Chapter 1563: Chapter 307 Green Vine

The white beast bones crackled faintly within the scarlet flames.

Thin, slender lines were carved out by magic power. These were the temporal and spatial filaments revealed after being scorched by the magical flames, casting their projections in the three-dimensional world.

Each line represented a possibility.

The role of the diviner was to observe and discern the greatest of these possibilities.

Xiao Xiao wiped the snowflakes off his glasses, bowed his head again, and continued carefully examining the patterns on the beast bones, attempting to rely on the invisible force of destiny to find a way home for everyone.

It was difficult.

Even though he was the most skilled diviner among his companions, he was ultimately just a first-year student at the First University—a diviner with limited skills and without a certification yet.

The only thing he could confirm now was that destiny had not overly punished these young and reckless wizards in this unfamiliar world. The smooth and straight patterns on the beast bones were proof of that.

This suggested their way home wouldn’t encounter additional twists and turns.

The diviner’s gaze followed the lines as they extended further, his spirit rising through the flickering flames, glimpsing beyond the filaments of reality as though he were a groundhog, poking out of its burrow, standing upright, and surveying its surroundings.

He saw multicolored blocks spread across the void—serene and profound blues, scorching and explosive reds, majestic and radiant golds, shimmering greens, and more.

These massive blocks of color covered the entire sky, forming a thick, impenetrable barrier. The edges between blocks jutted and interlocked, yet remained strikingly distinct. What they shared was an overwhelming aura that made the young diviner’s sight ache sharply.

”This must be the traces left by those indigenous Divine Spirits at Kela Mountain,” Xiao Xiao mused, recalling Zheng Qing’s mention of the mountain’s history and speculating.

He couldn’t determine whether these vibrant patches were remnants of a divine war or marks from divine spells used to expel mortals.

Resisting the stinging pain in his eyes, he widened them, searching among the colorful blocks. After an indeterminate amount of time, he finally discerned a faint outline sketched by the winding lines—a chicken, a harp, and an enormously large head that occupied half the sky.

The moment he realized the head likely belonged to a Giant, it slowly turned and opened its pitch-black eyes, gazing directly at him.

The young diviner let out a sharp cry and fell from that kaleidoscopic world.

”He’s awake! He’s awake!”

A familiar shout reached Xiao Xiao’s ears, and then he felt a hard object pressed against his lips—the rim of a ceramic bowl—as fiery liquid was forcefully poured down his throat.

The warlock coughed violently, struggling to open his eyes.

The moon still hung above, though it had shifted closer to the horizon. The night remained dark, and the winds atop the mountain swept along snowflakes from the ridges, howling as they spiraled around the young wizards, bringing a biting chill.

The magical flames in front of the diviner had yet to burn out, but the beast bone once rolling within the flames had turned completely black, its patterns now indiscernible.

Xin Fat Man was propping him up, holding a bowl of magical potion.

”Drink up,” the plump, blue-skinned wizard’s complexion seemed to shimmer faintly in the moonlight, evoking the urge to poke it with something. ”This Master’s freshly crafted Hot Potion—it’s guaranteed to wake you up!”

Xiao Xiao tugged at the corners of his mouth, forcing out a laborious laugh that sounded like a cat’s gentle purr.

”Hot Potion,” he muttered as he rubbed the corner of his eye. ”Never heard of such a low-tier potion. Don’t tell me it’s your first time concocting something like this... Where are my glasses?”

Grinning mischievously, the hefty wizard poured the remaining potion straight into Xiao Xiao’s mouth. ”There’s a first time for everything... Relax, no major issues will arise.”

Nearby, another pair of hands fumbled around to place glasses onto the diminutive warlock’s nose.

”Here are your glasses,” Zhang Ji Xin adjusted them on Xiao Xiao’s face, habitually pressing down on the frame so forcefully that he nearly flattened Xiao Xiao’s nose. ”While your spirit was out of your body, your physical form trembled wildly, and the glasses fell to the ground. They got mud on them, but I’ve cleaned them for you.”

Xiao Xiao tearfully murmured his thanks.

Only then did Zheng Qing find the opportunity to interject inquiry about Xiao Xiao’s divination results. ”Did you see anything? What’s our next step?”

Xiao Xiao hastily swallowed the lingering potion from the bowl, exhaling a dubious pinkish mist.

”Is the bean still there?” He watched as the red mist dispersed in the night wind, then shifted his gaze to Zheng Qing. ”I believe I know how we can return home.”

”Bean?” Zheng Qing asked, puzzled. ”I’ve focused on it for quite some time, but haven’t noticed any reaction.”

Since climbing the mountain, the green bean had never left Zheng Qing’s palm. But whether it was due to being at the pinnacle of Kela Mountain, no whispers had echoed in his ear, even when he strained to hear.

Without the echoes of the mountain’s history, he couldn’t use it to ’communicate’ with the mountain to locate their way home.

Zheng Qing had almost given up on this option.

”Have you tried planting the bean?” Xiao Xiao adjusted his glasses, touched his seemingly flattened nose, and asked in a muffled voice.

Plant it!

Zheng Qing snapped to realization.

He immediately opened his law book, directing several thick vines to dig a pit in the hard, snow-covered mountain peak. He tossed the plump, smooth green bean into the hole, then covered it with soil, fertilized, and watered it.

During this process, Xiao Xiao narrated his experiences during the divination ritual to the companions, describing the multicolored blocks, the lines shaping the enormous head, the harp, and the chicken.

Especially the later clues, which clearly pointed to one conclusion.

”Jack and the Magic Bean!” Zhang Ji Xin exclaimed in sudden realization, even his muscle-bound mind had heard of the fairy tale adored by wizard world children: ”The towering beanstalk!”

However, burying the bean in the soil didn’t yield the anticipated results of it sprouting and growing rapidly.

The young hunters of the Absolution Hunting Team waited anxiously and debated in bursts of chatter whether they needed to sleep, like Jack, for the mystical vine to emerge, or if they should use a ’forced growth’ spell, or even hypothesize whether planting the magic bean required assistance from a magic circle.

At that moment, Zheng Qing felt a tug on his tail.

He lowered his head, noticing Zhu Si had left Jiang Yu’s side to approach him, peering curiously at the mound of soil containing the bean.

”This is land blessed by the Divine Spirits,” the Little Witch spoke in a quiet voice, and Zheng Qing immediately recognized it was the alternate Zhu Si speaking as she leaned in close to his ear, whispering, ”Only with the blood of the Divine Spirits can it break through the soil’s constraints.”

Zheng Qing didn’t have Divine Spirits’ blood.

But he considered that blood imbued with the Forbidden Spell Aura adept at breaking rules might naturally overcome this soil’s constraints.

So he retrieved a silver-handled knife from his pocket—a tool typically used in Magic Potion Class to slice herbs—and cut open his palm.

Crimson blood swiftly spread across his skin, pooling in his hand like a small, vibrant ruby.

The warlock clenched his fist, crushed the pulsing ruby, and sprinkled it over the mound.

The crimson liquid seeped quickly into the soil.

A moment later.

A tender, green vine broke through the surface, coiling and twisting upward, tightly entwined, shooting straight into the heavens. The swirling clouds lingering stubbornly around Kela Mountain’s summit dissipated like snow scorched by a blazing sun, retreating with agonized cries into the distance.

Cool moonlight bathed the entire world.

The green vine stretched upward, ascending straight into the sky, eventually vanishing into the darkness blended with starlight in the night.
