High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 286: Chapter 210 Irus_1

Under normal circumstances.

After lunch, Zheng Qing would stroll back to his dormitory, hug his pillow and nap for an hour or so, gathering energy for the afternoon classes. Whereas Xiao Xiao would clutch his giant notebook and dive into the Book Mountain Library until the bell for the afternoon classes chimed for the second time, and then he would slowly emerge from the library.

But today is a bit different.

A few boys from Astronomy Class 08-1 left the cafeteria without returning to the dormitory or heading to the library.

They turned into a hidden hallway and soon heard the gurgling sound of Lin Zhong Lake.

This lakefront corridor was a transport hub on campus. Even at the hottest noon, there were always many people coming and going.

Since it was still early and they had just had lunch, the boys took their time walking.

Baffled by Xiao Xiao’s threat at the lunch table, Zheng Qing felt more and more suspicious.

”My most recent headache must have been on the exclusive plane coming to First University – I’m sure all of you saw it.” He counted on his fingers and calculated, ”Normally I’ll have nightmares for about a week after each headache.”

”Now it’s almost a month since the start of school.” Xin Fat Man squinted, his plump face almost crumpled into a ball of meat, ”This is very abnormal!”

”Very abnormal.” Zheng Qing nodded vigorously, emphasizing it once again.

”Do you remember when your last nightmare was?” Xiao Xiao, clutching his notebook, tilted his head with great interest, ”Maybe we’ll find some clues through the dreams... For a wizard, nothing is groundless.”

”Yesterday or the day before?” Zheng Qing pinched his chin, pondering for a long time, then eventually gave up, ”I don’t remember the exact time... but I remember this dream very clearly! I’ve never remembered a dream this distinctly before.”

Mentioning this dream, his spirits rose instantly, ”A massive foot... very big, taller than me when I stand up!”

The young scholarship student stood on his toes, making exaggerated gestures, desperately trying to depict the enormity of the terrifying monster in his dream:

”A giant being with such a foot chased me from the wheat fields to the mountain summit... It roared with a thunderous sound... I ran desperately, but that big foot was always just a little away from squashing me.”

”But obviously it didn’t squash you.” Zhang Ji Xin, bored, turned his head around looking for pretty girls on the street.

Then he saw a figure with flowing long hair, his eyes instantly lit up, and he tugged at Doctor Xiao who was next to him.

”If you were squashed, you would have woken up.” Xiao Xiao answered perfunctorily. His gaze followed Zhang Ji Xin’s finger, and his expression changed instantly.

Zheng Qing didn’t notice his friends’ shifting attention.

He was still enthusiastically describing his feelings of helplessness and fear in his dream.

”I woke up plummeting off a cliff,” He concluded, still feeling terrified, ”When I woke up, I was drenched in sweat... it was a very typical nightmare.”

”How do you know you weren’t stepped on by that big foot?” Xin Fat Man’s hefty hand heavily slapped the young scholarship student’s back, making him grit his teeth in pain.

”Any sensible person would know!” Zheng Qing roared, bearing the pain, ”Such a terrifying creature, if it stepped on your head, would you forget?”

”Greetings, teacher!” The uniform shouts echoed in his ears, drowning out his roar and startling Zheng Qing.

He turned his head and saw Mr. Sima Yangyun walking past with his lecture notes.

This greeting obviously startled Beautiful Lady Sima as well.

Her face blushed, looking slightly annoyed.

But after seeing Xiao Xiao’s blank, staring gaze, she couldn’t help but feel flustered.

”You guys too,” she responded with a slight smile, nodding. But her step unconsciously quickened, and in the blink of an eye, she disappeared into a corridor nearby.

Xiao Xiao sighed, moving dispiritedly towards the main lecture building.

Zheng Qing made a face, giving up the intention to discuss his nightmare.

Obviously, in this atmosphere, Doctor Xiao was in no mood to clear his confusion.

...

...

Since Professor Emma established her rules in the first Astronomy class, the subsequent courses had been going quite smoothly in the weeks that followed.

Or should I say, the regularity led to habits.

Every Tuesday afternoon, Ms. Emma would hand out a homework checklist at the end of class, which listed the daily exercises for the coming week; From Monday to Friday, Monitor Tang Dun would knock on every boy’s dormitory to collect the homework, and hand it in to Ms. Emma’s office before the next morning’s class.

According to Monitor Tang Dun, it seemed like that office door never closed – no matter when he went there, Professor Emma was always in there, grading homework.

This made the young wizards of Astronomy Class 08-1 feel more apprehensive and dared not slack off on their homework.

And they dared not be late to her class.

Like Zheng Qing.

He even gave up his habit of taking a nap in his dormitory after lunch on this day, and instead fought off sleepiness for Main Lecture Building 202.

He preferred to nap on the hard desk in the classroom rather than face Professor Emma’s angry gaze.

Main Lecture Building 202 is the classroom for Astronomy class.

Similar to the Divination class, which is also a compulsory subject for the whole school and equally difficult, the Astronomy class also adopted a small class approach.

So, when the boys walked into the classroom, all they saw were familiar faces.

Under the leadership of Liu Fei Fei and Jiang Yu, the girls even arrived earlier than the boys – Zheng Qing greatly suspected where they had their lunch.

”You devilish kids, don’t you rest at noon?” The stick figure behind the door complained ineffectually, throwing a tantrum on the narrow piece of paper.

However, the freshmen had gotten used to its antics and weren’t phased by them.

No one paid attention to it.

Everyone was hugging their textbooks, their eyes squinting, trying to squeeze in a few more minutes of sleep before the class officially began.

Li Meng had even fallen fast asleep, her head on Jiang Yu’s leg, making a purring sound like a kitten, not even waking up when the boys walked past the table.

This harmonious and peaceful atmosphere came to an abrupt end at half-past one.

The sound of footsteps echoed in the hallway, better than an alarm clock.

Almost everyone sprung up from their desks in an instant, sitting up straight.

The stick figure behind the door also stopped his tantrum, silently hiding in the corner of the paper, making himself a bunch of lines.

The little elves, who were leisurely cleaning the classroom before, quickly packed up their tools and sat orderly along the edge of the blackboard. They gathered their translucent wings, beaming at the young wizards trying hard to wake up.

The classroom door was pushed open with a whoosh.

”Class begins!”

Ms. Emma’s confident voice echoed in everyone’s ears.

”Awesome... and powerful...” Zheng Qing beat his internal drum in awe.
