398: Liu Yan, GTI Top WantedAfter giving everyone enough time to think, the Supreme Commander spoke again:

”Of course, everything only became completely clear after we sorted through it afterwards.”

”On the night of November 20, 2035, Liu Yan and Roy Smith returned to the headquarters cafeteria together for a late-night snack.”

”At the time, we did not know that Liu Yan was involved with Hafke.”

”Due to Liu Yan’s malicious slaughter of civilians and his suspected identity as an agent of a mysterious organization, we adopted a containment approach to question him.”

”During this period, Roy Smith repeatedly shielded Liu Yan.”

”In their desperation, the two confessed that it was Klei who provided them with the mission.”

”They wanted to sacrifice Klei’s exposure to ensure Liu Yan could continue to stay in GTI.”

”When that failed, Jacob, who had been waiting nearby as backup, came to the GTI headquarters cafeteria alone.”

”He used threats to force us to let Liu Yan go.”

”Ultimately, out of long-term considerations, we had no choice but to let Liu Yan go.”

”I ask you all, if it wasn’t staged, and Liu Yan really did single-handedly wipe out that small military force of Hafke’s...”

”...why would Jacob react this way? How could he come in person to save Liu Yan?”

”Therefore, after sorting through everything, we reached the conclusion I mentioned earlier.”

”And I am announcing now.”

”The GTI organization is issuing a Special-Class Wanted notice for Liu Yan!”

Upon hearing about the highest-level wanted notice, there was an uproar below, followed by everyone looking at each other in disbelief.

Everyone saw incredulity in the eyes of those around them.

You have to know, the wanted notice previously issued for Geheros was only Level 1, which is below Special-Class.

Special-Class means that regardless of time or place, there is no need to consider any consequences.

Any Operator who sees Liu Yan can drop any mission they are currently handling and kill him on sight.

Even if they just receive information about Liu Yan, they must immediately drop their current tasks and prioritize tracking his whereabouts.

Furthermore, while hunting for Liu Yan, they can unconditionally request any support from headquarters.

Whether it is equipment, manpower, vehicles, or even guided weaponry.

Compared to the shock of the others, Mai Xiaowen, Golden Luna, David Ferrer, and the others were completely dumbfounded.

Everything announced in the meeting just now had left them stunned.

Their minds were completely in a mess.

Before they had time to think, the Supreme Commander’s voice continued:

”As for Roy Smith, given his good performance while at GTI and his lack of knowledge regarding this series of events, GTI will not hunt him down to the end.”

”But considering he left with Jacob alongside Liu Yan, we will still list him as a sensitive individual.”

”Regarding him joining Hafke, GTI can choose to ignore it; if Operators encounter Roy Smith while on missions, out of humanitarian considerations, they may choose not to engage in conflict with him.”

”But if he is found to be in contact with Liu Yan, he will also be treated as a Level 2 wanted individual.”

After finishing, the Supreme Commander put down the manuscript in his hand, then crossed his hands and looked down at the audience.

”That concludes the briefing.”

”If anyone has any questions or anything they didn’t understand, you may raise them in the next 30 minutes.”

As the Supreme Commander finished speaking, the whole room was silent at first, and then the sound of whispering began to rise.

”Damn, this is huge news. I don’t even know how the news will report this in a few days.”

”Hafke’s methods this time are quite clever.”

”If Liu Yan’s identity as a GTI member is confirmed, the impact on GTI’s reputation will undoubtedly be unprecedented.”

”Even if his identity as a GTI member isn’t confirmed, Hafke is still ostensibly trying to stop Liu Yan from attacking Amiya Town, and has suffered heavy losses.”

”Hafke doesn’t lose either way.”

”Is that really what you’re focusing on? Didn’t you hear the wanted level?”

”That’s a Special-Class! As long as you complete it, the bounty starts at 200 million!”

”Plus all sorts of commendations and military rank promotions upon returning to your original unit.”

”You could say that as long as you complete it, you’ll gain both fame and fortune, and be set for life.”

As soon as these words were said, the few Operators just now quickly realized it too.

