I Am Your Natural Enemy

Chapter 215: Chapter 108: Adding Burdens, Delighted at the Prospect of the Hunt (5k)_3

But he breathed a sigh of relief; it was good that there was no need to hurry.

In the northern part of the villa area, Wen Yan brought Qin Kun back home.

At the gate of the courtyard, he glanced over at Pei Tugou’s yard and, sure enough, there was an older-looking private car parked there.

The Director is really stingy, actually providing a manual transmission car that’s older than Pei Tugou’s daughter.

He could see the lights on over there and faintly hear the sound of talking, as well as the pitch of Jia Jinfeng’s voice getting higher as she tutored her daughter.

Wen Yan entered the courtyard with Qin Kun.

The door inside opened by itself, and Little Zombie poked out half her head to look around. After seeing Qin Kun, she immediately retreated and slammed the door shut.

”HA...” Wen Yan laughed out loud.

He walked up and used his key to unlock the door.

”Please come inside, Senior Brother Qin.”

Qin Kun glanced to the side. He thought he felt something had watched him for a moment.

Entering Wen Yan’s house, Qin Kun looked at the arrangement: a Little Zombie, a Sparrow Cat, and some uncleaned takeout boxes.

Wen Yan wasn’t surprised and casually began to clear them away.

”Silly cat, did you order takeout and eat until you were full?”

”You know how easily sparrows get hungry, right? What’s wrong with me ordering takeout? It’s my money; I spend it how I like.”

”If you’ve eaten already, then you’ve missed out on good food.”

”No problem, cats are creatures of frequent small meals. I can still eat.”

The Sparrow Cat flew down from the sofa, politely greeting Qin Kun.

Meanwhile, Little Zombie kept hiding, seemingly still a bit afraid of Qin Kun.

Checking the time, Wen Yan was about to call and ask where the food delivery was when he heard the sound of a cart being pushed outside.

He saw a deliveryman wearing a reflective yellow vest pushing an insulated food cart all the way into the courtyard.

Wen Yan looked at the visitor and couldn’t help but smile wryly.

”Buddy, how come it’s you again?”

”I take any job. The northern part of this villa complex is basically my turf. Many people know it now, and the stores call me directly to deliver.”

The delivery Horseman grinned happily.

Bringing stuff from the entrance of the complex right up to the house, waiting three hours, and then coming back to collect the dishes—it was that easy, a hundred in hand. In the meantime, during those three spare hours, which were just right for tea and barbecue, he could go and deliver takeout for another three hours. With a bit of luck, he might get several orders at one spot and easily earn another eighty. Of course, he was delighted.

The Horseman pushed the cart right up to the house’s doorstep. He would have liked to provide full service, but Mr. Wen was easygoing and just let him leave right away.

Inside, Wen Yan opened the insulated food cart and took out dish after dish, even opening a bottle of wine Wu Tingsheng had sent the other day.

Before the meal, he waved his hand, applying a Blessing of Yang Energy to all the dishes.

After getting Little Zombie down and seated in her child’s chair, and ensuring both she and the Sparrow Cat were taken care of—offering Little Zombie tomato juice and the Sparrow Cat watermelon juice—Wen Yan finally raised his glass.

”Come, let’s all honor Senior Brother Qin for visiting our home. Cheers!”

Qin Kun laughed upon seeing Wen Yan taking care of the two little ones and including them in the toast.

”We’re all martial brothers; no need to stand on ceremony.”

Qin Kun also raised his glass and clinked it with Little Zombie’s and the Sparrow Cat’s.

One a Zombie and the other a Demon, they actually had a great time eating. Little Zombie was whimpering about her past experiences of being scared by Qin Kun, while the Sparrow Cat exaggeratedly translated.

A table set for ten people was no challenge for two martial artists.

After eating and drinking their fill, the two martial brothers practiced boxing in the backyard for a while, with Wen Yan seizing the opportunity to get some pointers from Qin Kun.

Ever since it was conclusively confirmed that he really had no Soul, he had abandoned all thoughts of pursuing Cultivation and had dedicated himself entirely to Martial Training.

The two sparred briefly in the backyard again, and Qin Kun ended up staying the night.

「When night fell」

Qin Kun stood by the window, glanced behind the house, and shook his head with a wry smile.

This place is truly very peculiar, he thought. Wen Yan said the neighbor living behind is Ghost. Next door is Zhang Laoxi, and Zhang Laoxi isn’t around today. Beyond one more house, in that neighbor’s place, I also felt like someone was watching me earlier. The direct instinctual reaction I had suggested that the watcher was no ordinary person.

But since Wen Yan had mentioned that he had arranged for that household to work at the Virtue City Funeral Home, Qin Kun did not inquire further.

「In the middle of the night」

Qin Kun suddenly opened his eyes. He carefully sensed his surroundings, thought for a moment, but didn’t rush to do anything.

In the northern part of the villa area, a figure dressed in black and wearing a hood leaped over the fence and sneaked into the villa complex.

After landing, the figure seemed to merge into the shadows and vanish.

Looking over one villa after another, the intruder carefully counted them, climbed another fence, and entered the backyard of Zhang Laoxi’s house.

Scanning the surroundings, he took out some tools and crouched down to pick the lock.

On the neighboring terrace, Qin Kun watched this scene, somewhat speechless.

In Old Zhao’s room, Old Zhao and his five companions crowded around the window to watch what was happening outside.

”What’s that person doing?”

”Are you an idiot? He’s picking the lock.”

”He’s definitely trying to steal something.”

”I think I saw Zhang Laoxi leave a treasure on his door the other day.”

”HISS... should we do something? It would be bad if something got stolen.”

Meanwhile, on the terrace of Pei Tugou’s home, Pei Tugou had also appeared silently. He leaned against the wall, tilting his head, looking somewhat astonished at this petty thief.

He couldn’t be bothered with the thief.

Sure enough, the moment the thief picked the lock, a puff of smoke sprayed out from the keyhole.

The startled thief clutched his throat and quickly scaled the wall to escape.

Pei Tugou looked up and saw Qin Kun looking out from the terrace above, in his direction.

Pei Tugou grinned, revealing two rows of white teeth.

”Bored? Fancy a spar?”

Qin Kun smiled and readily agreed.

With a flip, Qin Kun landed on the ground.

Pei Tugou walked horizontally down the wall.

The two, in tacit understanding, headed out of the villa.

”You’re my son’s father’s senior martial brother, so I won’t use my rope. Let’s just practice some hand-to-hand combat.”

The hairs on Qin Kun’s arms stood on end. The killing intent from the other man is so strong that it triggers an instinctual reaction in me even without being directly aimed. Such an aura... I’ve never encountered anything like it in my life.

Finding such a skilled master whose name I’ve never heard is thrilling! And even though I didn’t quite understand the first part of what he said, it doesn’t matter anymore.

Just today, I met the unfathomable Minister Cai, and now tonight, another master. Nanwu County truly has hidden dragons and crouching tigers; there are so many experts stronger than me.
