Elderly Prince: My Spirit Increases by 1 Point Daily

Chapter 215: Chapter 214: Everything Under Control

In less than an hour, all told, from leaving to returning, the group of fools who had been preparing to frame Yun Liyue were utterly wiped out. Not a single one was left.

To Xia Wuyang, this was a trivial matter. But to the Divine Capture Sect and Emperor Xia, it was undoubtedly a vicious slap in the face.

”Those bastards! This is utter lawlessness! Do they have no regard for Us? Do they have no regard for the Great Xia Dynasty?!”

Upon receiving the news, Emperor Xia flew into a rage. These Divine Constables were the investigators he had personally appointed. For the majority of them to be killed in such a short time was a clear provocation against him.

Sun Wuyang’s expression was grim. ”The only traces at the scene are from Arhat Fist. To kill dozens of Grandmasters in such a short time with an ordinary technique like Arhat Fist... the murderer must be a Super Grade Celestial Human. Moreover, based on my investigation, the technique used is different from that of the thief who plundered the Inner Treasury, the National Treasury, and Qianqing Palace. It’s hard to say if that thief has a way to conceal their methods, or if this is another person entirely.”

”They were focusing all their efforts on tracking down that thief, only to meet with such a disaster. It’s highly probable they discovered something, which is why the culprit silenced them. Even if this murderer isn’t the thief, they must be connected,” Emperor Xia said with conviction. ”Therefore, investigate all of their findings from the past few days. See if they made a major discovery. Otherwise, why would they be silenced?”

Sun Wuyang nodded. ”Rest assured, Your Majesty. I already have people investigating.”

The few remaining Divine Constables from the Divine Capture Sect were trembling, while their Chief Constable was seething with rage. After all, the men who died were his.

What they didn’t know, however, was that these Divine and Famous Constables hadn’t died because they had uncovered something, but because they were preparing to victimize someone else.

Therefore, no matter how hard they investigated, they would never discover the connection to Yun Liyue and Elder Qing Yin.

After all, the Shadow Guard had already confirmed that the affair involving Yun Liyue and Elder Qing Yin was a setup orchestrated by Xuan Nu Palace; there was nothing left to investigate.

The deceased Divine Constables and Famous Constables had found nothing on that front. On the contrary, they had fallen for Xuan Nu Palace’s plot.

This had inadvertently cleared Yun Liyue and Elder Qing Yin of any connection to the matter. At the same time, Yun Liyue received word that she had nearly been arrested by the Divine Capture Sect and thrown into the Celestial Prison.

Fortunately, the Shadow Guard had discovered the plot to frame her just in time, allowing her to escape this fate. And the ones behind the frame-up were, once again, from Xuan Nu Palace.

While she was puzzled as to why the Shadow Guard had come to her aid, the image of that mysterious person inexplicably surfaced in her mind once more. ’Could this matter be related to him?’

’No, that can’t be right. The Shadow Guard serves Emperor Xia; they are his right and left hands. How could they possibly be influenced by some mysterious person? It must just be a coincidence.’

’Xuan Nu Palace may be powerful, but they’re nothing compared to the Shadow Guard. It’s not at all strange that the Shadow Guard would uncover their plots and schemes.’

As for Xia Wuyang, with an entire palace of small animals serving as his inside agents, and with Shadow Guard Chief Zheng Zhicang and Grand General of the Imperial Guard Tantai Zhan acting as his eyes and ears, every move made by the Divine Capture Sect and Sun Wuyang was under his gaze. Not a single detail could escape his notice.

Xia Wuyang could detect any development the moment it happened, so he had no fear of Sun Wuyang and the Divine Capture Sect ever tracing things back to him.

Xia Wuyang was even considering whether to subjugate the Chief Constable of the Divine Capture Sect and turn him into another one of his agents. However, the Chief Constable was a Celestial Human at Super Grade Perfection, and it would be risky to control him without the use of Spiritual Shackles.

’I only have three Spiritual Shackles, and all of them are currently in use. I can’t enslave another person, so I’d better let this go for now.’

’Besides, if even the Chief Constable of the Divine Capture Sect became my slave, Sun Wuyang’s situation would be just too pitiful. The great Celestial Eye, the number one Divine Constable of a century ago, leading the Imperial Guard, the Shadow Guard, and the Divine Capture Sect on a manhunt, only to have all three groups be my puppets... That would be a little too tragic.’

At this thought, Xia Wuyang couldn’t help but crack a small smile. He wondered what Sun Wuyang, the Celestial Eye, would think if he ever learned the truth.

’And then there’s Emperor Xia. If he found out that Tantai Zhan and Zheng Zhicang were both my men, what would he think? The look on his face would surely be interesting.’

He pushed the thoughts aside. Seeing that dawn was breaking, Xia Wuyang ceased his cultivation and rose to his feet. He planned to go out and enjoy some breakfast, then perhaps ”trouble” himself to favor a few Jiangnan Beauties before returning to the Practice Room to continue his cultivation.

His Cultivation Foundation was nearly stable. In just a few more days, once it had solidified, he could consume the eight-hundred-year-old Monkey Wine and the Blood Lotus Fruit, raising his Cultivation to Super Grade Perfection.

After that, he would begin cleansing the last of the filth and impurities from his body. Once that was complete, he could condense a True Qi Seed and step into the True Monarch Realm.

That day was drawing nearer and nearer. It wouldn’t be long now.

Once he possessed the power of the True Monarch Realm, combined with his already Extraordinary Refining God Cultivation, Xia Wuyang would be a formidable figure even among other True Monarchs.

Even if he still couldn’t match the Royal Family’s old ancestor, who was at the Three Spirits True Monarch Level, the gap in their power would no longer be that great.

Celestial Eye Sun Wuyang’s investigation continued, but with Xia Wuyang aware of his every move, it was utterly useless.

Even on the rare occasion that Sun Wuyang did uncover something, Xia Wuyang was able to remedy the situation in time, steering suspicion away from both himself and Yun Liyue.

With the cooperation of Tantai Zhan, Zheng Zhicang, and so many animal spies, Celestial Eye Sun Wuyang was like prey caught in a spiderweb; he no longer posed any real threat.

As for the slain Divine and Famous Constables, the investigation into their deaths turned up nothing, just as expected. The authorities couldn’t figure out what clues the constables might have found to get themselves killed, nor could they even determine the true reason for the murders.

This left Celestial Eye Sun Wuyang feeling helpless, to say nothing of Emperor Xia. The Emperor’s temper had been foul of late; he had executed dozens of Palace Attendants and even had several Courtiers slain during the morning assembly. For a time, panic filled the imperial court and beyond, and no one dared to risk his ire.

The Princes and Princesses had also been keeping a low profile, not daring to cause any trouble for Emperor Xia for fear of getting caught in the crossfire. Even the number of Princes and Princesses plotting against Xia Wuyang had dwindled significantly; they too had no desire to incur the Emperor’s wrath at such a time.

’He’s just an elder Crown Prince on his deathbed, anyway,’ they thought. ’He’ll be gone in a few months. There’s no need to go out of our way to target him, not when he has so little time left.’

Provoking Emperor Xia over an elder Crown Prince who was already dying would simply not be worth the risk.

The days passed one by one. Before he knew it, Xia Wuyang’s Foundation had stabilized. It was time to break through to the next realm.
