Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

Chapter 1017: Chapter 1017: Devil Eyes Returned to Their Rightful Owner

Following behind Yu Qingwan, Mu Hanyan arrived at the backyard.

”Lady Mu, I owe my rescue to your intervention this time; I was able to escape danger unharmed. I cannot thank you enough; please allow me to express my gratitude.” Yu Qingwan bowed to Mu Hanyan.

”How did you find out?” Mu Hanyan helped Yu Qingwan up, asking in surprise.

One must know that she had been with Zirong and others day and night without raising any suspicion from them. Compared to Yu Qingwan, they had interacted only briefly when she regained consciousness, exchanging a few words, yet she discerned it.

As soon as they returned, Doctor Sun hurried to check the injuries of Zirong and others. Naturally, there was no time to inform her about her female disguise.

”I’m sure you’ve noticed Zirong’s demonic eyes; although I was born unable to cultivate or use them, my six senses are heightened beyond the average person. Also, being a fellow woman, it’s naturally easier to perceive such things.” Yu Qingwan explained with a smile.

”So that’s how it is.” Mu Hanyan suddenly realized.

”I invited Lady Mu here not only to express my gratitude but also to ask for your help with something.” Yu Qingwan said, bowing down.

”Sister Yu, there’s no need for such formality; Zirong is my best friend. Whatever you need, just say it.” Mu Hanyan quickly supported her, unwilling to accept such a grand gesture.

”Lady Mu, I beg you to save Zirong! With those demon eyes, without help, he might not live beyond ten years.” Yu Qingwan said, tears welling up, her already wan and lovely face appeared even more fragile and sad, making Mu Hanyan’s heart ache.

”What’s going on?” Mu Hanyan was deeply shocked upon hearing this.

Originally, she speculated that Yu Qingwan might have given her mysterious internal power to Zirong, possibly causing some harm, but not telling him to avoid hurting him, and secretly asking her to help keep it confidential. However, upon hearing her request, she realized her guess was wrong.

It turned out that the actual harm was not caused by Yu Qingwan but Zirong himself.

”Lady Mu, doesn’t it strike you as strange that people like me usually have their innate divine abilities branded within their bloodline? Even top-tier cultivators find it near impossible and extremely risky to extract such powers from our bloodline. I lack the slightest cultivation; why can I easily transfer such power to Zirong?” Yu Qingwan wiped her tears, calming herself, and asked.

”It does seem a bit odd.” At this point, Mu Hanyan recalled various legends about the innate abilities of human cultivators, nodding in agreement.

”Actually, it’s not strange when you break it down, because this power originally belonged to Zirong, not me. I was merely returning it to its rightful owner.” Yu Qingwan calmly stated.

”What!” Hearing Yu Qingwan’s words, Mu Hanyan was even more astonished.

She felt that every word Yu Qingwan said contradicted her previous assumptions, almost diametrically opposed, and far beyond her imagination.

”The power of the demon eyes has been passed down through generations in the Zi Family, yet not every descendant awakens this innate divine ability. Only those offspring born with fully mature eyes that transform into demon eyes at birth are considered to have a bloodline awakening.

However, their demon eyes are different from Zirong’s, not mixed black and white. For males, both eyes are pure white; for females, both eyes are pure black. One is the purest yang power, the other the purest yin power. Such pure power is unbearable for even exotic beasts, let alone humans.

Therefore, nearly all Zi Family descendants who awaken their demon eyes perish shortly after their first full moon, never growing into adulthood. This matter is a secret passed down through the Zi Family, and the demon eyes have been viewed as a bad omen, the result of ancestors committing something against divine harmony, cursed by the gods, continuing through generations to this day.

Zirong experienced a bloodline awakening at his first full moon, but his fortune was different—a mysterious stranger transferred the power onto me, and because the power of the demon eyes is the purest yang power while I have a frigid yin body, the power wasn’t much of a hindrance to me.

Though I was often called a chronic patient since childhood, I wasn’t really frail or sickly. It was just due to my young age, I was unable to yet fully integrate the power of the demon eyes, leading to occasional strange illnesses. In fact, I was healthier than most and as I matured, that power gradually fused into my bloodline, affecting me less and less.

If nothing unexpected happens, even without any cultivation, I could live for one or two hundred years, and Zirong could live well too, although he wouldn’t have the chance to awaken the demon eyes again, he would face no illness and his cultivation talent would be much stronger than average.” Yu Qingwan slowly explained the whole story.

”Doesn’t Zirong know about this?” Mu Hanyan asked curiously.

Though Yu Qingwan’s words sounded like a fairy tale, Mu Hanyan had personally seen Zirong’s demon eyes, so she easily believed.

”Zirong’s parents passed away suddenly a few years after his birth, without having the chance to tell him these things. The Zi Family had already declined by then, and being sole heirs for several generations, coupled with the fact that the demon eyes have always been considered an ill omen and a curse, they wouldn’t let outsiders know, so he remains unaware.” Yu Qingwan explained.

”Then how do you know?” Mu Hanyan asked further. As far as she knew, Yu Qingwan was around the same age as Zirong, so she would also have been a baby at the time. How could she possibly know this secret?

”A mysterious stranger told me just a year ago; he found me and revealed everything.” Yu Qingwan answered frankly.

”Who exactly is this mysterious stranger you speak of?” Mu Hanyan pressed on, growing more curious.

”His name is Lu Guantian!” Yu Qingwan replied.

”Lu Guantian!” Mu Hanyan was taken aback, exclaiming in surprise.

Lu Guantian is none other than the elusive master of Qu Shanling, who is as elusive as the celestial dragon himself, rarely seen. Although she sometimes disapproved of Qu Shanling’s ways, Mu Hanyan held utter admiration and respect for his master. Not to mention, the Sword Heart Soul Cleansing Pond he discovered had greatly benefited Mu Hanyan.

At first, she was a little puzzled as to why Yu Qingwan trusted someone’s words so easily, but upon learning who this mysterious stranger was, Mu Hanyan ceased to find it strange. With Lu Guantian’s Star Divination Technique that reveals heavenly secrets, it would be easy to gain Yu Qingwan’s trust.

”Senior Lu not only told me about the secret surrounding Zirong but also warned of another matter. The power of the demon eyes is already within me, ensuring Zirong’s life is free of worries. However, I might face unforeseen disasters because of it, and there’s a chance that the power of the demon eyes will someday return to Zirong.”
