Quick Transmigration: The Cannon Fodder's Comeback in the Era Tales

Chapter 418: Chapter 418: Remarried Widow 11

”No need, I don’t want to remarry.”

Yuan Chun held the work points book, walked aside, and no longer paid attention to Aunt Ma.

In the previous life, the original owner didn’t have much interaction with Aunt Ma, and Aunt Ma never proposed any marriage for her. Maybe because she came, it changed the course of the original owner’s life, and with more contact with Aunt Ma, Aunt Ma developed such an idea.

Fortunately, Aunt Ma is not unreasonable.

Seeing Yuan Chun’s refusal, Aunt Ma didn’t bring it up again.

Half a month later, the aunt who had previously proposed a match for the original owner came to the Mei Family, and as soon as she opened her mouth, she said she had brought a good marriage proposal for Yuan Chun.

”The other party’s conditions are excellent. Both parents are alive, living in a large house with green bricks and tiles. There are four brothers in the family, lots of laborers, the fourth one even works in the wool spinning factory in the county town, earning over twenty yuan a month. The one I’m talking about is the second brother, although he has no job, he works hard, earns ten points a day. He has two sons and a daughter under his name; the eldest son is already twelve, and the youngest daughter is seven, so you won’t need to take care of them. Marry into the family, and you’ll just be enjoying life.”

In the past life, Aunt Li said the same thing. The original owner was naïve and simple and actually believed it. She happily took her two little daughters along, thinking they would all enjoy life together.

However, the person was the second brother, neither favored nor despised, not loved by his parents. The other three brothers lived in large green brick and tile houses, only his family lived in a mudbrick house next to them, with a thatched roof. When it rained, even the quilts inside got wet.

The fourth brother had a salary, but he was favored, so all his salary was managed by his wife, and no one in the family could spend it. The couple lived happily with their two children in the county, and during the grain distribution time, they would take large bundles back to the county.

All that grain was saved by skimping off the portion for the original owner’s family.

So, saying they were going to enjoy life was a joke.

Yuan Chun sighed and said, ”Aunt Li, Da Gang just passed away a month ago, I still don’t want to remarry. I want to keep vigil for Da Gang, help raise his four children. Since the other party’s conditions are so good, I remember, Aunt Li, your niece also lost her husband recently. Why don’t you have your niece marry him? I’ll wait until my four children are grown and then decide.”

Aunt Li pursed her lips, ”If you don’t take advantage of being young now to find a family, in a few more years when you’re old and your beauty fades, what man with good conditions will want you?”

She certainly didn’t want to push her own niece into a pit of fire.

Although she kept saying that family was good, it didn’t mean marrying into it would be enjoyable. That Old Mrs. Cui was a formidable woman, keeping Second Cui strictly under her control, heeding nothing but his mother’s words.

Second Cui’s last wife was such a good woman, but Second Cui would still be harsh enough to beat her, and he actually wore that poor wife down to death.

Yuan Chun sneered, ”No means no, if they look down on me because of my age, I won’t marry.”

”I don’t want to marry into someone else’s family, living under someone’s thumb, working like a horse and plow, yet not getting enough to eat or wear. When people are in a foul mood, I’ll get beaten and scolded; I won’t go through that kind of hardship, there’s no life in that.”

”I stay at home raising four children, we’re well-fed and clothed. Though life is a bit hard, I am the head of the household in this family, I don’t need to live under someone else’s thumb, don’t need to be beaten or scolded. If I want to work, I work, if I don’t, I rest for a day.”

”When I finish raising my four children and they take care of me in old age, I’ll be so much more comfortable. Marrying into another family, working hard for a mother-in-law just to get by, providing for stepchildren’s education, supporting another family while losing oneself. When I’m old, maybe they find I’m useless and throw me out, and you call that doing me a favor? Is that enjoying life?”
