I Am Your Natural Enemy

Chapter 244: Chapter 118: Consciousness Awakening, New World BOSS (5k)_2

Seventh Great-Uncle Master took two lanterns out of his bag and hung them on the wall.

”Go ahead, the cave your Eighth Uncle-Master Ancestor built is pretty reliable. It blocks any signals.”

Wen Yan took out the Jade Pendant that sealed He Changfeng inside.

”I want to ask you, Seventh Great-Uncle Master, if you can help him recover some consciousness. I have questions to ask him, but I don’t dare to do it myself—if I misjudge things, I might accidentally cause his soul to dissipate.”

Seventh Great-Uncle Master opened up a talisman, pointed a finger, and He Changfeng’s translucent form fell to the ground. This time, his head was obviously more solid than his torso and limbs.

Seventh Great-Uncle Master examined He Changfeng carefully, clicking his tongue in amazement.

”This guy’s soul is shattered to this degree, and yet he hasn’t dissipated. Now that’s just bizarre.”

”Isn’t it because of divinity, that he hasn’t dissipated?”

”No, it’s because his soul itself is in fragments, but it hasn’t dissipated any further. That’s a peculiarity in his soul itself. Did he just recently recover part of his soul?”

”Yeah, just patched up a bit, right here around his head—it should be his brain.”

Wen Yan briefly recounted what happened before. Seventh Great-Uncle Master clicked his tongue in surprise.

”Honestly, methods like that only exist in the more unorthodox branches. Amazingly, it actually worked.

By your account, the Goddess probably died there by coincidence back then.

This guy got pushed up as the Water God, yet he didn’t have any consciousness.

After the Goddess died, her corpse fell in that place, and he instinctively absorbed the resentment aura, claiming the body as his own.

Because of that, this fragment of his soul recovered quickly. But since he absorbed the resentment aura, it got tainted within the soul fragment as well.

But when the Goddess was a Water Ghost, she was hardly tainted by resentment, which is why you could awaken her with a single touch—her consciousness remained pure.

That earlier ascension—being able to pull through without incident—also wasn’t unrelated to all of this.

Heh, this is pretty interesting.

Blessings and misfortunes are intertwined. Because he absorbed the resentment aura, although part of his soul has recovered, his consciousness remains suppressed and can’t awaken.

If he wants to awaken, he has to purge the poison—the resentment is poison, and so is divinity for him.

The better his soul fragments recover, the harder it is for his consciousness to awaken.

I can get rid of the resentment for him, but as for the divine power, that’s out of my hands.”

Wen Yan equipped the Temporary Ability ”Body Incineration,” and extended a finger, a little fire seed rising from its tip.

”Seventh Great-Uncle Master, I’ve got this. I used it when I was dealing with a demon turtle Water God, but accidentally burnt him to death. That’s the big turtle I sent back to Fuyu Mountain.”

As soon as they felt the fire seed, both Seventh Great-Uncle Master and Eighth Uncle-Master Ancestor took a step back.

Eighth Uncle-Master Ancestor looked rather shocked.

”Your Scorching Sun has reached this level already?!”

”Yeah, I really can’t control its intensity well; I’m scared I’ll burn him to nothing.

His wife is pretty crazy—and loaded. If I burn him away, she’d probably become my sworn enemy.

Plus, to prevent her from losing control, there’s no way I can let him dissipate.”

Seventh Great-Uncle Master and Eighth Uncle-Master Ancestor stared at the fire seed on Wen Yan’s fingertip, exchanged glances, and were elated.

They’d heard from Qin Kun before that the Big Executor Wen Yan enlightened had no Spiritual Intelligence and only some instincts, able to follow Wen Yan’s commands, and that was about it.

They knew too that, having just gained Scorching Sun, even being able to enlighten was impressive, regardless of how effective it was.

Who would have thought, not even that long, and Wen Yan’s Divine Skills had evolved to this stage.

They originally thought that, even if he was as supremely gifted as the Thirteenth Ancestor, it would take at least seven or eight years to reach this level.

But now, just over a month, and he’s already leveled up—clearly more than once.

”Good, good! If you can conjure Divine Flame that can burn divinity, then this’ll be an easy fix. You just focus on burning—do as I say.”

Seventh Great-Uncle Master moved in front of Wen Yan.

”Look into my eyes.”

As soon as their eyes met, Seventh Great-Uncle Master reached out and gently tapped Wen Yan on the forehead.

The world went black for him—a familiar sensation. In his vision, everything was darkness, except for the powers of the Seventh Great-Uncle Master and Eighth Uncle-Master Ancestor, which glowed brightly here.

Standing before him, He Changfeng was shrouded in a faint golden light intermingled with black mist.

”You can start now.”

He reached out and set He Changfeng aflame.

In an instant, both the black mist and golden light ignited, spiraling and merging within the flames.

”Focus on your own thoughts. Expel and refine each thing bit by bit—no need to rush. This is your Divine Skill; you don’t need to learn how to control it, you’re born knowing how, just like using your hands. Keep your mind on it, take it slow—yes, that’s it.”

In Wen Yan’s eyes, he saw the fire wrapping around the golden light and black mist, drawing them bit by bit into the center. Once the gold and black dissipated, he saw another layer of white light beneath them.

”Take it slow.”

When the gold was completely gone and most of the black mist drawn out, Seventh Great-Uncle Master spoke.

”Alright, that’s enough. Any more and he won’t be able to take it.”

Wen Yan found his vision returning to normal—he was holding a ball of flame in his palm, with one black and one golden pellet suspended within.

He Changfeng’s body was even more transparent than before, but his head had grown more solid.

The solidified part in his head started to spread, the two soul fragments beginning to fuse together.

Once Wen Yan took out two evidence pouches and put the two pellets away, He Changfeng’s once-empty eyes gradually began to regain focus.
