”Good... good, good!”

Yao Lao nodded repeatedly, his voice trembling as he spoke, overwhelmed with emotion. ”You two have gone to such lengths for this old man. I naturally can’t waste your efforts.”

For his resurrection, these two brats had actually prepared two Dou Sheng-level remains! Two complete Dou Sheng Skeleton! What kind of concept was that?

Yao Lao felt that even if he sold himself, it wouldn’t be worth that much. What could he possibly say at this point?

Even if he had to burn away this old body of his, he could not afford to waste such extravagant resources!

Gently setting the jade-white skeleton upon the stone platform, Wei Yang and Xiao Yan both sat cross-legged before it. They exchanged a glance and nodded. Drawing in a deep breath—

Wei Yang’s palm slowly opened.

Whoosh!

Black flames roared to life, rising like a column of smoke. The temperature in the chamber skyrocketed in an instant.

Crackle... pop!

Within the black flames, countless dark arcs of lightning danced and flashed.

”Black Sun Burning Heaven Flame,” Yao Lao murmured from across them, stroking his beard with emotion. ”So, it has already grown to such a degree...”

He still remembered their first encounter in the Tagore Desert—back then, this flame only held the power of a Dou Wang at its peak.

In the blink of an eye, it had reached Dou Zun pinnacle strength. Its growth was simply too astonishing. Even with Yao Lao’s vast knowledge, he had never heard of any Heavenly Flame evolving at such a terrifying pace.

Xiao Yan’s own purple-brown flame was different—its growth came from Flame Mantra and the fusion of five Heavenly Flames. But this Black Sun Burning Heaven Flame was like a rocket, growing purely by devouring energy!

The two were on completely different levels of evolution. However—

Yao Lao’s brows suddenly furrowed as his eyes locked onto the black flame. Though the flame was filled with spirituality, he could sense something... missing. It felt as though... its intelligence was incomplete?

Such powerful Heavenly Flame... yet its spiritual awareness seemed too low?

Beside him, Xiao Yan also wore a puzzled look. He had seen this flame many times before in fact, he had personally witnessed every stage of its growth. But now, though it brimmed with vitality, it lacked that spark of living will... a subtle but undeniable difference.

Just as they were both puzzling over it—

The thought froze in their minds. Because the black flame in Wei Yang’s hand suddenly trembled and before their stunned eyes, its color shifted, turning into a pure, liquid-like green flame!

Hua la la—

A faint sound like flowing water echoed softly through the chamber. The liquid-green flame surged and swelled, spreading with the wind as wisps of mist rose into the air.

Within that mist, a miraculous vision unfolded—countless phantom herbs sprouting and blooming, exuding a rich aura of life.

The once-scorching air grew warm and gentle. A thick, boundless life force filled the room, seeping into their pores, making their entire bodies feel relaxed and rejuvenated—as though they were soaking in a spring of pure vitality.

”Holy—!”

Both Yao Lao and Xiao Yan nearly had their eyeballs pop out, blurting out a rare curse in unison.

What in the heavens—?!

They rubbed their eyes hard and looked again.

No mistake.

It was indeed a green flame.

That sense of vitality, that life aura—if they weren’t mistaken...wasn’t this—the Fifth-ranked Heavenly Flame, the Life Spirit Flame?! Well... if you ignored the black lightning still flickering inside it.

The two turned their heads simultaneously, dumbfounded, staring wide-eyed at Wei Yang.

”You’re not seeing things,” Wei Yang said with a grin. ”It is the Life Spirit Flame—but not exactly. It merely possesses the abilities of the Life Spirit Flame.”

”...”

Yao Lao and Xiao Yan were both utterly speechless.

Did he even hear what he just said?

They could understand every single word individually—but put together, it made absolutely no sense.

What did he mean, ’just has the abilities of the Life Spirit Flame’?!

After a long silence, Yao Lao was the first to recover. His lips trembled as he asked, voice quivering,

”Brat Wei... don’t tell me—your Black Sun Burning Heaven Flame, after devouring lightning and gaining its thunder attribute... also swallowed the Life Spirit Flame, and now possesses both of their traits?”

Wei Yang nodded calmly. With a thought, the green flame flickered—turning black once more, exuding a suffocating aura of destruction. Then, another pulse—and it became green again, brimming with life.

Wei Yang said with a faint smile, ”It’s quite similar to the legendary Yin-Yang Twin Flame. A single fire, two attributes. It now wields both the destructive power of thunder fire and the vital force of life.”

”So... I renamed it—Death Life Flame.”

Hiss—!

