Chapter 1421: Chapter 9: Impact_3

They came to the city and obtained new household registrations, but their relatives might not be so lucky. For example, Labe’s brother lives in a village in the east.

Labe said: ”In a while, I’ll send them over, and let them experience my life back then.”

Conrad said: ”I hope this pandemic ends soon, or we wouldn’t be so worried.”

The two chatted briefly and quickly ended the conversation, as they had to hurry to work.

Labe went to his family’s parking lot, opened the car door, and squeezed inside.

The so-called parking lot is a cemented area in the yard of Labe’s house. Due to East Africa’s developed automotive industry, many ordinary families can afford cars, and Labe is certainly no exception. 𝘧𝓇ℯℴ𝓂

Before the war, East Africa’s automotive industry was already very advanced, and during the world war, the European armies’ large-scale procurement of vehicles produced in East Africa, along with the explosion of overseas non-European market orders, strengthened East Africa’s automotive industry further.

By 1920, the car prevalence rate in East Africa even reached sixty percent, which meant most East African families owned a car.

Now, East African car prices are cheaper than before, mainly influenced by the end of the European war, leaving East African car companies with surplus inventory.

Labe drove the car out of the door. Due to the impact of the pandemic, there were far fewer pedestrians and vehicles on the street than usual. At this time, most of the people on the road were hurrying to work, just like Labe.

East African cities have always been generous with traffic construction, unlike European cities, with narrow roads and complex road conditions. So, Labe quickly arrived at the factory smoothly.

”Good morning, Mr. Labe.” The factory’s security guard greeted Labe.

”Good morning, Cruise.” Labe replied: ”Same old routine?”

The guard named Cruise said: ”Of course, at this stage, everyone has to take responsibility for themselves! Especially in densely populated areas like ours.”

Saying this, Cruise took a spray bottle and sprayed Labe. It was mainly filled with alcohol.

Then, Labe skillfully took out a thermometer and measured his temperature in front of Cruise.

”Thirty-six point eight degrees, normal. Congratulations, Mr. Labe, for another healthy day.” Cruise recorded in the registry with a pen.

Clearly, East Africa’s detection methods for the European flu are far less advanced than those of the past era. Even thermometers need to be self-provided by the public. There’s no alternative because they didn’t have infrared thermometers at that time, and mercury thermometers require contact with the body.

It’s hard to share them, so people like Labe can only prepare their own thermometers to measure their temperatures. However, for an industrial nation like East Africa, thermometers aren’t expensive, and everyone can afford them. During the European flu spread, East Africa even achieved household availability of thermometers for immediate temperature monitoring.

”Next...” After Labe entered the factory gate, Cruise addressed the person behind him.

To combat the European flu, this almost became the norm for various factories in Cabinda. Factories and companies with even a slight scale would implement precautionary measures.

This would only last for a while, and only when the infection rates were low. If most people were to end up being infected by the European flu, then such complex procedures would no longer be necessary.

So, during the early outbreak of the European flu, it exerted the greatest influence on East Africa’s normal production and lifestyle. Later on, when everyone had caught the European flu, there was no need for these precautionary measures, and by that time, the power of the European flu had diminished significantly.
