Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

”Why should I fight you one-on-one?” Mu Hanyan looked at Yuan Tianbo with eyes that seemed to see him as mentally deficient. ”My family has both money and power. I can just have a couple of guards to fight for me; why should I dirty my own hands? It’s not my fault that you didn’t bring your own guards today.”

Yuan Tianbo felt like he really wanted to vomit blood. He had seen people bully others by flaunting their power and swaggering around with family guards, but he had never seen anyone do it so naturally and unabashedly!

Does this person even have any shame?

He thought he was shameless enough, but apparently, the true experts were right here! He was just slightly shameless—this one was shamelessly shameless, on a completely different level.

”Don’t ever appear in front of me again, or else I’ll beat you every time I see you. I’m not joking. Just try me.” Mu Hanyan smiled as pleasantly as a spring breeze, completely incongruous with what he had just said. Yuan Tianbo almost burst into tears.

”Let’s go.” Mu Hanyan, feeling much better after being oppressed by dreams last night, summoned Huayue and Zirong, leaving a swollen-faced Yuan Tianbo behind, and strutted away. Mu Hanyan felt a dark satisfaction; the moment he waved his hand calling his ”henchmen” to follow was a pure delight of a successful bully.

After Mu Hanyan left, the surrounding people were dead silent; they all wiped the sweat from their foreheads—real or imagined. They all inwardly sighed; indeed, a playboy was a playboy; where others might start bullying when provoked, this Mu Family Young Master didn’t even need a provocation to start beating people up, and it was terrifying that he was beating his own kind.

Actually, it wasn’t really his own kind, but people thought they were all from the same nest. Seeing the previous camaraderie between Yuan Tianbo and Mu Hanyan, and knowing that both had notorious reputations as playboys, who wouldn’t think they were all cut from the same cloth?

As Mu Hanyan walked out of the Jade Building, remembering the expressions of the bystanders, she knew her reputation as a playboy would only grow stronger, making others probably avoid her altogether in the future.

Indeed, on the way home, the streets were noticeably emptier. Many street vendors had closed early for fear, and even carriages sped away upon seeing her. Even the child from the Zhang Juezzi family, known for being a crybaby, stopped crying.

Mu Hanyan’s mouth twitched slightly. Not bad, she thought; not only did people avoid her, flowers wilted, and cars refused to stop, but she could also stop babies from crying at night. She was practically legendary now—a harbinger of doom.

But Mu Hanyan didn’t mind; others might not know, but she knew very well that those she had beaten deserved it, and she did it all guilt-free. Perhaps some even applauded her actions... But thinking about what others might find delightful made her feel a bit uneasy. You could bet that their joy was nothing more than schadenfreude in the nature of a dog-eat-dog world. Damn it! Could that content be of any good?

One day, she vowed, she would shed this name of a playboy. One day, she would stand at the top, earning others’ respect and admiration!

...

Accompanied by Huayue and Zirong, she returned to the City Lord’s Mansion. Suddenly, Mu Hanyan stopped; there was something very important that needed to be settled immediately. In her revelry, she had almost forgotten. Better to handle it sooner rather than later.

Just now, her ”henchmen” had beaten someone, which was satisfying because their target was a weak playboy. But if the target had been someone more formidable, the brawl would not have been nearly as enjoyable.
