”Looks like the life force of this Ancient Heavenly Phoenix is clearly weaker than that of this Ancient Void Dragon.”

Wei Yang said as he looked at the two massive skeletons, ”From the Beast Spiritual Barrier outside, the golden glow shows it’s mainly being controlled by the aura of the Ancient Void Dragon.”

Xiao Yan nodded, then turned to Zi Yan and asked, ”What do you plan to do now?”

”The Dragon Phoenix Origin Fruit must be taken away by me, and it has to be done quietly, without alerting anyone. Otherwise, if the Heaven Demon Phoenix Clan gets wind of it, they’ll go insane.”

Zi Yan’s small face was full of seriousness as she said, ”Between our two clans, whichever one obtains this Dragon Phoenix Origin Fruit will be able to evolve a true Supreme Beast — one who possesses both the Dragon and Phoenix bloodlines!”

”So this Dragon Phoenix Origin Fruit absolutely cannot fall into the hands of the Heaven Demon Phoenix Clan. Otherwise, my Ancient Void Dragon Clan will face great danger.”

Hearing this, Wei Yang and the other two nodded in agreement.

The Ancient Void Dragon Clan and the Heaven Demon Phoenix Clan had always been mortal enemies — as incompatible as fire and water. Every time they met, it would end in a violent battle. Once the news of this Dragon Phoenix Origin Fruit got out, the consequences were easy to imagine.

Wei Yang, however, was thinking even deeper. The Ancient Void Dragon Clan nowadays was already a scattered mess. It was in a state of division — many dragons had left because they refused to fight their own kin, choosing instead to wander through the void.

In the original story, because of this very Dragon Phoenix Origin Fruit, the Ancient Void Dragon Clan broke into a great civil war.

Since Dragon Emperor Zhu Kun wasn’t around, the three Dragon Kings had wanted to kill Zi Yan — the royal princess who carried the Dragon Phoenix Origin Fruit — in advance, so they wouldn’t have to accept her rule in the future.

Hmm?

Suddenly, Wei Yang frowned slightly, his gaze shifting toward the direction from which they had entered.

”What’s wrong?” Xiao Yan asked immediately.

”Someone’s outside — people from the Heaven Demon Phoenix Clan. They must’ve sensed the bloodline’s call and came here. But A Da has already stopped them.” Wei Yang said.

”Zi Yan, hurry up and take the Dragon Phoenix Origin Fruit.” Xiao Yan urged at once.

Zi Yan quickly nodded, turned around, and walked toward the stone platform. She bit her finger, letting blood cover her hand. Then, carefully, she reached out her small hand to touch the Dragon Phoenix Origin Fruit.

The moment her hand made contact, the fruit burst out in blinding gold and purple light. Immediately after, the Dragon Phoenix Origin Fruit transformed into a stream of golden and purple liquid, which flowed into Zi Yan’s hand before silently seeping into her body.

As the liquid disappeared, a strange marking appeared in her palm. It was exactly the shape of the Dragon Phoenix Origin Fruit.

”This thing’s energy is too terrifying. I can only seal it within my body for now. Later, one of the elders from my clan will have to deal with it.” Zi Yan turned around and looked at the marking on her palm, speaking softly.

”Come here.” Wei Yang beckoned to her.

Zi Yan, a little puzzled, walked up to him.

”Give me your hand.”

”What for?” Zi Yan raised her small hand, blinking her light-purple eyes at Wei Yang.

Wei Yang didn’t answer. He took her hand, closed his eyes slightly, and from between his brows, a vast tide of soul power surged out, causing the surrounding space to twist and blur.

Then, his fingers swiftly formed a series of hand seals. The gathered soul power condensed into a faintly black rune, which he pressed into Zi Yan’s palm.

Buzz~

A faint ripple spread out from her palm.

Instantly, the Dragon Phoenix Origin Fruit’s marking slowly faded, sinking beneath her skin and disappearing completely. Even the slight fluctuation of energy was now completely hidden.

After finishing, Wei Yang exhaled softly and smiled, ”Alright, I’ve added another layer of sealing over yours. Unless someone has stronger soul power than mine, no one should be able to detect the existence of the Dragon Phoenix Origin Fruit.”

”Oh.” Zi Yan nodded her little head, curiously turning her palm over and staring at it — it now looked completely normal.

In reality, beneath her skin, inside the flesh, there was a faint black sphere. Within that sphere was an isolated space, where the Dragon Phoenix Origin Fruit was sealed and wrapped tightly.

”For now, don’t tell your clan about this. Once we’re done with the ruins and Yao Lao has been successfully resurrected, I’ll take you somewhere to deal with this Dragon Phoenix Origin Fruit properly.” Wei Yang said slowly, his tone turning serious.

