Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

Chapter 340: 340 An unexpected scene

”Hmph, what do you know? This is called ’courtesy before force.’ City Lord Yan comes from a major family and always acts according to the rules. The more polite they are now, the fiercer they will be when they make their move,” Mu Ze said with ill-intent, sounding almost like he was casting a curse.

”Brother Mu Ze, we’re all family after all. Even if you don’t like Brother Han Yan, you shouldn’t harbor such thoughts,” said Mu Yuying, her dislike for Mu Ze’s pettiness growing, unable to restrain herself from speaking out.

The others glanced at Mu Ze, also showing signs of annoyance.

”What am I thinking? What am I thinking? I’m just speaking the facts here. You all think that just because they invite us in politely, they will release him just as courteously? They’re merely putting on a show so as not to lose face. It’s only you who are daydreaming, truly believing they will treat you with respect,” Mu Ze said sarcastically, his anger increasing as he saw their annoyed looks.

”That’s a tough say. There are many people in this world who are all bark and no bite. Maybe seeing our Mu Family arrive in such a formidable manner made Yan Yuchu scared and he’ll honestly release our uncle,” Mu Hanyan said with a sense of amusement, intending to tease Mu Ze as he seriously put it.

To be honest, she didn’t have a strong aversion to Mu Ze. Though he pretended to be all serious on the surface, he was actually just a child with an immature mind. He was like a child who had his beloved toy snatched away—displeased with everyone and everything. But he could hardly be called utterly wicked. It’s just that he was too timid and lacked a strong spirit.

With her psychological maturity being more than double his, Mu Hanyan wouldn’t stoop to his level.

”Ha, you think you’re someone to be feared? Dream on,” Mu Ze nearly burst into laughter at Mu Hanyan’s comment, which sounded utterly absurd to him.

Mu Yuying and the others also gave Mu Hanyan a strange look. Although Mu Ze’s words were unpleasant, to be honest, what their playboy brother said seemed a bit off. In terms of lineage, the Yan Family was not below the Mu Family. Speaking of strength, they were Sword Masters, not something a Level 6 Swordsman should be able to intimidate. As for them, they were at most Level 5 Swordsmen—sending one would mean one death, sending two would mean two deaths. It seemed they had even less reason to be feared, right?

Just as they were silently shaking their heads, something unexpected happened.

”These guests must be from the Mu Family. I am Yan Yuchu. I apologize for not coming out to meet you sooner. Please forgive my oversight,” Yan Yuchu said with a welcoming smile.

Although he was only slightly older than Mu Hanyan and the others, his well-fitted yet lavish clothes lent him an aura of authority, giving him the air of a city lord. However, his friendly smile didn’t make anyone feel alienated, not in the least bit hostile, making them feel as if bathed in the warmth of spring.

Something’s not right. If he is detaining our uncle, he should be our enemy. So why is he being so polite? Could the information be wrong, and our uncle isn’t in his hands? Mu Yuying and the others felt both surprise and confusion, unsure of how to respond.

”We’ve met City Lord Yan. I am Mu Han, and these are the disciples of the Mu Family, Mu Ze, Mu Xitian, Mu Jie...” Mu Hanyan politely said, introducing everyone.
