High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 271: Chapter 195: Pushed Again_1

Magic can always create miracles.

In all senses of the term.

After wasting two Armour Horses and using three shortcuts, Zheng Qing miraculously arrived at the Office of the First University Student Council, ten minutes before the stipulated time and signed in on time.

Standing at the entrance of the office building, Zheng Qing couldn’t help but praise the campus workers’ committee in his heart.

If it weren’t for the committee’s requirement that each patrol team member must be familiar with the campus’s pathways and buildings, he would never have found this concealed building in such a short period of time.

It is a six-story black building located in the public area of First University. It’s managed by the students, therefore, often referred to as the ’students’ office building’.

Most of the offices and activity rooms in the office building are occupied by First University’s five student unions and Club Union. Therefore, many of the people coming and going in the lobby of this building wear robes adorned with symbols representing their identities.

Symbols such as the regular tetrahedron of First University, the α symbol of Alpha Academy, the ring symbol of Jiuyou Academy, etc.

Compared to the secretive, gloomy atmosphere of the Workers’ Committee office building, the students’ office building, though entirely black, feels more lively and energetic.

And its main entrance is right at the front, not needing to wait for any special opening time.

Zheng Qing is particularly pleased with this.

Because several humongous student organizations are officed here, and recruitment season happens to be in full swing, many freshmen are here for retests or interviews, filling the corridors on both sides of the lobby.

Zheng Qing squeezed his way through the bustling crowd and arrived at the door of room East 105.

The door to this office was wide open and there were no students queuing outside of the door.

Perhaps the chatter of the young wizards in the corridor disturbed Shen Tu Yu Lei’s card-playing, right now there weren’t any Peach Charms on either side of the door. The Door Gods were nowhere to be seen, leaving only a white tiger that looked like a big cat lying on the protruding door edge, carelessly licking its paw.

The office door was wide open, and there were several small tables arranged inside. Two people sat on each side of the tables, talking with each other. Due to the distance, Zheng Qing could not hear clearly.

”Hello?” Zheng Qing stood at the door, peeked inside and cautiously greeted.

”A freshman?” A crisp voice came from behind, giving young Zheng Qing a start.

Before he could turn around, a strong force from behind pushed him hard into the office, causing him to stumble.

”Don’t block the door... Where did these two lazy buggers from the door go?! Don’t they know that many strangers will be coming to this building today? What if a big demon slipped into the office!”

The crisp voice rattled on like machine-gun fire:

”Where are the people? What are the members of the Foreign Affairs Department doing? Why can’t they even watch the Door Gods on the door? Don’t they know they need to do more than just sitting behind their desks silly when the freshmen come?”

Zheng Qing finally straightened up and turned around.

Behind him was a female student.

A senior student.

More accurately, a beautiful-faced third-year senior student with a side ponytail, wearing a red robe.

Zheng Qing raised his eyebrows high.

He clearly remembered this face.

A few months ago, when Zheng Qing accidentally stumbled upon the global Wizard’s entrance exam, it was this witch who pushed him into the examination room of Jiuyou Academy.

”You... You...” He raised his hand and pointed at the witch in front of him, stuttering excitedly.

”I know I’m quite popular.” The witch slanted her mouth and gave him a glimpse: ”But don’t look at me like that, a lovesick guy looks really silly. Don’t think about pursuing me. I have decided to stay single until I become an officially registered wizard. Of course, if you can become ’Lei Zhe’ of Jiuyou Academy in your sophomore year, I’ll give you a chance~”

After speaking, she flirtatiously winked at Zheng Qing then, carrying a faint scent of jasmine, darted past him like a gust of wind.

Zheng Qing stood there, gaping at her ’ta-ta-ta’ fading silhouette, deeply impressed in his heart.

What kind of thought process does one need to jump through so many topics in just a few sentences!

”Vice Chairman Korma,” a few students behind the office desk stood up uneasily and nodded to the girl in acknowledgment.

One tall male wizard whispered, ”Minister Codex asked us to demonstrate the professionalism...and authority of the Foreign Affairs Department. That’s why we...”

”So you dumfoundedly sat behind the desk looking all dopey?” The prim woman, called Korma, looked slightly displeased, ”We are an organization serving students, what need is there for authority? As for professionalism, a bunch of greenhorns who haven’t even received their registered wizard certification, what professionalism has to be bragged about!”

The few members of the student council reluctantly nodded their heads, refraining from voicing any objections.

”Come here,” Korma motioned to Zheng Qing.

Zheng Qing was momentarily startled before swiftly obediently walking over.

”He is the new student we just met at the door. He probably came for the interview. You guys should improve your service consciousness and actively serve them,” she said.

Korma took the documents from Zheng Qing’s hand and casually flipped through them, abruptly lifting her head with surprise flashing in her eyes.

”Are you the scholarship student from Jiuyou Academy who just started and was almost expelled?” As she said this, she pulled a pencil from her pocket and, while frowning slightly, began chewing the end of it.

Zheng Qing grimaced at how the smooth, wooden pencil soon bore a line of small teeth marks which made his own teeth ache.

”So, cancel the previous condition,” the vice-chairman of the student council retracted the pencil and looked at Zheng Qing in all seriousness, ”you must obtain the status of ’candidate Lei Zhe’ after the final exams in your freshman year to become my boyfriend.”

The officials next to them dropped their heads deep into their chests, their shoulders trembling slightly.

Zheng Qing looks at this high-ranking student council member with her off-kilter behavior, feeling regret for the first time, deeply questioning his choices.

If the student council in the first university is filled with such bizarre existences, then he absolutely needs to reevaluate his choice of a suitable student organization.

Fortunately, the performances of the other officials are quite normal.

”We are delighted that you came to attend the interview of the Foreign Affairs Department of the First University Student Council,” a short wizard squeezed over from the side, smiling as he handed Zheng Qing a note. ”This is your interview serial number. After the parrot calls your number, go to the back examination area to find your interviewer. We hope your appraisal goes smoothly.”

Having said this, he pointed to the big parrot squatting not far above their heads.

”Minister Codex is currently not here,” the short wizard turned to look at the vice-chairwoman of the student council, speaking cautiously, ”if you have any other matters, I can help you contact her.”

”She seems to be even busier than Augustus,” Korma shook her head and walked away, her ponytail swishing behind her in an elegant arc, ”I’ll be in the next big office, ask her to hurry back to preside over today’s new member recruitment and report to me about the matter that the school workers committee spent most of yesterday on. The staff committee said the information has already been sent to the Foreign Affairs Department.”

The club members nodded in quick succession in agreement.

”Also, quickly get these two ghosty heads back on the door!” Before leaving, Korma once again turned and angrily tapped the heavy wooden door of the office.

The wooden door groaned ominously.

The tiger holding its head with its paws curled up tightly in the corner of the Peach Charm plate.

It wasn’t until the vice chairman’s figure disappeared from everyone’s sight that they all breathed a heavy sigh of relief.

”Is she always so...” Zheng Qing carefully chose his words, gingerly inquiring the wizard next to him. ”Eccentric?”

”Good phrasing!” the short wizard gave a thumbs-up, with an appreciative look on his face, ”Being able to select such elegant wording for her, you’ll definitely be able to adapt to the student council’s work... of course, that’s provided you pass this interview.”

Zheng Qing gave a wry smile.