At those words, Yao Lao and Xiao Yan both sharply drew in a breath of cold air. Inside their hearts, waves of sheer shock crashed like a raging tide.

This flame... was truly defying the heavens!

”Death Life Flame... a single flame with dual attributes—possessing both the destructive might of thunder fire and the vitality of life itself...” Yao Lao muttered under his breath, his voice trembling with awe.

Even Xiao Yan was at a loss for words. Destruction and life—two completely opposite forces—yet they had somehow merged into one, giving birth to a miraculous flame that contained both the power of creation and annihilation.

Black flame—destruction. Green flame—rebirth.

Absolutely absurd.

That was a power that belonged solely to the Life Spirit Flame!

A moment later, Yao Lao could only let out a long sigh. ”This flame... is far too heaven-defying!”

He had realized—he had still underestimated how monstrous this new Heavenly Flame truly was.

Xiao Yan silently nodded in agreement. The Three Thousand Burning Flame was hailed as the Undying Flame, yes—but even its regenerative ability was far inferior to the true power of the Life Spirit Flame.

After all, the Life Spirit Flame contained genuine Life Force. Now, the Death Life Flame, by merely possessing such ability, was already comparable to the fifth-ranked Life Spirit Flame on the Heavenly Flame Ranking!

”Then doesn’t that mean...” Xiao Yan’s eyes widened in disbelief. ”With the abilities it has now, the Death Life Flame could replace the Life Spirit Flame in rank?”

Yao Lao gave a bitter smile and shook his head. ”Forget the top five—I’d say it fully deserves to be among the top three. Perhaps even...”

He trailed off meaningfully.

On the Heavenly Flame Ranking, aside from the nonexistent Emperor Flame in first place the second was Nihility Devouring Flame, and the third, Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame.

Those two flames were unique existences in all of heaven and earth—the closest to the Emperor Flame itself.

But now, Death Life Flame had the qualifications to contend for that same position. Perhaps soon, the Heavenly Flame Ranking would experience an earth-shattering upheaval. If the Death Life Flame were to leap to fourth, or even second place, it would not be surprising at all.

It would stand as one of the three truly unique Heavenly Flames in existence—alongside the Nihility Devouring Flame and Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame. Because this flame was too unnatural, too impossible—the birth of even one was a miracle. There could never be a second.

Yao Lao was certain of that beyond any doubt. Then, his gaze shifted—and the pressure suddenly landed squarely on Xiao Yan. Given the special nature of Flame Mantra, Xiao Yan’s own flames would, sooner or later, also possess the potential to challenge the Emperor Flame itself.

At the speed these two were growing... in a few short years, the battle for the top five of the Heavenly Flame Ranking would become unimaginably fierce. Nihility Devouring Flame, Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame, Death Life Flame, and the Flame Mantra’s evolving fire—four singular flames, all with the potential to ascend to the peak.

Who would ultimately claim the throne of the strongest flame under heaven?

Of course... if Xiao Yan ever managed to devour both the Nihility Devouring Flame and Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame, then there’d be nothing left to compete for. At that point, the final duel would be between only two flames—the Death Life Flame and the Flame Mantra’s evolved fire.

That thought made Yao Lao chuckle helplessly to himself.

”What am I thinking...”

To swallow the Nihility Devouring Flame and Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame?

Even he didn’t dare imagine such madness.

”Wei Yang,” Yao Lao’s tone suddenly grew grave, ”You must never, ever reveal the true nature of the Death Life Flame to anyone. At least not until you’ve reached the level of a high-level Dou Sheng.”

A gentleman’s crime lies not in his deeds, but in the treasure he carries.

”I know,” Wei Yang smiled faintly. ”Don’t worry. I’ve always kept it hidden. To the world, only the black flame exists. As for the green flame—if it weren’t for the need to refine your body today, I wouldn’t have revealed it at all.”

He added lightly, ”Besides, the green flame represents the power of life. In battle, I rarely have any need to use it. For offense, the black flame is more than enough.”

”That’s exactly how it should be.” Yao Lao nodded approvingly, visibly relieved.

Xiao Yan exhaled a long breath and grinned. ”Brother Wei, I have to admit—you sure know how to keep secrets.”

Quietly and without a sound, he had devoured the Life Spirit Flame.

Damn.

Still, neither Yao Lao nor Xiao Yan found any fault in his concealment—on the contrary, they agreed it was the wisest thing to do.

A flame this heaven-defying—the deeper it was hidden, the better. If word of it ever spread...even the ancient clans of this world would go mad over it.
