Quick Transmigration: The Cannon Fodder's Comeback in the Era Tales

Chapter 436: Chapter 436: The Remarried Widow 29

He never believed Dad’s nonsense, saying something about being biological. If he really were their biological son, would there be such a huge difference in treatment?

He definitely wasn’t their biological son.

So, Second Cui and his three children stopped working.

Why should he and his three kids work themselves to death to support this family, yet they couldn’t enjoy the best, and were still bossed around like slaves by the family?

Overnight, Second Cui seemed to transform into another person, as if he finally grew a brain. He even went to the brigade office, borrowed one hundred yuan, and sent all three of his children to school.

Even if his eldest son was already twelve and had to start in the first grade, it didn’t matter. In this era, kids started schooling late anyway, and there were plenty of ten-year-olds in the first grade.

With the remaining money, he went to the market, bought a few new clothes, a few new pairs of shoes, and also bought candies, rice cakes, and canned food he had always wanted to eat but couldn’t, watching his brothers devour them instead.

When Granny Cui discovered that her second son didn’t go to work and couldn’t find him after running around looking, the family had to wait until dusk when Second Cui and his three children finally returned.

That day, a major upheaval shook the Cui Family.

Second Cui beat up a few of his brothers.

Years of farm labor had built up Second Cui’s strength, and he did all the heavy and grueling work. His physical power far surpassed that of the other Cui sons, who only knew how to laze around and shirk work.

Even when several of the brothers teamed up, they couldn’t take down Second Cui alone.

Granny Cui bawled and cursed him for being unfilial.

Second Cui said, ”Among us brothers, I have been the most filial to you and Dad, but what did I get in return? My status at home is the lowest, and my treatment is the worst. Even my two sons’ status at home is worse than my sisters-in-law’s and nieces and nephews’.”

”I have been so filial to you both, but how do you treat me in return? Instead, those brothers and sisters who are unfilial get the best treatment and enjoy the most benefits from the family. So why should I continue to be filial to you? I’ve already decided that I won’t be filial anymore. I’ll learn from my brothers and loaf around; I’ll earn six work points a day. From now on, I want a share of the good food at home, and if you dare not give me any, then I’ll beat everyone so that none of you can eat.”

”You have all bullied me together for so many years. From now on, none of you should think of fooling me like I’m an idiot.”

”As for the housework, either everyone does it together, or none of our kids do it. In any case, don’t think about enslaving my three kids anymore.” Second Cui defiantly laid down the law, then took his three children back to their room.

Looking at the thatched hut he had lived in for over ten years, and then at the earthen houses his other brothers lived in, those earthen bricks were made by him with painstaking efforts. But after the houses were built, he wasn’t allocated one, only a thatched hut next to the toilet.

Originally, this thatched hut was built for storing things, but his brothers insisted on reserving rooms for their children, so he had to live in the thatched hut while several nieces and nephews lived in earthen houses.

Just as Second Cui entered his room, he slammed the door open again, went to the main room, and said to the whole family, ”Back then, half of the bricks for building the houses were made by me through hard labor. So, I want to live in two of these eight earthen houses. Decide among yourselves how to make space for these two rooms, but by tomorrow night, I’ll move into the earthen houses. Otherwise, I’ll kick them all down, and nobody can live in them. It’s not fair that I worked so hard, slaving away to make bricks, only to end up living in a thatched hut while you all enjoy the best.”

Having said this, Second Cui returned to the thatched hut.
