Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

Chapter 1034: Chapter 1034: Now This Is a Real Slap in the Face

The two swords clashed, and Long Ya was once again struck by Han Yan. This sword, still so simple, so direct, was exactly the same as the one before.

Faced with repeated setbacks, Long Ya’s fury and unwillingness had reached their peak. As soon as his body touched the ground, he sprang up again, lunging at Han Yan once more.

However, his internal organs were shaken, and he was quite injured, though in his fury he tried to muster his Qi. As he swung his sword, it clearly lacked the previous might and ferocity, nor the previous sharpness. Han Yan slightly turned, effortlessly dodging the sword edge, and seemed to ponder before casually slapping him across the face.

”Slap!” In the crisp sound of the slap, Long Ya’s robust figure spun in place, retreating several steps before sitting heavily on the ground, five bright red fingerprints quickly appearing on his face.

This slap wasn’t heavy, yet it was absolutely shocking.

All around, there was silence, everyone was stunned, staring wide-eyed at the scene.

In battles between swordsmen, even in life-or-death duels, there’s an unspoken rule to leave each other some dignity. This is for the sake of the swordsman’s honor. Often, the higher the skill, the more important dignity becomes; many times, leaving face for the opponent is also a way of respecting oneself.

Han Yan had easily dodged Long Ya’s sword just now, even if she had killed him in the moment, no one would have blamed her. Yet unexpectedly, she completely disregarded the swordsman’s honor, landing a resounding slap on her opponent.

If the slap had been heavy, it could be excused as losing control in a heated exchange; yet it was administered so precisely and effortlessly, it was clearly deliberate.

Humiliation, this was outright, blatant humiliation.

No wonder Han Yan is known as the most notorious playboy in the Capital; indeed, she’s bold, showing no regard for anyone’s dignity.

If it were any other opponent, Han Yan’s slap might have been deemed disrespectful to a Sword Master and criticized. But since the person getting slapped wasn’t from Anyun Country, rather the adversary of Anyun Country, and Long Ya had been so arrogant beforehand, no one was complaining this time.

On the contrary, a wave of cheers arose around, and there was even a hint of admiration in the gazes turned toward Han Yan.

”So this is what a Shangyue Country Sword Master is all about. Lucky it’s just a private duel, not a war between countries. Otherwise, with this level of skill, they wouldn’t even know why their country and clan got annihilated.” Han Yan returned Long Ya’s previous words tit for tat. As she spoke, she waved her hand as if the slap had made her hand ache.

Seeing Han Yan’s little gesture, another burst of laughter came from all around, feeling more refreshing than enjoying a chilled lotus seed soup in summer.

”You... you dare...” Long Ya’s face burned with pain, and before he could finish his sentence, he spat out a mouthful of blood.

”Long Ya!” The two young men beside him exclaimed in surprise, quickly stepping forward to help him.

”Move!” Long Ya shouted in fury, shaking the two aside.

”You dare insult the name of Shangyue Country, I will kill you, I will kill you.” Long Ya roared angrily.

Han Yan pursed her lips: ”You wanted to kill me for insulting Shangyue Country’s name, yet when you disrespected Anyun Country earlier, I didn’t kill you, did I? Learning to conquer people with virtue, that’s what it’s all about, learn from this, it’s how you conquer with virtue.”

At this moment, Lady Mu seemed completely oblivious to how much damage that resounding slap caused to Long Ya’s fragile psyche, more cruel than just killing someone.

Listening to Han Yan’s utterly unaware remarks, all around, several black lines formed across people’s foreheads.

If you’re going to humiliate someone, just humiliate them; saying this kind of thing, claiming to conquer with virtue — you’re intentionally aggravating them to death.
