash of inspiration in her mind, far from proficient. As a result, she couldn’t utilize it while at the Soul-breaking Valley.

With only a few days left until the Long Yan Academy’s entrance selection, preparing elixirs to enter the Star Plate Space for cultivation was a bit late. Moreover, her recent cultivation progress was already rapid. Continuing at this pace risked an unstable foundation, so Han Yan devoted her efforts to the Nine Heavens Star Falling Sword.

Being a part of the Aolai Divine Beast’s memory inheritance, it is likely the swordsmanship used by its powerful owner. If she could thoroughly comprehend it, the enhancement of her combat power might greatly surpass that of directly advancing her cultivation.
