The Darling of Heaven Owns a Rip-off Shop

The lady in the cheongsam followed behind her: ”Hey, wait a moment, I haven’t finished speaking yet. It’s so rare to find a human who can see me and talk to me. Talking to those naive spirits is so annoying.”

”Naive spirits?” Cui Wenyan frowned slightly upon hearing this, then saw many little sprites transformed from bottles and jars running back and forth ahead. Many hadn’t transformed out of their clothes, running around the street with little naked behinds. These were antiques from the shop that had gained spirits, coming out at night to get some air and play. They could be distinguished by the fact that either their heads were still shaped like spouts or the handles on their backs hadn’t disappeared.

”...” Cui Wenyan now understood why the cheongsam lady called them naive spirits. They indeed looked foolish.

But, wasn’t her Spiritual Eye supposed to only see ghosts?

Was my understanding incorrect? It seems I can see all sorts of mystical things.

”Young lady, don’t you think these little fools are quite an eyesore?” The lady in the cheongsam walked gracefully to Cui Wenyan’s side, blew a smoke ring, and spoke disdainfully.

”A bit, yes.” Cui Wenyan nodded honestly, and as soon as she said it, she felt her foot being tugged. Looking down, she saw it was a gold bar, with two tiny hands and two tiny feet, stretching out to hold onto her shoelaces. The gold bar was slightly mottled, indicating it was quite old.

In the next moment, two tiny bean-like eyes appeared on the gold bar and blinked twice before it shouted, ”Run quickly, everyone, run! There’s a person who can see us, I’ve grabbed hold of her leg, she can’t move, run fast!”

Cui Wenyan: ”...”

”See, I told you they’re all naive spirits.” The cheongsam lady shrugged, speaking helplessly.

Cui Wenyan bent down and gently picked up the gold bar holding her shoelace, speaking with some annoyance: ”They are from the same period as the Republic of China era - why is that sister so smart and you’re so dumb? Holding onto my shoelace is like grabbing my leg?”

”Ahhhh!!!” The gold bar flailed around, exclaiming, ”This human called me dumb!”

Cui Wenyan’s mouth twitched as she handed the gold bar to the cheongsam lady: ”If you keep making noise, I’ll melt you.”

”Naive spirit.” The cheongsam lady took the gold bar and flicked it, saying to Cui Wenyan, ”Don’t mind them, these little sprites have simple minds, it’s just their first time realizing a human can see them, they’re not used to it.”

The gold bar blinked its bean-like eyes in the hands of the cheongsam lady and said to Cui Wenyan, ”Oh, so you’re a good person, why didn’t you say so earlier.”

Cui Wenyan: ”...” She doesn’t want to talk to the little fool, as it is mentally exhausting.

At this moment, a butterfly fluttered over. No, that’s not right, it’s not a real butterfly. Cui Wenyan looked carefully and was surprised to find it was a butterfly hairpin, incredibly lifelike. It belonged to the daughter of a landlord, seemingly from the Song Dynasty era...

Wait?

Cui Wenyan was stunned, why did a scene appear in her mind the instant she saw the butterfly pin? A spacious courtyard, a lady dressed in Song Dynasty attire, and a butterfly pin on her dressing table.

How strange...

Better go and ask Master about it.

Back home, Cui Wenyan asked Tianmiao about this question, feeling confused.

Tianmiao looked at Cui Wenyan’s eyes, somewhat surprised: ”So soon?”

”Huh? What? Master?” Cui Wenyan was even more puzzled.

”Your eyes are quite special, they can see a lot of things. You should explore them on your own.” Tianmiao patted Cui Wenyan’s head, ”Study well, I have a task to give you in a few days.”

”Alright!” Cui Wenyan clenched her fists, her face full of determination.
