**

Deep within the Death Soul Mountain Range.

Cold mist coiled endlessly, blotting out the sky and sun, never dispersing through the years.

Suddenly—

A gigantic black mushroom cloud slowly rose, shooting straight into the heavens. From afar, it was like a black sun had fallen into the mountains and then exploded. Endless black radiance bloomed, so dazzling it hurt the eyes even from a great distance.

Following right after came a visible, ring-shaped shockwave, spreading outward with blazing heat, destroying everything in its path like dried grass swept aside. Even the cold mist that had lingered for countless years was swept away entirely.

Crackle, crackle~

Black lightning streaked across the sky, weaving and tearing through the void. This scene was truly like doomsday descending — that valley had turned into hell itself. Only after that came an ear-splitting roar, belatedly echoing through the mountains.

Rumble rumble rumble~

Billowing dust spread outward with the sound, radiating in all directions like a wave.

The heavens trembled, the earth split apart!

Countless beasts panicked and fled. When the dust finally settled—

That valley had completely vanished, replaced by a massive sunken basin, as though struck by a meteorite. The towering black hall, the Dou Zun, everything had disappeared without a trace. The heat here was terrifyingly intense.

Within the basin, only raging black flames burned, black lightning darting through them. High above in the sky, a sea of black flames poured downward like a waterfall of fire, converging into the basin below.

Swish! Swish!

At the edge of the basin, space rippled, and two black figures emerged — Wei Yang and Ah Da. Feeling the searing heat rushing at him and gazing upon the masterpiece he had created with his own hands, Wei Yang stood in midair, quietly admiring it.

Not bad!

No wonder it had taken him so long to charge up this move.

A true Ten Sun Destruction!

Wei Yang clasped his hands behind his back, looking rather pleased with himself. This move was one hundred percent his own creation. As for those few who had been rushing through the spatial passage during the explosion — who knew what had become of them.

He imagined it must have been rather miserable.

”Master’s Ten Sun Destruction is the most powerful Dou Technique I’ve ever seen!” Ah Da bent slightly at the waist, his tone filled with awe.

He had seen Heaven Grade Dou Techniques before.

Not to mention, Wei Yang’s other move, the Black Sun Burning Heaven Palm, was a genuine Heaven Grade Dou Technique. That one also launched a black sun that exploded, but compared to Ten Sun Destruction, its power was clearly far inferior.

”The power’s good, but the prep time is a bit long, the release consumes a lot, and it doesn’t distinguish friend from foe. Once I throw it, even I have to run far away. Other than that, there’s not much of a downside.” Wei Yang nodded.

It was like a nuclear explosion — all beings equal. Of course, as long as he controlled it properly and didn’t foolishly rush into the center himself, there wouldn’t be a problem.

”Compared to its power, such a small drawback is nothing.” Ah Da bent slightly again, smiling.

Wei Yang also chuckled. This Ten Sun Destruction was like a bomb — the amount of energy injected determined the power of the final explosion. But once the bomb was thrown and detonated, if you didn’t run, you’d get blown up all the same — nothing strange about that.

”It’s just a pity so many soul bodies were reduced to ash along with this explosion.” Ah Da licked his lips slightly, a hint of regret in his tone.

”Hm?” Wei Yang’s expression instantly turned cold.

”Ah Da knows he was wrong.” Ah Da’s heart jumped, realizing his slip. He immediately prostrated himself in the void.

Damn, he’d said the wrong thing.

”I’ve told you before — soul devouring depends on the target.” Wei Yang looked down at him without expression, speaking softly.

”Yes yes yes, Master, I was muddle-headed and said the wrong thing.” Ah Da trembled, hastily explaining.

”I don’t care who you were before. But if you’re following me now, you follow my rules.” Wei Yang withdrew his gaze. ”Get up.”

”Yes, Ah Da understands. Thank you, Master.” Ah Da rose, wiping the cold sweat from his forehead.

Wei Yang let out a soft snort. This guy was bold and unrestrained by nature — he had to knock him down a peg every so often. Of course, this didn’t mean Ah Da had any rebellious thoughts toward Wei Yang — as a soul slave, that was impossible.

It was just that as Ah Da’s strength recovered and he refined the Nine Serene Wind Flame, his power had surpassed what it once was, and naturally his mentality was beginning to change. His mindset was starting to get a bit arrogant.

