Boom~

The earth trembled.

The two massive skeletons on the plains began to shudder and twitch. Gradually, they floated up into the air.

Crash~

A torrent of soil tumbled down in waves.

As the skeletons rose, a vast and ancient aura spread out quietly, filled with desolation from the distant past. As this aura surfaced, the Dou Qi circulating within Xiao Yan and the others began to stagnate once more.

”Is this the residual power of the Ancient Heavenly Phoenix? Or its lingering soul?”

Sensing the overwhelming might within that aura, Xiao Yan and the others’ expressions changed drastically. They immediately took flight and gathered behind Wei Yang. They saw that ancient aura coalescing into a massive golden phantom of a Heavenly Phoenix high above the heavens.

Cry~

The resonant cry of a phoenix echoed across the world. With the flap of its wings, brilliant golden light surged outward, carrying with it an energy storm powerful enough to destroy heaven and earth.

Roar~

Then, another earth-shattering dragon’s roar erupted.

A gigantic purple Ancient Dragon phantom appeared, releasing an even more terrifying pressure than that of the Heavenly Phoenix. It coiled across the void, and as it raised its head to roar, faint violet sound waves spread forth.

Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!

The violet ripples clashed violently with the golden radiance, causing space itself to crumble and dissolve inch by inch.

”Ancestor Soul of the Heavenly Phoenix!” Zi Yan’s delicate face lit up with excitement. She clenched her little fists and shouted, ”But too bad, my Ancient Void Dragon’s ancestor soul seems to be stronger!”

Wei Yang and the others, however, wore solemn expressions.

A battle that had spanned across ancient time seemed to be continuing once again at this very moment. The golden and purple energy shockwaves carried world-destroying power, sweeping outward in every direction.

Wei Yang gazed at the two colossal figures battling in the void. Then, as the devastating shockwave rushed toward them, he merely lifted his hand and pressed down lightly.

Buzz~

An invisible spatial force spread out, blocking the oncoming impact.

”Didn’t expect that after all these years, these two skeletons would still retain their residual souls.”

Xiao Yan couldn’t help but exclaim, ”And even as mere remnants, they still possess such terrifying power. It’s impossible to imagine how fearsome they must have been at their peak!”

Just the aftershocks of their clash were enough to shatter and destroy space itself along the way — a terrifying display of their might.

Wei Yang nodded slightly. He glanced at the two massive skeletons hovering above the plains, a flicker of awe in his heart. These Ancient Void Dragon and Ancient Heavenly Phoenix even after countless years since their deaths still carried such power with only a remnant soul left behind.

It was clear that in life, both of them had at least been at the Dou Sheng level. Judging by their aura alone, the Ancient Void Dragon was undoubtedly the stronger of the two.

That oppressive might was beyond description.

Even from this distance, Wei Yang could feel the immense pressure weighing upon him. However...

His gaze flickered as it landed on the two skeletons, and he quietly licked his lips. These were two Dou Sheng corpses!

Cry~

The golden phoenix shrieked, its wings flaring wide as it dived down with blinding speed. Its enormous golden claws, as solid as reality, tore toward the void itself.

Wei Yang and the others instantly felt the heavens darken. They quickly descended and landed on the altar below, lifting their heads to watch.

Under the colossal shadow cast by that mighty being, an unbearable sense of oppression rose within them, filling their hearts with the thought that resistance was futile. This power... was far too overwhelming.

”So this... is the strength of a Dou Sheng.” Wei Yang murmured.

Roar~

The enormous body of the Ancient Void Dragon spiraled upward, its roars shaking the heavens. With claws bared and teeth gnashing, it crashed head-on with the golden phoenix. That entire section of void shattered completely, disintegrating into nothingness.

A vast black hole, stretching hundreds of feet wide, appeared in the sky — and even space itself seemed unable to heal. That endless darkness, so deep it felt capable of devouring one’s very soul, sent chills through everyone’s heart.

Roar~

The dragon’s roar thundered once again. Its massive claw descended like a falling mountain, pinning the golden phoenix down and trapping it within the collapsing space.

