I Am Your Natural Enemy

Chapter 142: Chapter 85: The Big Executor’s Nemesis, Soul Devouring Beast’s Job Change (5k)

The fake Mo Zhicheng couldn’t see Wen Yan, he could only see the tall Black Armor Corpse standing in front of him.

With his power, with everything he had, all being devoured by Uncle.

The black armor covering Uncle’s body also began to gradually dissipate, revealing Uncle’s original face.

His expression was calm, without any of the Zombie’s baleful aura, nor any killing intent, calm as though he had done nothing at all, even his eyes were empty.

The fake Mo Zhicheng could feel all the vitality from his body, as well as his soul, beginning to gradually weaken.

Staring at Uncle’s face, he himself hadn’t expected this.

The key to his transformation, the turning point where he shot to the sky, was Uncle.

In the end, he still died at Uncle’s hands.

Just like his power, it rose because of this, and perished because of this.

Without his abilities, everything he had prepared in advance was nothing but a castle in the air.

He opened his mouth, wanting to say something, yet in the end couldn’t say anything at all.

His body rapidly withered, turning into a dried corpse, then turning into ashen-white ashes that fell to the ground.

The black armor on Uncle’s body all fell and disappeared. He didn’t look again at the fake Mo Zhicheng who’d turned to ashes.

He turned around and looked at Wen Yan, who stood at a distance, taking step after step toward Wen Yan.

Wen Yan strode quickly over.

Qin Kun stretched out a hand behind and called out,

”Junior Brother Wen, still be careful.”

Wen Yan didn’t even turn his head, just waved his hand, and strode in front of Uncle.

”Uncle.”

Uncle’s gaze was hollow, the golden glow that forever shone in his pupils now gradually fading.

Wen Yan’s eyes were complicated, because the prompt had already been given.

”Flying Zombie (Big Executor).

He has fulfilled the great execution in his heart, avenged his poor and dutiful son, and his existence has also reached its end at this very moment.

Temporary ability: None.”

”Uncle, I... I wish you a peaceful journey. In the future, during Tomb-Sweeping Festival and Double Ninth, I’ll always visit your grave. I’ll visit your son’s, too. You don’t need to worry anymore— nothing will ever be missing for you at the funeral home.”

The golden light in Uncle’s pupils began to slowly fade and flicker, as if even his look changed a little, not so empty anymore.

He reached out a hand toward Wen Yan. Wen Yan immediately lowered his head, bringing it under Uncle’s palm so Uncle could touch it.

”I understand, Uncle, I understand everything. Don’t worry— I’ll take care of myself. Next time something like this happens, I won’t get involved, I’ll protect myself first.”

Gold flashed in Uncle’s eyes. He opened his mouth, wanting to say something, but no words came out.

Beneath his eyes, two streams of bloody tears slowly trickled down.

He struggled to extend a finger, pressing the tip to the center of Wen Yan’s brow, just as, back then, Wen Yan had extended a finger to press against his brow.

In an instant, intense Yang energy blazed from Wen Yan’s body, as if a blazing sun surged up from his mind.

The corners of Uncle’s mouth twitched upward, curling faintly, as if in a smile.

The next moment, his body swiftly faded into pale ash, in the blink of an eye, turning into ashen-white dust that drifted down to earth.

Wen Yan stared dumbly at the ashes before him, a sudden ache welling up in his heart.

Although they hadn’t really been together long, and even though he’d expected this, seeing it with his own eyes still hurt a little.

From the very beginning, leading Uncle along, Uncle stiffly following the agreement— if Wen Yan didn’t call, he wouldn’t move.

Then later, when Wen Yan was in danger, Uncle would always instantly stand before him, shielding him from harm.

Every meal, he’d always serve a bowl for Uncle— everyone eating together.

It hadn’t been many days, but he’d already grown used to it.

Now it’s suddenly gone, just like that.

Wen Yan took a deep breath, closed his eyes, and stood where he was.

In his mind, it was as if a sun that would never set was rising, and new prompts surfaced as well.

”All that you did, your unwavering resolve, was felt by Uncle.

He didn’t have such strong spiritual intelligence, but he was even more pure.

You were willing, without hesitation, to give up the Scorching Sun that meant the most to you, just to help Uncle fulfill his great execution.

He accomplished his execution, but you have now become his additional obsession, born in the moment he became the Big Executor.

He worried about you deeply, afraid you’d take such risks again, afraid that next time, you’d still be willing to help.

So, willingly, he has wished you would, for all eternity, be his nemesis.”

”Title obtained: Big Executor’s Nemesis.”

”Gained extra fixed ability: Scorching Sun, 1%.”

”Extra fixed ability, Scorching Sun: gain additional 50% progress, current progress 51%.”

”Extra fixed ability, Scorching Sun: progress over 50%, new effect unlocked, details available.”

”Current effects.

Blessing: Your Yang energy can bless almost anything; you can also channel more Yang energy than before. Some special items, when blessed, will show unique effects.

Enlighten: Your Yang energy can enlighten Ghosts, Zombies, and other such races; the effect depends on your current progress.

Eternal Sunrise: The sun in your heart will never set; you can be immune to certain negative effects.

Sunless Travel: You can use your physical body to traverse places usually inaccessible to flesh, and are immune to the inherent environmental damage there.”

Wen Yan finished reading the prompt, and his feelings were even more tangled.

He bent down, gathering up the ashes Uncle had left behind with his hands.

He would gather up all of Uncle’s ashes later on.

Only now did he truly understand what Uncle had wanted to say at the very end, though he hadn’t been able to say it.

Now, he could truly feel Uncle’s final intention.
