Elevator Survival: Master of Every Floor

Unknown parasiteThe examination light shone on Wang Yan’s teeth, and Doctor Jia put on his gloves and carefully observed with a magnifying glass.

”Hmm, it’s confirmed. There’s definitely something moving inside your wife’s gums. This might be the root cause of her toothache.”

Doctor Jia said, taking out a pair of tweezers, wanting to see what these wriggling things actually were.

”Doctor, these aren’t worms, are they?”

Zhang Tao also saw the continuously wriggling linear organisms under the gums through the magnifying glass.

”Very likely, but in all my years of practice, I’ve never seen a patient with worms in their gums.”

As he spoke, Doctor Jia gently pressed down on a wriggling linear organism with the tweezers.

”Hmm, they are indeed worms. Hiss, but what kind of worms are they? So long. Horsehair worms? Definitely not.”

”Alright, you go sign the papers first. I’ll cut open your wife’s gums and take a look. That’s the only way now.”

”Okay, okay, I’ll go now.”

Zhang Tao hurriedly and flusteredly left the department.

The sight of those wriggling lines made his scalp tingle.

Soon, Zhang Tao, who had finished paying, returned to the ward.

At this point, Doctor Jia was also ready for the incision.

Because it was just a quick look, it wasn’t prepared like a full surgery.

After injecting the anesthetic, Doctor Jia gently made an incision with a scalpel.

”Hiss!”

”What’s wrong, Doctor?”

Zhang Tao quickly ran over, tensed.

”Take a look. These worms... I can’t even say what they are. I need to consult some material.”

As he spoke, he took out his phone, took a photo, and sent it to an old professor who had taught him previously.

After doing all that, Doctor Jia changed to new gloves and put on a mask and safety goggles.

Wang Yan’s mouth was now crawling with white threadworms.

They even looked like they were about to crawl out. Zhang Tao, standing by, wanted to help but didn’t know how, so he could only pace back and forth uneasily.

”Don’t rush. I’ll try to clear these worms out.”

After saying that, Doctor Jia took tweezers and cotton balls and began to clear the blood and worms from her mouth.

All the worms that were pulled out were placed into a container with saline solution.

Once in the saline solution, these white threadworms gradually lost their vitality.

However, a full thirty minutes passed like this.

The worms emerging from her gums showed no signs of decreasing.

Doctor Jia was drenched in sweat, and his hands even began to tremble.

”No, no, this won’t do. Someone else needs to continue. Xiaolin, go get Brother Song.”

”Okay, Doctor Jia.”

”Your wife’s condition seems very serious. How can one person’s gums contain so many worms?”

Doctor Jia said, taking off his safety goggles and gloves, wanting to rest.

However, at that moment, Wang Yan, who was lying on the bed, suddenly sat up.

Her whites of her eyes were densely covered with bloodshot veins.

”What’s wrong? Are you uncomfortable somewhere?”

Zhang Tao asked with concern, but Wang Yan suddenly turned her head and let out a roar at him.

This scene startled Zhang Tao, causing him to instinctively retreat several steps.

Doctor Jia, who was resting, also noticed this and wanted to come over to comfort Wang Yan and tell her not to be afraid. However, as soon as he stood up, he was tackled to the ground by Wang Yan.

With one bite, blood splattered.

Fortunately, Doctor Jia exercised regularly, and with a strong push, he managed to push Wang Yan away. He then quickly went to the sink to clean his wound, but it was still too late; those white threadworms had already entered his body through the wound.

The wound was on his neck, so he couldn’t bring himself to make a decisive cut to sever it.

If he did that, he would truly die.

Just then, Wang Yan, who had been pushed down, struggled to her feet again, wanting to continue biting Doctor Jia.

At this moment, Zhang Tao timely embraced his wife, using grappling techniques to firmly restrain her.

”Roar!!”

Watching his wife continuously emit beast-like roars, Zhang Tao felt utterly despairing.

Suddenly, the intense struggle ceased, and Wang Yan, controlled by Zhang Tao, went limp like a rag doll.

Soon after, a large number of white threadworms emerged from her mouth, eyes, ears—every opening was densely occupied by the white threadworms.

”Oh no! Close the door quickly! There’s a fire extinguisher by the door. We can’t let these worms escape.”

After saying that, Doctor Jia disregarded his own injury, picked up the saline solution, and poured it on the areas where the worms were clustering.

Then, the fire extinguisher was opened, spraying furiously near Wang Yan.

Fortunately, both men acted quickly, and the crawling worms were all confined to the immediate area.

”Doctor, Doctor, is my wife... alright?”

After putting down the fire extinguisher, Zhang Tao asked nervously.

”This... I’m just a dentist. I can’t make a decision. How about this, I’ll help you push her to the emergency room, and let the doctors there see what’s going on.”

Zhang Tao nodded repeatedly. At this point, Wang Yan had fallen unconscious, and besides the worms still crawling out of her mouth, there were no other symptoms.

Seeing this, Doctor Jia also took out a hazmat suit and put it on Wang Yan.

With the isolation of the hazmat suit, even if the worms crawled out, they wouldn’t scatter everywhere.

Soon, the two pushed Wang Yan all the way to the emergency room.

There happened to be an empty bed, so the two of them worked together to lift Wang Yan onto it and explained the situation to the doctors there.

Hearing about such a unique patient, the emergency room doctors had to respond cautiously and specifically found a private room for her, to prevent those unknown worms from escaping.

Doctor Jia, having done all this, also quickly left.

Don’t forget, he had also been bitten by Wang Yan, so feeling uneasy, he prepared to undergo a full body check-up at the hospital and properly treat his wound.

...................

On the hospital bed, several experts arrived after hearing the news, and even a few professors specializing in parasitology were on their way.

Under the cautious gaze of everyone, the zipper of the hazmat suit was pulled open.

When everyone saw the scene inside the hazmat suit, they immediately held their breath.

”This... I’ve truly never seen a situation like this. Are you sure these worms weren’t put in there intentionally?”

”You’re spouting nonsense! Am I sick? To put worms inside my own wife’s body?”

Zhang Tao, seeing his wife’s tragic state, and hearing the professor in front of him say such an illogical thing, immediately became furious.

After calming down, he quickly apologized.

However, another expert recognized his identity: the Yan City Police Chief.

Zhang Tao was usually very low-key, so very few people recognized him.

The doctors present, hearing that this was the Chief’s wife, became more serious.
