The Wizard's Pursuit of Truth

[Target: Wang Ya]

[Spiritual Power: 7.7]

[Physique: 6.4]

[Particle Energy: 3.6 Units]

[Wizard Meditation Method: Vast Sea (Basic)]

[Wizard Runes: Five]

[Extraordinary Cultivated Creature: Harak (Low-tier)]

[Mastered Witchcraft: Fear-Burning Fire, Crimson Heat, Fire Elemental Particle Energy Witchcraft]

Wang Ya clenched his fist, a strange thought occurring to him. ’I could kill a Blue Poison Monkey with a single punch.’ Perhaps it was an effect of his sudden surge in power, but considering the Blue Poison Monkey’s unimpressive physical capabilities, it wasn’t an impossible feat.

The greatest improvement, however, was in his Particle Energy Units.

The Fire Elemental Particle Energy Shield required a continuous supply of Particle Energy once cast. Though its consumption was low, the standard for its use was set at the level of a Level 1 Wizard Apprentice.

Wang Ya was now qualified to engage in a proper Wizard battle.

The Particle Energy Shield was practically standard equipment for a Wizard. No Wizard was bold enough to leave their body completely exposed during combat.

Once a battle began, the surrounding Particle Energy would be severely affected. The energy radiation from Witchcraft alone was enough to plague a Wizard for a long, long time, as it was extremely difficult to dispel.

Not to mention, the Energy Shield could also block certain abnormal substances in the air, such as poisonous mists and harmful gases.

Wang Ya considered himself bold, but he valued caution even more. Now, after casting two Witchcraft spells, he finally had the Particle Energy Units to maintain his Fire Elemental Particle Energy Shield.

[Prompt: Analyzing Extraordinary Witch Book. Estimated time: one day.]

He reined in his excitement and calmed himself. The plan ahead was clear: master the remaining Extraordinary Witch Books. It took one day to analyze a single Extraordinary Witch Book. Wang Ya calculated that it would only take him twelve days to analyze all of them.

Of course, it would take some more time to digest this Extraordinary Knowledge and truly comprehend it, but it definitely wouldn’t take more than fifteen days in total.

After fifteen days, he would go directly to Wizard Yi Si, secure his admission, and enter the Dark Wizard Academy.

Changing into his white lab coat, Wang Ya entered the small room at the very back of the cultivation chamber. It was the only space analogous to the personal laboratory found in a proper Wizard’s Residence.

Of course, this place was just a much smaller, greatly simplified version of a personal laboratory. Its functions included extraction, cultivation, observation, and refinement... Anything more was pure fantasy.

The meditation breakthrough and the subsequent increase of his Particle Energy had taken about half an hour. Inside the small incubator, the fusion of the two Extraordinary Poisons was reaching its final stage.

Wang Ya stared without blinking, his Extraordinary Spiritual Power extending from his gaze to envelop the container, allowing him to perceive the subtle changes deep inside.

The Eye of Truth’s information-gathering and analysis functions were still usable; they weren’t affected by the ongoing process.

[Prompt: The fusion of Blue Poison and Red Scale Poison is proceeding stably. Fusion completion is expected in three minutes. A detailed analysis will be required to understand the specific changes!]

「Three minutes later.」

A strange expression crossed Wang Ya’s face. The two Extraordinary Poisons in the incubator had completely fused. The resulting substance felt extremely vicious, its Extraordinary Properties potent.

It was green, with the color and sheen of wet paint. The moment he opened the incubator, a pungent odor spread so quickly that his eye twitched, and he slammed the lid shut.

But he was a step too late. A wave of dizziness washed over him, his blood circulation slowed, and even his heartbeat began to falter.

Wang Ya was terrified. It took all his effort just to place the small incubator on the lab bench, fighting through the physical discomfort caused by the trace amount of Extraordinary Poison.

’I only caught a whiff of it... and I almost collapsed. What the hell did I just create?’

Wang Ya couldn’t imagine the effects if this green Extraordinary Poison entered a person’s tissues directly. He figured they’d most likely end up foaming at the mouth and collapsing.

He was certain it would be highly lethal to a Level 1 Wizard Apprentice. Anyone afflicted by it wouldn’t escape unharmed.

As for a Level 2 Wizard Apprentice, Wang Ya wasn’t so sure. He had no frame of reference for a direct comparison.

Wang Ya named the new Extraordinary Poison ’Green Poison’.

He set aside a portion of the original poison solution to serve as a ’seed’ for cultivating more Green Poison.

He poured the remainder into a small, specially-made vial of high-strength glass. It was flat on top and widened towards the base, with a groove that looked perfectly shaped to dip a dagger into, coating its tip with the Extraordinary Poison.

”’Considering the importance of this plan, the clan spared no expense, hiring two Nameless Wizard Slayers.’ Kadi Purple Gold Flower spoke in a low voice, audible only to Mosi Bailin, who stood before him.”

They were in Mosi’s freshman quarters.

A look of surprise appeared on Mosi’s face. He knew that different Wizard Slayers had different prices and, consequently, different calibers on the black market. Wizard Slayers had their own evaluation system; the more missions a Wizard Slayer completed, the higher their rating.

The Nameless Wizard Slayers were unique. They were essentially a squad of death-sworn warriors, yet they possessed the power to kill Wizards. They hailed from the powerful underground factions of the black market—only such groups had the resources to produce them. Through a secret program, children were subjected to Witchcraft from a young age, their bodies and souls modified until they lost their identities and names, becoming nothing more than killing machines.

Mosi had some knowledge of this. Those children would be implanted with a Low-tier Extraordinary Bloodline, equipped with Low-tier Witchcraft Artifacts, and raised to their limits. Their power was considered quite formidable among Level 1 Wizard Apprentices.

There were two types of contracts for a Nameless Slayer. The first was simple assassination. The second was assassination followed by the complete and utter disposal of the slayer themselves.

The price of the latter made even Mosi’s heart jump. ’The clan is really putting everything on the line.’ For them to support his actions to this extent, it seemed the elders had been provoked by the Antuun Clan. Who knew that in just a few short decades, the gap between them could widen so drastically?

”’Using Nameless Wizard Slayers is a more reliable approach,’ Mosi said. ’In the past, the clan probably wouldn’t have supported me in doing this. They preferred a subtle, slow-and-steady approach. But things are different now.’”

”’If even one of these contracted Wizard Freshmen manages to grow and become a Level 3 Wizard Apprentice, the returns for the clan will far exceed the current investment.’”

Kadi said with a sigh, ”An elder from our direct lineage, from two batches of freshmen ago, was the one who proposed this method. It has indeed yielded great returns and allowed our clan to establish a firm foothold in the Dark Land.”

A look of yearning appeared on Mosi’s face. ”As long as we work hard, generation after generation, we will eventually develop the clan to greater heights. We’ll leave this barren port and head to the truly prosperous and glorious mainland.”

”The mainland is full of geniuses and prodigies, but I, Mosi, won’t be much worse than them. I will create a wizarding legend of my own.”

Kadi, hearing this, couldn’t help but feel a similar sense of yearning.

.....

After eating dinner at the automated cafeteria, the sky had already darkened. Fluorescent Stones on the Witch Array paths illuminated the way forward and back, as well as parts of the surrounding ancient forest.

Wang Ya had walked this path many times and knew it like the back of his hand. But tonight, for some unknown reason, a heavy feeling settled in his heart, causing his pace to slow.

A strange scent drifted through the air. It was faint, but anyone with keen senses would know what it was.

His eyes narrowed. ’It’s blood...’