”Ah? Why?” Zi Yan asked in surprise, her big eyes full of confusion.

Xiao Yan, meanwhile, looked thoughtful.

”Just listen. Don’t ask so much.” Wei Yang didn’t answer her question. He simply raised his hand and flicked her forehead.

”Ouch!” Zi Yan immediately covered her head, eyes watering as she glared pitifully at Wei Yang. She even bared her little teeth, looking like she was about to bite him hard — but she didn’t dare to actually pounce.

If it were Xiao Yan, she would’ve already bitten him without hesitation. But when it came to Wei Yang... she didn’t quite have the courage.

Xiao Yan couldn’t help but chuckle at the sight. He quickly pulled Zi Yan closer and whispered, ”Just listen to Brother Wei, will you? Do you really think he’d harm you?”

”Then why can’t I even tell the Elders of my clan?” Zi Yan pouted, her little face tense as she muttered under her breath, still sneaking a sideways glance at Wei Yang.

”The Dragon Phoenix Origin Fruit involves too much. Such benefits can easily stir greed in any dragon’s heart. Your clan... I’m afraid it’s not entirely united either.” Xiao Yan sighed helplessly.

Zi Yan lowered her head and fell silent.

She had returned to her clan for a while, and naturally understood many of the hidden issues within the current Ancient Void Dragon Clan. The once unimaginably powerful Ancient Void Dragon Clan had long since splintered apart.

Its former glory was no more.

Many of the older dragons had left, and because of that, the clan’s strength had plummeted to a low point — far from what it used to be.

Wei Yang stood at the edge of the altar, lost in thought, his mind preoccupied with something. Qing Lin quietly walked over and gently took one of his hands. ”Young master, what are you thinking about?”

Wei Yang glanced at Qing Lin, smiled faintly, but didn’t answer.

Only now did he suddenly remember — the Ancient Heaven Serpent Soul didn’t seem to be inside this Ancient Ruin at all. In the original story, when Qing Lin reunited with Xiao Yan in this ruin, she already possessed the Ancient Heaven Serpent Soul.

He thought carefully, combing through the original plot in his mind, and finally recalled vaguely — Qing Lin had obtained the Ancient Heavenly Serpent Soul from an ancient mountain range somewhere in Central Plains, right after she first arrived there.

At first, Wei Yang had misunderstood and assumed it had been found within this Ancient Ruin.

”My memory really is awful.” Wei Yang smacked his forehead in frustration.

Too much time had passed — he had forgotten many details of the story. Now, he was starting to worry. Where could he possibly find that Ancient Heaven Serpent Soul?

The Central Plains was vast, filled with countless ancient mountain ranges. Searching for it would be like looking for a needle in a haystack. And Qing Lin, once she obtained the Ancient Heaven Serpent Soul, would become truly terrifying.

She would be guaranteed to reach the high-level Dou Sheng realm. That thing was on the same level as the Nine-Colored Heaven Swallowing Python — one of the original ancestors of all serpent-type magic beasts. And even more, it was a mutated form — one with nine heads.

”Brother Wei, since the Dragon Phoenix Origin Fruit is already secured, let’s head out.” Xiao Yan approached, smiling lightly.

He was rather curious about that Heaven Grade Dou Technique. Now that their business here was finished, it was time to go check out the commotion.

Wei Yang composed himself, shook his head slightly, and looked over the desolate crimson plains beneath the Beast Spiritual Barrier. He spoke slowly, ”To ensure the news of the Dragon Phoenix Origin Fruit never leaks out, we have to destroy this entire place before we leave.”

”Destroy this place?” Xiao Yan was momentarily stunned, then nodded.

Indeed, rather than leave traces for others to find, it was better to completely erase everything here.

Zi Yan hurried over and said, ”Wei Yang, can you help me take my clan’s ancestor’s remains with us?”

As she spoke, she pointed her small hand toward the vast red earth below, at the outline of that massive pale dragon skeleton, and said softly, ”I want to bring it back to my clan for burial.”

”Of course.” Wei Yang gently patted her head and nodded.

He stepped toward the stone platform, where a small, ancient-looking tree took root inside a little stone pool — its gnarled form coiled like a dragon. With a wave of his hand, he uprooted it entirely, placed it inside a jade box, sealed it, and put it away.

Then, his figure slowly rose into the air, hovering above the altar.

Whoo... whoo... whoo...

His robes and long black hair fluttered despite the still air.

A vast tide of soul power erupted from the center of his brow, surging outward like a tidal wave and spreading rapidly until it filled the entire interior of the Beast Spiritual Barrier. Then, his soul power began to sink deep into the crimson earth below.
