Chapter 1152: Chapter 1186: If I Don’t Tell the Truth, I Feel Uncomfortable

”In that case, why think too much about it? If you’re really tired, you should rest well. Anyway, the Nantian Gang has stabilized now. Huayu is in complete disarray at the moment; if you really want to take them over, it’s only a matter of time.” Zhang Mengjie lifted her delicate head, and her charming face made one want to take a bite.

”That’s the only thing we can do right now. Many decisions have to wait until Huayu stabilizes,” Lin Zifeng said, stroking Zhang Mengjie’s smooth, delicate face, feeling very gratified.

Currently, the only person who can help him is someone as selfless as Zhang Mengjie.

”By the way, how is Liu Ruyan doing as the CEO? Is she managing well?”

Lin Zifeng asked.

In his eyes, Liu Ruyan’s lifestyle was luxurious and extravagant. She came from a distinguished family, but in terms of work, Lin Zifeng wasn’t very impressed. Frankly speaking, the main reason Lin Zifeng appointed Liu Ruyan as the CEO of Huayu was to give her an opportunity to gain some experience and also to save face for his formidable wife.

”Oh, Lin, you’re quite concerned about her, aren’t you? No wonder you kept recommending her for the CEO position at Huayu. So, you’ve been focused on her all along?”

Zhang Mengjie gave Lin Zifeng a fierce pinch on his soft waist, glaring at him with an innocuous smile on her face.

”Ouch! Are you trying to pinch me to death?”

Her pinch wasn’t light, and it almost made someone cry.

Isn’t this a bit extreme for jealousy? I have nothing to do with her at all.

Lin Zifeng looked at her with a troubled expression, ”Are you jealous of her?”

”Haha! Me, jealous? You underestimate me, Zhang Mengjie. When I used to run a bar, I encountered countless charming men, and there was a sea of people pursuing me. How could I be jealous over such a trivial matter?”

Zhang Mengjie stood up, her short hair swayed dashingly, the image was incredibly stunning.

”Hehe, I thought so too. Other than having a better family background, I really can’t see how Liu Ruyan is better than you in any way.”

Lin Zifeng slowly stood up, took a few steps with a heroic bearing, and said, ”Who is Sister Zhang of the Butterfly Gang? She’s a woman who walked out of the chaos of knives and swords—well, no! She walked out of a world of swords and blades. She has the figure, and she looks amazing. There’s no way a spendthrift queen like her can compare.”

Damn, Liu Ruyan, Liu Ruyan, because of you, I’ve offended this lady. For now, I’ll just speak ill of you behind your back. Don’t worry, I’m pure at heart despite what I say. So don’t blame me.

”Mm-hmm.” Zhang Mengjie held back her smile, but she couldn’t help feeling utterly delighted by the flattery she received.

Of course, Lin Zifeng wasn’t entirely lying. Indeed, Zhang Mengjie had the figure and the capabilities. Her martial arts weren’t bad either.

Most importantly, her ability to see the big picture was undeniable. She was one of the most beautiful women Lin Zifeng had ever seen in his life, and from either a demeanor or ability standpoint, she had a definite advantage, comparable even to Nangong Bing.

She did have her adorable moments sometimes.

Besides being a bit cold-hearted to others, Lin Zifeng had deep feelings for Zhang Mengjie.

”Well, my only big flaw is that I always tell the truth. If I’m not allowed to, it feels terrible, utterly unbearable. In short, it’s all kinds of uncomfortable.”

To express the lofty meaning of the words, this guy intensified his tone, even using gestures to convey how uncomfortable and unbearable it was.

”Okay, okay, no need to sound so pitiful,” Zhang Mengjie said with an eye-roll and a helpless smile,

”Hehe, I just love telling the truth.” Lin Zifeng laughed, and it really worked. Looks like he’ll have to keep telling the truth in the future. Uh, no! More lies.

”By the way, have we recently signed two artists at the company, one named He Mingyue and another named Chu Baobao?” Thinking of those two girls, a smile curled up on Lin Zifeng’s lips as well as their Guardian Angel, Xiao Jiba.

However, Xiao Jiba was dismissed by Zhang Mengjie that very day and who knows which company he’s with now.

”Let me check for you. We’ve signed a lot of artists lately.” As she spoke, Zhang Mengjie took action, quickly pulling out her tablet and searching a bit. Soon, pictures of two beautifully-featured and well-figured young girls appeared on the screen.

”Are these the two you are talking about?” Zhang Mengjie frowned, pointing at the two girls, feeling like he was hiding something.

Lin Zifeng recognized them at a glance.

Damn! It really is them! I thought they were joking.

”Yes, it’s them, no doubt about it.” Lin Zifeng pointed at the screen and turned to ask, ”Has that film director Xiao something been dismissed?”

”He was dismissed long ago, as per your instructions. Can I refuse when the boss themselves speaks up? Even though I’m just a small worker at Huayu. When the big boss opens their mouth, how can I not comply?”

Zhang Mengjie said with a charming smile, ”You haven’t told me what grudge you have with Xiao Jiba? It’s not like you. If it were simply about offending you, you wouldn’t have dismissed him.”

Zhang Mengjie knew Lin Zifeng’s personality well, poking at his little concerns with one sentence.

”Well this... Hehe, it’s a long story, and I think it’s better not to talk about it. Yeah, it’s better not to talk about it.”

Talking about Xiao Jiba filled his heart with profound discomfort.

”Why not talk about it? I’m interested in hearing it. Besides, such great gossip material is a shame to waste without some complaining.”

If it were someone else’s gossip, Zhang Mengjie might prefer to spend her time doing other things. But this was Lin Zifeng’s gossip, and she might glean some additional insights.

”Ahem...better not. I really don’t want to bring it up. Besides, you might not feel anything more after hearing it, so it’s better not to.” Lin Zifeng was firm in his resolve not to spill the beans.

Kidding, if he admitted this was all because of the incident in the garage, wouldn’t he become the butt of everyone’s jokes?
