I Contracted All Ancient Divine Artifacts

Chapter 107: Chapter 6: Research Project – Mechanical Ascension

The interior of Titan City was even more bustling than what they had seen from the Transport Ship.

It resembled a real city of technology, a cyber metropolis, which was completely discordant with the apocalyptic wasteland.

Under the blue-violet neon lights, most of those walking the streets were robots.

They had various appearances, representing different types of work: transportation, security, law enforcement, and other activities.

Rarely a few looked like humans, but they had mechanical limbs attached, looking quite strange from a human aesthetic perspective.

Not giving Han Zhan much time to observe, the black magnetic levitation vehicle carried them to the Mechanical Research Institute.

The sensor doors immediately opened, and they were ushered into the interior of the Mechanical Research Institute.

Han Zhan noticed that when the black magnetic levitation vehicle arrived, Wang Chunyu slowly backed away.

The tiny movement did not attract attention; everyone’s gaze was firmly locked outside.

Han Zhan also took a few steps back, following him, and at that moment, the car door opened, and mechanical arms like octopus tentacles surged in!

They flexibly grabbed the slaves that were being transported.

With screams echoing, those mechanical arms retracted suddenly, destination unknown.

Seeing this scene, Han Zhan became increasingly certain that Wang Chunyu had been to the Mechanical Research Institute before; otherwise, how could he explain it? Could he have the ability to foresee?

At this point, Wang Chunyu still didn’t know that Han Zhan had started suspecting him.

He had only promised to lead people to a place of painless death; other things were not within his promise’s scope.

The mechanical arms continued to seize people, and the chaos lasted for a while until most of the people around them had been taken away, leaving only a few standing alone, luckily surviving.

”Go!” Wang Chunyu suddenly turned his head and told Han Zhan, then quickly dashed outside the car.

Reacting, Han Zhan hurriedly kept up, and the two left behind those who didn’t understand, starting to rush deeper into the Mechanical Research Institute.

”When did you discover?” Wang Chunyu asked without turning his head as they ran quickly.

”I’m not one to easily trust people; those who are overly enthusiastic without reason are always treated with suspicion.” Han Zhan’s words made Wang Chunyu pause for a moment.

He could only mutter, ”That’s a good habit.”

”It’s this way. Those mechanical arms have a grabbing range, starting from the black magnetic levitation vehicle and stretching within a thousand-meter radius. Once we leave this range, we’re temporarily safe.”

”How do you know all this? Who exactly are you?” Wang Chunyu didn’t answer Han Zhan’s question, and the two quickly moved through the passage.

Indeed, after they ran beyond a thousand meters, those mechanical arms no longer targeted them.

New mechanical arms slowly snaked out from doors like giant pythons, precisely capturing the previous survivors.

It was only then that Han Zhan had the chance to carefully observe.

The places these mechanical arms extended from were all silver-white doors, spread around like a honeycomb.

Looking upward, there were at least a dozen such doors on each level. The higher up, the fewer doors, forming an inverted cone shape.

The higher areas were obscured by bright light.

Initially, the mechanical arms that appeared came from the higher areas, then down to the next level, and so on.

It seemed there was an order to these mechanical arms capturing test subjects.

”We must leave the netting area before the last layer of mechanical arms captures everyone.” Wang Chunyu reminded.

”Netting area? Aren’t we already out of the thousand-meter range?”

”The thousand-meter range is just a warning line. When there are no slaves within that line, the program defaults to releasing toxic mist to completely purge the netted area, not sparing even the tiniest dust cell.”

While speaking, Wang Chunyu didn’t stop; he reached a special door.

This door’s color differed from the previous ones, which were silver-white, while this door was gray.

At present, this door was tightly closed; if not for the visible seams, it was indistinguishable from the surrounding walls.

Seeing Wang Chunyu expertly touch this door, activating a semi-transparent electronic code, he quickly input the password, and upon verification, the gray door instantly opened.

”Quick, come up here. This door only opens for ten seconds; it’s an emergency escape door.” Wang Chunyu said, gesturing for Han Zhan behind him to follow.

Seeing this, Han Zhan’s suspicion deepened. ”Are you from Can Shang Company? Otherwise, how could you know about this emergency escape door, let alone the password?”

”I’m not. There’s no time to explain now. Get on the elevator first; when we reach our destination, you’ll understand!” Wang Chunyu’s tone was urgent, sounding genuine.

Han Zhan thought for a few seconds before stepping up.

As soon as he entered the escape door, it shut immediately. Through the escape door’s view, he saw deep purple mist suddenly billowing out, enveloping the entire netting area.

Seeing this, Han Zhan believed all that Wang Chunyu had said was true, but there was still much confusion regarding his true identity.

When the elevator doors opened again, it was no longer gray walls; it transformed into a silver-white passage.

These passages crisscrossed, leading to various areas.

If someone had never been here before, finding a way out from such an extremely complex labyrinth would likely be very difficult.

Without any visible sign of Wang Chunyu finding his way, he had already brought Han Zhan through twists and turns to a special room’s entrance.

Han Zhan looked up and saw the description of the room above the door: ”Research Project - Mechanical Ascension.”

Seeing this name, Han Zhan suddenly had a bad premonition.

But Wang Chunyu had already once again skillfully opened the laboratory’s door.

The anticipated ambush didn’t occur.

Only the slight ticking of instruments could be heard; the whole room was very quiet.

Han Zhan let down his guard, following Wang Chunyu into the laboratory. ”Those dogs at Can Shang Company are absolutely confident in their technology. The Mechanical Research Institute is their key project head, so the guards here are relatively few. The only way in is to become a slave research subject.”

Wang Chunyu didn’t turn around, explaining to those behind him.

”Is this your destination?” Han Zhan looked around, quickly locking onto a target.

That was a massive transparent water tank.

The cylindrical transparent water tank was filled with some kind of pale green unknown liquid.

Inside this cylindrical water tank, a young girl was connected by numerous tubes.

Her eyes were tightly closed, and countless tubes connected her to a gigantic electronic instrument.

At this moment, on the electronic equipment, a line like an electrocardiogram was slowly pulsating.

When Wang Chunyu also looked up at this place.

The girl in the cylindrical transparent water tank suddenly opened her eyes abruptly, eerily meeting his gaze.

”You’ve come.” A mechanical electronic synthetic voice suddenly emanated from the massive electronic instrument.

The electrocardiogram-like sensing line pulsed and changed dramatically.

”I’ve come.” Wang Chunyu responded with a hoarse voice.
