Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 1628: Chapter 1630: The Jealous Teacher

At the time, Liu Guoying was already taking it very seriously, and Chiang Xiao was mentally prepared for it.

Following her teacher to do some charity work—how could she have any objections?

”For the exhibited works, as long as they have a bit of charm, they’ll do; there’s no need for masterpieces,” Liu Guoying added. ”Director Jin’s intention isn’t to sell them at high prices. Instead, the hope is to get more organizations involved and encourage them to pay attention to education in impoverished towns and villages.”

Chiang Xiao indicated that she understood.

”These ten paintings—I think you can choose three from the practice pieces you painted in Shitou Town. As for the rest, you’ll have to decide. Turn them in to me by next weekend.”

”Got it.”

”And for the three pieces to be sent for the competition—if you’re stuck, come talk to me.”

”Understood, teacher.” Chiang Xiao hadn’t given much thought to that yet. At the moment, she was in a bit of a hurry to get back to her dorm and see what kind of changes had happened with Ye Wanqing.

Specifically, to see if she and Deng Qingjiang really had rekindled their old flame.

However, she thought it was probably unlikely. After all, it hadn’t been that long, and Ye Wanqing wouldn’t let herself seem so cheap, would she?

In her previous life, Deng Qingjiang had pursued her for quite a long time, considering that he was so much older than her and had a family already.

”By the way, teacher, has your wife ever considered going back to work?” Chiang Xiao suddenly thought of a question.

Liu Guoying was stunned. ”What are you trying to do?”

Chiang Xiao instantly burst out laughing. It seemed her teacher knew her well. She had barely asked a simple question, and he immediately guessed what she was plotting.

”Here’s the thing—I’m planning to open a shop to sell tea and snacks. But I can’t possibly stay there and keep an eye on things all the time, so eventually, I’ll need to find someone trustworthy to be the manager and handle things. The more I think about it, the more I feel that your wife would be perfect for the job.”

In the past, Cheng Qiulian hadn’t done much due to health reasons. But after recovering, she’d become particularly industrious, often roasting pumpkin seeds and peanuts herself to give to Chiang Xiao. It could be said that if Chiang Xiao hadn’t repeatedly declined, Cheng Qiulian would probably have single-handedly supplied her lifetime’s worth of snacks.

Moreover, she was kind-hearted but not easily pushed around. Most importantly, she was someone Chiang Xiao absolutely trusted. So, she figured if Cheng Qiulian could help as the manager, she could rest assured about her Youqingwei shop.

”You go ask your teacher’s wife yourself. If she’s interested, I won’t stop her,” Liu Guoying said with a sidelong glance at her. ”But you can only explain it objectively. Don’t go spicing things up to tempt her into it. Let her make her own choice—got it?”

Chiang Xiao pouted. ”Got it. Teacher, aren’t you just trying to pamper your wife so she doesn’t have to do anything and can just eat, drink, and keep you company?”

A workbook came flying at her.

”You little brat! Taking advantage and then acting smug. Do you know how much your teacher’s wife has made for you? Go talk to her yourself! She even knitted two sweaters for you—little brat, and I haven’t even gotten one yet...”

Chiang Xiao quickly grabbed a metaphorical lid to shield herself and ran off.

Her jealous teacher would probably tear her apart later.

She went to find Cheng Qiulian, who indeed had two newly knitted sweaters for her—one white and one light blue. The designs were simple but looked great and had a trendy touch.

Chiang Xiao loved them.

She told Cheng Qiulian about her plans for the shop. Cheng Qiulian seemed a bit tempted but said she’d think it over.

”Teacher’s wife, let me take you to the shop one day to check it out. Then you can decide if you want to do it or not. Later on, I’ll also hire other staff for the shop, so your work wouldn’t be tiring. You’d just be helping me keep an eye on things.”