The phoenix struggled violently, golden light bursting forth in dazzling brilliance like a sun flaring to life.

”My clan’s ancestor is winning!” Zi Yan cheered softly.

Wei Yang and the others nodded slightly. It wasn’t hard to tell — from the very beginning, the golden phoenix had been completely overpowered by the dragon.

Cry~

The phoenix screeched in fury, and the golden radiance within its body suddenly flared to its peak, burning like a golden flame. From afar, it looked like a golden sun rising within the collapsing void of darkness.

The brilliant golden light burst forth, breaking free from the dragon’s suppression. Then, with a powerful beat of its wings, the phoenix turned into a streak of golden light, shooting straight toward the ancient dragon.

Roar~

The Ancient Void Dragon let out a thunderous roar and charged upward, colliding head-on with that golden meteor.

Rumble~

In the deafening explosion that followed, the Heavenly Phoenix was once again thrown backward. The dragon’s enormous body twisted like a giant serpent, coiling tightly around the phoenix’s massive form. Then, it began to constrict—slowly tightening.

Crack, crack, crack~

Cry~

The phoenix screamed in agony.

Roar~

The Ancient Void Dragon’s colossal body gave a savage twist, and with a force capable of tearing apart heaven and earth, it crushed the phoenix’s body, shattering it into countless golden fragments of light.

Cry~

With one final, sorrowful cry echoing through the heavens and earth, the golden fragments fell like snowflakes, scattering across the sky. The Heavenly Phoenix’s vast body had completely vanished.

Roar~

Upon the slowly healing void, only the massive dragon remained, coiling in the air and roaring toward the heavens. Within that roar was pride—and a faint trace of melancholy.

”The residual soul of the Ancient Heavenly Phoenix has been completely destroyed.” Wei Yang and the others looked up in awe at the sight before them.

Hearing that dragon’s roar, tinged with sorrow, a dull ache welled up in their hearts. Even Dou Sheng, no matter how powerful they had once been, must eventually return to dust after death.

Swish!

A small figure suddenly shot into the sky. Her cheeks were streaked with tears as she soared through the golden rain of light, shouting up toward the dragon, ”Ancestor!”

The dragon slowly lowered its head, gazing down. Its enormous eyes fixed upon the tiny figure—within that gaze flickered confusion, but also warmth and kindness. The two—one massive, one small—stared at each other from afar.

After a moment, the dragon let out a low growl toward Zi Yan, filled with comfort... and what seemed to be a trace of pleading.

”Don’t worry, Ancestor, I’ll bring your bones back to our clan and lay you to rest in the Dragon Tomb.” Zi Yan clenched her little fists, nodding firmly.

Roar~

The dragon’s cry carried a sense of peace and joy. Then, its body shone with a dazzling violet light as it began to shrink rapidly, transforming into a small dragon that dove down through the golden rain of light, re-entering the enormous dragon skeleton floating below.

Seeing this, Wei Yang waved his hand.

Whoosh~

A sea of black flames spread rapidly, unfurling like a carpet across the ground, catching the golden fragments of light that were falling through the air. These soul fragments would not last long—if left alone, they would soon disperse into the world and return to the embrace of the earth.

But Wei Yang had gathered them instead. After all, this was the residual soul of a Dou Sheng-level Ancient Heavenly Phoenix—soul fragments of the Heaven Realm. There was no way he would allow them to simply fade away and go to waste.

As the black sea of fire gradually receded, it returned before him. A golden orb of light, about the size of a fist, gently landed in Wei Yang’s palm. Lowering his gaze, he could sense from it an incredibly dense spiritual power—and a vicious, feral aura.

This golden soul orb had formed from the countless fragments of the phoenix’s shattered soul. The last remnants of the Ancient Heavenly Phoenix’s consciousness had already crumbled completely along with its soul; what remained now was nothing but a fused mass of raw soul energy.

Even so, traces of that savage intent still lingered within.

”This should be quite useful for Ah Da.” Wei Yang smiled.

His hands formed seals in quick succession, sealing the golden orb to prevent its power from leaking away. Then, he placed it into a jade bottle and stored it with a flip of his hand.
