The Wizard's Pursuit of Truth

Anna walked over, followed by a group of people—all of them freshmen from the same Wizard Ship.

She wore a brilliant smile, talking and laughing with the freshmen around her. She had changed a great deal.

”Wang Ya, Anna has gotten in touch with Mosi of the Bailin Clan. That’s one of the three great Wizard Clans in Ancient Forest Wizard City.

Since we all came here on the same ship, Anna thought she’d invite you too. You can get some inside information from the Wizard Clans.”

A freshman stepped forward to explain, wearing an expression that said, ’You’ve really lucked out.’

”This information will be a massive help for our lives here on Ancient Forest Mountain. It’ll save you from making a lot of unnecessary mistakes.”

It was as if he was genuinely considering the interests of all the freshmen from their Wizard Ship.

Anna continued, ”My plan is to bring all the freshmen from our ship, and you’re no exception. It’s hard to complete the Extraordinary Cultivation Witchcraft within six months. However, Mosi and most of the other freshmen from the Wizard Clans chose it, and their cultivated creatures grow very quickly. If we ask them about it at the party, we could gain some valuable insights.”

”Wang Ya, what are you spacing out for? Just say yes! Anna is remembering our old connection, making sure to include us in such a great opportunity.”

The freshman who had spoken earlier looked excitedly at the red-haired figure. He was just like a dog, wagging its tail and whimpering softly after getting a treat.

Anna didn’t think Wang Ya would refuse her proposal.

’Two days was enough time to recognize the gap between oneself and the other wizard freshmen. The Wizard Ship was a small pond. With so many ordinary people around, it was easy for someone to think they had a shot at success.’

’Ancient Forest Mountain, on the other hand, is a much bigger world, filled with far too many exceptional people. Every freshman from the Wizard City and the Wizard Clans, backed by their vast resources, is leagues ahead of the average freshman and has a much better chance of getting into a Wizard Academy.’

Anna felt the pressure, and she had also found her goal.

She was confident no one would refuse her, but she wanted more; she was far more ambitious.

First, she needed to build her own foundation and gain enough influence to be a player. By leading the freshmen from their Wizard Ship to this party, she would indirectly become the leader of their faction.

Without a doubt, she would be the center of attention at the party.

Wang Ya’s gaze was placid, without even a flicker of emotion.

”I refuse,” he said, his voice crisp. He turned and left without a moment’s hesitation, cutting a cool figure as he departed.

Anna was stunned.

The others stared in astonishment.

’He actually refused? Doesn’t he know this is an opportunity with all upside and no downside?’

’Getting inside information would save him from so many mistakes!’

”Anna, I told you. A guy who wasn’t on our side on the ship isn’t going to be on our side here at Ancient Forest Mountain.”

The freshman who had spoken before seemed rather indignant.

The other freshmen also chimed in one after another, expressing their slight dissatisfaction.

”Alright, Rafael, there’s no need to say that. We all came from the same ship.”

Anna spoke, her expression barely changing as she maintained her smile.

She continued, ”To each their own. I secured this opportunity for everyone. If someone doesn’t want it, I can’t force it on them.”

”That guy will definitely regret this. Absolutely. He has no idea what he just missed out on.” Rafael clenched his right fist.

Anna shook her head. ’He’s just someone without a goal. A freshman like that will never pass the Ancient Forest Mountain assessment.’

’He simply hasn’t yet grasped how different things are here.’

She, in contrast, had seen more and experienced more. She understood that in addition to aptitude, you needed something else to succeed.

Wang Ya was very clear about his own goals: to shore up his weaknesses and build a solid Extraordinary Foundation.

After that, he would pass the assessment and enter the true Dark Wizard Academy.

Beyond that, nothing else mattered, and he absolutely would not waste his time.

As he walked along the cobblestone path, he had already formulated his next steps.

Suddenly, a noise drew his attention. Several monkey-like creatures were climbing a tree to his left, observing him with curious, azure eyes. Their fur was also blue.

A faint blue light flickered in his pupils.

They weren’t Extraordinary Creatures, but they possessed some Extraordinary Properties.

’That makes sense. Although the cobblestone path was made through Witch Array Refining and has some protective and repellent effects, it wouldn’t necessarily stop a true Extraordinary Creature. That would be too much of a threat to the freshmen.’

’Deeper in the Ancient Forest, where the Particle Energy is denser, there might be a whole natural world of Extraordinary Creatures.’

A quarter of an hour later, his Wizard Robe was slightly disheveled. In each hand, he held an unconscious Blue Poison Monkey by the scruff of its neck.

A slight smile touched the corners of Wang Ya’s mouth. ’Aren’t these excellent test subjects? They’ll be useful tools for verifying what I learn from the basic Extraordinary Knowledge.’

The Blue Poison Monkey has venom glands inside its claws. When fighting other beasts and creatures, its sharp claws become coated in a venom that weakens its target and coagulates their blood.

As for how he caught these Blue Poison Monkeys, beneath their seemingly soft and cute exterior, they hid a greedy desire for wizard flesh and had a vicious temperament.

The moment he stepped off the cobblestone path and took two steps into the Ancient Forest, they pounced on him like rabid dogs.

The Crimson Heat Witchcraft is a spell cast on oneself. It uses Fire Element Particle Energy to stimulate the body’s cells, activating them to a certain degree.

While active, the user’s all-around physical abilities are boosted and enhanced.

As long as the injuries don’t involve severed limbs or massive trauma, they will heal rapidly.

It also grants a certain immunity to toxins, allowing the body to expel them.

It was worth noting that Wang Ya’s casting of Fire Elemental Particle Energy Witchcraft was remarkably effective.

With his immunity to their poison and his enhanced Physique—and given the Blue Poison Monkeys weren’t physically strong to begin with—Wang Ya naturally overpowered them, knocking them unconscious and capturing them alive.

The cobblestone path was created through Witch Array Refining, and the freshmen’s residences were naturally no exception.

Within a thirty-meter radius around the residential buildings, there was a Defense Witch Array that generated a perception-misdirecting fog.

Once one’s Power reached the level of a Level 1 Wizard Apprentice, the fog would no longer have an effect.

By leaving an imprint of one’s Spiritual Power on the Array’s core, it would activate automatically when the freshman was not in their residence.

Wang Ya released his Spiritual Power, and the fog in front of him gradually parted to the sides, revealing a path leading inside.

Another reason for capturing the Blue Poison Monkeys was to study their Extraordinary Poison and compare its properties to the Red Scale Poison.

Sometimes, Wang Ya had to admit, Extraordinary Poison was very useful and could play a critical role.