One of the Operators immediately stood up.

”Report!”

The Supreme Commander glanced at him.

”Speak.”

”I’d like to ask, what is Liu Yan’s rank?”

As soon as this question was asked, the conversations in the entire conference room stopped.

Many people cast appreciative glances at him.

That is a good question.

If Liu Yan’s strength is the same as Geheros’, then even with a Special-Class reward, not many people would be able to complete it.

What’s the use of a generous reward?

You have to be alive to collect it.

The Supreme Commander’s expression was a bit strange when he heard this question.

But he still leaned toward the microphone and said in a deep voice:

”Bronze-rank Operator...”

”Hiss—”

”Huh??”

”Wait, did I hear that right? What rank? Bronze rank??”

”No way, a Bronze-rank Operator, and a Special-Class wanted notice?”

”Isn’t this bounty just basically giving away money?!”

”No, don’t celebrate too early. Don’t forget, a task that is too simple means everyone can complete it.”

”In that case, this task isn’t so simple. The difficulty lies in the fact that there are too many competitors, and you have to fight for it.”

The Supreme Commander had anticipated the reaction of the crowd below.

After all, this was indeed too absurd.

”Hold on.”

The Supreme Commander spoke in a deep voice, and the audience fell silent again.

”Let’s not jump to conclusions yet.”

As soon as he said this, expressions of understanding appeared on the faces of those below.

As expected, someone who can be put on a Special-Class wanted notice definitely won’t be that simple.

If he were really just an ordinary Bronze-rank Operator, even working themselves to death wouldn’t necessarily lead to a Special-Class wanted notice.

After all, bounties are usually tied to strength.

”Liu Yan’s baseline assessment scores, in terms of shooting, have no weaknesses.”

”So it’s better to be careful.”

After the Supreme Commander finished speaking, the conference room remained quiet.

They were still waiting for the Supreme Commander to continue.

But seeing the Supreme Commander’s expression, it was clear there was no follow-up.

That’s it?

In other words, for a Special-Class wanted reward...

...all you have to face is a lopsided war god who is maxed out in shooting?

This is a good thing!!

This kind of lopsided war god means there must be weaknesses in other areas.

If his combat awareness is poor, even if he hits every shot, he may not necessarily pose a threat to them.

Advantageous shooting conditions need to be created in various ways.

It’s not about two people standing there like idiots, shooting at each other to see who is more accurate.

Furthermore, the task has a certain threshold, which will weed out some of the people competing for the task!

For a moment, many Operators were already showing smug joy, wishing the meeting would end right now so they could rush out and search the world for Liu Yan.

Meanwhile, Old Hei, who was sitting in the last row, had been completely confused the whole time.

Just like Mai Xiaowen and the others in front.

”Hey, hey, stop sleeping, you two...”

”How come I feel like I’m not understanding this?”

Old Hei nudged the two with his elbows, waking up the soundly sleeping Wang Yuhao and Kai Silva.

”Ah—” Wang Yuhao yawned and stretched, then rubbed his eyes and asked:

”Is the meeting over?”

”Then let’s go.”

Kai Silva, who was beside him, stretched his sore neck and was preparing to stand up.

”Wait, it’s not over yet.”

Old Hei held back the two who had just woken up and were still in a daze.

Then, he repeated everything that had just been announced in the meeting to the two of them, almost verbatim.

As he finished speaking, Wang Yuhao and Kai Silva seemed to fall into a time freeze.

The two, who were already a bit dazed from just waking up...

...became even more confused.

”You mean...”

”No, wait, let me process this first...”

”You’re saying, Liu Yan is actually Hafke’s man.”

”Things were exposed last night, and he was caught in the cafeteria.”

”Roy spoke up for him and was expelled from GTI.”

”Then both of them were taken away by the suddenly appearing Jacob.”

”And now, Liu Yan is on a GTI Special-Class wanted notice?”

After Wang Yuhao finished speaking, Old Hei nodded, while also admiring Wang Yuhao’s logical thinking ability.

After a long while, Wang Yuhao scoffed.

”So it was just a dream.”
