Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

Chapter 29: 29 is a treasure with its own emotions

Feeling secretly pleased within herself, she suddenly heard the Compass emitting a buzzing sound, and her heart was filled with a feeling of disdain.

”Hmm? What does this mean?”

Mu Hanyan held the Compass in her hand, puzzled, and for a while couldn’t figure out what this meant.

The Compass in her hand vibrated even more intensely, conveying a mixture of disparagement and impatience straight to her heart.

”Could it be that I’m thinking too much? Such good fortune doesn’t come every time?” Mu Hanyan guessed as much.

The Compass paused for a moment before vibrating once again, this time a sense of approval filled her heart.

It seemed she had guessed right, that this fortune only occurred during the recognition of its master, not every time; she would have to rely on herself in the future. Mu Hanyan came to this realization.

The Compass then conveyed a sense of joy, confirming her guess.

Although the Wishful Abacus came up empty, Mu Hanyan didn’t feel disappointed. A legendary treasure that required a blood offering to recognize its master might not save her life in the future, but it would definitely have other extraordinary uses. It wouldn’t be so simple; she could uncover its potential value slowly over time.

Seemingly ”hearing” Mu Hanyan’s extremely mercenary thoughts, the Compass sent over a scornful emotion and then quieted down, offering no further reaction.

Was this fellow protesting and despising her? Mu Hanyan laughed wryly to herself. It truly was a legendary treasure to have such rich emotions.

Seeing that the Compass gave no further responses, Mu Hanyan carefully tucked it into her bosom. One must not be careless with such a treasure.

It wasn’t until then that Mu Hanyan calmed down and surveyed the room. The bizarre assassination attempt and desperate counterattack had taken place so quickly that no one was alarmed. Except for the broken window, there were no traces left, as if nothing had happened.

The Black-clothed Man had turned to dust, so naturally, she couldn’t extract any information from him. But Mu Hanyan didn’t give up so easily and began to scrutinize her surroundings, looking for any clues.

Her gaze swept inch by inch across the floor, and suddenly, Mu Hanyan’s eyes halted. In the corner lay a piece of cloth, only two fingers wide, quietly lying there – it was exactly what she had slashed from the edge of the assassin’s clothing during her stealth attack.

Mu Hanyan picked up the piece of cloth and examined it. The fabric was nothing special, just ordinary coarse hemp, but the pattern embroidered on it was quite unusual. One large and two small, three stars were positioned on one side of the cloth, while a dozen smaller stars stood on the other side.

The embroidery was exquisitely done, just like the real starry sky, but the piece was too small to see the whole pattern. Mu Hanyan couldn’t glimpse its entirety or determine which family or sect’s emblem it was. She could only be sure that it was related to the origin of the Black-clothed Man.

She carefully stored the cloth piece away, and without realizing, dawn had broken.

The earlier incident hadn’t disturbed anyone, and Mu Hanyan didn’t want to cause further complications. Moreover, considering there were no traces left on the scene, even if she spoke up, others might think that the Mu Family’s foolish Young Master had gone mad from dreaming.

After instructing the servants to fix the window, Mu Hanyan left her room, suddenly remembering something.

Considering the status of the Tenth Rank Great Swordsman Black-clothed Man, there shouldn’t be a family in Heishi City that could afford such a Death Soldier. Where did this person come from? Could it be that some power had already discovered her existence? That means there should have been such an assassination attempt in her past life too, but why couldn’t she remember anything at all?