After all, the former You Hun Zun Zhe had always been the great demon type.

But Wei Yang was not that kind of person, so he had to draw a clear line — to set rules, what could be done and what could not, and those rules must be followed. He couldn’t let Ah Da act on impulse as he pleased.

After giving Ah Da a warning, Wei Yang’s gaze turned back toward the blazing basin below.Stretching out his palm, his mind stirred.

Whoosh~

The black flames filling the basin seemed to be summoned by something, turning into countless pillars of fire that surged toward Wei Yang’s hand, finally merging into his body and vanishing.

If left unchecked, those black flames would continue to burn until their energy was exhausted before extinguishing themselves.

Anyway, since he had time, Wei Yang decided to collect them back. As the final wisp of black flame disappeared, the steaming crimson magma beneath was revealed. As the surrounding temperature gradually dropped, the magma began to cool slowly.

Cold mist started to flow back in. Glancing at the spot where the great palace had once stood, he recalled the countless souls imprisoned within. With that massive explosion, they had all turned to dust.

Wei Yang exhaled softly and murmured, ”You all lived in such pain. For you, this is a kind of release.”

After one last look at the scene, he said calmly, ”Let’s go.”

Ah Da quickly followed behind.

A few days later.

In Holy Pill City, at the Wei Mansion.

When Wei Yang returned with Ah Da, Xian’er and the others had already come back as well. Even the two little ones, Wei Ye and Wei Shuo, had been brought home by Xian’er. Everyone gathered together in the courtyard.

Wei Yang swept his gaze across the group and asked, ”Where are Xiao Yan and Yao Lao?”

”In the secret chamber,” Feng Zun Zhe replied. ”Yao Chen’s soul is too weak and exhausted. Not long after we came back, he fell into deep sleep. Xiao Yan is helping him recover.”

Speaking of this, Feng Zun Zhe’s voice turned cold with anger. ”Damn Hall of Souls, to have tortured Yao Chen like this.”

The renowned Yao Zun, a peak Nine-Change Dou Zun and soul at the peak of the Spirit Realm, now so frail — it was beyond imagination.

Wei Yang stayed silent.

Yao Lao had truly suffered a lifetime of hardship. Years ago, he’d been tricked by Hall of Souls and Han Feng, losing his body and falling into slumber within a ring for decades before finally awakening.

He’d only just managed to recover some strength in recent years, only to be captured again by Hall of Souls. And in their hands, for all these years... one could only imagine the torment.

”As long as he’s alive, that’s what matters. The debt with Hall of Souls, we’ll settle it slowly later.” Wei Yang said quietly.

”Mm.” Feng Zun Zhe nodded, then clasped his hands toward everyone with a smile. ”This time, to have successfully rescued Yao Chen, I must thank you all.”

”Feng Zun Zhe, you’re too polite.” Everyone smiled in response.

”Yao Lao is also my teacher in a way. I couldn’t just stand by and do nothing.” Wei Yang chuckled.

Looking at Wei Yang, Feng Zun Zhe’s eyes showed a complicated emotion. He sighed softly and said nothing more. He felt it was such a pity.

Xiao Yan was Yao Lao’s direct disciple, while Wei Yang was merely a student. A student was a student; a disciple was a disciple. They weren’t the same.

It was like the difference between someone who pays to learn and shares a bond of respect — and someone who inherits the master’s legacy.

That, Feng Zun Zhe thought, was truly a pity. By all logic, whether in character, strength, or talent, Wei Yang was among the very best. Feng Zun Zhe couldn’t quite understand what Yao Chen had been thinking back then.

How could he not have taken such an exceptional young man as his disciple?

Over this period, Feng Zun Zhe had also spoken with Xiao Yan. From those conversations, he’d roughly learned about the events that had taken place in the Jia Ma Empire years ago.

Over ten years ago, Wei Yang had been nothing more than a young and inexperienced man just stepping into the world. Thinking of it now, Feng Zun Zhe couldn’t help but feel a pang of regret.

Now, it was too late.

Suddenly, something struck him, and realization dawned.

Flame Mantra!

The biggest issue... must have been that. Perhaps that was the root of the conflict back then between Yao Chen and Wei Yang.

Understanding this, Feng Zun Zhe fell silent again.

In the end, everything still came back to Flame Mantra.
