Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

Chapter 42: 42 A chubby girl

In her previous life, Mu Hanyan’s only friend of the same sex was Yi Qinglian. Yi Qinglian was a bit chubby, with an apple-shaped face that easily blushed with shyness. She was gentle and considerate, genuinely fond of Mu Hanyan from the bottom of her heart. In that past life, she married an old man old enough to be her father just to help Mu Hanyan.

By the time Mu Hanyan had fallen into dire straits and was rescued, she learned that Yi Qinglian had traded her lifetime of happiness for her safety. Back then, how much she hated her own powerlessness. And yet, Yi Qinglian still comforted her with a gentle and shy smile, claiming that the man would treat her well and dote on her.

But two years later, Mu Hanyan received news of Yi Qinglian’s death! The old man had grown tired of her, taking in a younger and prettier woman. The new love, disliking Yi Qinglian immensely, conspired with the old man and tortured Yi Qinglian to death! By then, Mu Hanyan had become much stronger and was capable of protecting Yi Qinglian, but it was all too late!

After receiving the news of Yi Qinglian’s death, she ran madly for three days and nights without rest until she reached the old man’s house and slaughtered his entire household! Whatever pain Qinglian suffered in her death, she made the old man and his new love feel ten to a hundred times more before they died. But could that bring Qinglian back to life? It couldn’t!

She still remembered the night she cried her heart out, full of regret and remorse. Such a thing, she would never allow to happen again, absolutely not!

Now, Yi Qinglian was still fine, still untouched by the sacrifice of her lifetime’s happiness, and not yet tortured to death. Mu Hanyan felt a sourness in her eyes; she quickly wiped away the tears at the corners of her eyes, put on a big smile, and went to greet Yi Qinglian.

Qinglian, this life, I will definitely protect you, I will make sure you have a lifetime of happiness!

Mu Hanyan rushed to the entrance and saw Yi Qinglian looking somewhat uneasy. Yi Qinglian’s chubbiness didn’t detract from her appearance at all; rather, it made her quite cute. Seeing Mu Hanyan, a broad smile spread across her apple-shaped face, revealing two adorable dimples, and then she walked toward Mu Hanyan.

”Hanyan, are you all right? I wanted to come and see you after what happened with Fourth Miss Zhao, but my father wouldn’t let me. Today, after hearing about Fourth Miss Zhao’s matter, he finally allowed me to leave. I told him that you were framed, and he just wouldn’t believe it. Today he finally started to believe me a little. Humph, I told you, Fourth Miss Zhao is no good.”

Mu Hanyan looked at Yi Qinglian’s playfully smiling face and her clear eyes, and her heart soured again. She fought hard to hold back the tears that nearly spilled out and managed a smile, ”Qinglian, thank you. Let’s go inside and talk. I’ve had your favorite green bean crisps prepared for you.”

”Really?” Yi Qinglian’s baby-fat cheeks broke into a surprised smile, and her eyes lit up at that moment. This made Mu Hanyan laugh, feeling even more tender for her. Such a cute and vibrant girl had ended up as an unrecognizable corpse! Such things, she would never let happen in this lifetime!

”Of course it’s true; I know Qinglian loves the green bean crisps from the City Lord’s Mansion the most. Also, I’ll have someone go to Daoxiang House to buy some tasty treats for you,” Mu Hanyan said, about to take Yi Qinglian by the hand to her own yard.

Yi Qinglian happily nodded like a pecking chick, reaching out her hand to clasp Mu Hanyan’s.
