Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 1644: Chapter 1646: The Reason for Being a Supervisor Guard

”What happened next?”

”Then I was rescued.” Cheng Cheng said, ”Actually, at that time, I was already about ten years old and hadn’t gone to school. My adoptive father told me he had nowhere to go and was completely out of money, asking if he could stay at my home for a while. Of course, I agreed. He stayed with me at home. Although he had some issues, he insisted on reading every day. Seeing me lazing around all day doing nothing, he insisted on teaching me to read and write.”

Cheng Cheng looked at Chiang Xiao and said, ”My learning was initiated by him; he taught me to read and write. Later, our village chief discovered he had an excellent literary talent and asked him to teach at the village school. The villagers paid him some money, and the village brigade also allocated a little salary to him.”

Chiang Songhai was amazed, ”So, he was a teacher then?”

”Yes.” Cheng Cheng nodded and smiled, ”Every day at home, I taught him how to appear particularly impressive, like a teacher. If he did anything inappropriate or said anything wrong in class, I would cough to remind him, and he would know not to continue. If he did well, I gave him a thumbs-up. Of course, when it came to cultural subjects, he was never vague; he was knowledgeable and spoke vividly, and the students all liked him very much.”

Chiang Xiao and Meng Xinian exchanged a glance, neither having expected that all these years, Ah Liu still lived such a life.

If that happened when Cheng Cheng was about ten years old, it should have been not long after Chiang Qingzhu left Siyang Village, when Chiang Xiao was around three, that Ah Liu had already wandered to Province X.

Cheng Cheng must have been very clever and smart as a child, which enabled him to learn with him and turn Ah Liu into a teacher in the village.

Imagining their classroom situation, Chiang Xiao felt both comforted and saddened.

Cheng Cheng laughed, ”Of course, our village was very poor, so don’t think of the teachers there like town teachers. We actually just had about ten students, each bringing their desks and chairs from home, then gathering in the village ancestral hall. That blackboard was something the village chief walked a long way to the town school to beg for. The classroom wasn’t really a classroom, and there was only that one teacher. Some students’ tuition was just a few sweet potatoes. So, to this day, my adoptive father has never been recorded in any teacher’s file, and after the village built a school building four or five years ago, he didn’t teach anymore as the town sent formal teachers to the village.”

Chiang Xiao could actually imagine such a situation.

She murmured, ”That is already very good.”

”Yes, it was very good.” Cheng Cheng said, ”He taught me for about four years, then I went to participate in the Supervisor Guard selection and joined the Supervisory Guard Team.”

”Why did you think of becoming a Supervisor Guard?”

”To tell the truth, you might not believe it.” Cheng Cheng suddenly looked at Meng Xinian and said, ”My adoptive father told me to. One day, he awoke from a dream and then told me that many bad people, wearing long white clothes, were caught by people in uniforms. He said that those in uniforms were good people and told me that I should wear such uniforms in the future too.”

Chiang Xiao and Meng Xinian were both taken aback.

Chiang Xiao felt something odd in her heart.

Bad people in long white clothes?

Caught by people in uniforms?

Why did it seem like those people in white coats to her?

Meng Xinian held Chiang Xiao’s hand, noticing she was lost in thought.

”Little.”
