Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 1297: Chapter 1298 So Many Coincidences

”Let’s go, let’s go down the mountain to take a look.”

Meng Xinian, carrying the game in one hand, reached out with the other to take hers.

As soon as they descended the mountain, Chen Yin burst out excitedly upon seeing Meng Xinian, ”Xinian, Xinian, I’ve seen Xiao Qi’s photo! I’m sure it’s her, it must be her. Come take a look!”

The photo had already made its way into his hands, and Chiang Xiao had no idea how he had convinced Blue Shirt to give it to him.

Meng Xinian threw the game to the ground, walked over, and took the photo.

He spotted the small mole on the girl’s nose at first glance.

Indeed, it looked just like Chen Qi.

Chen Qi was five years old, and he and Chen Yin were already in their early teens, with memories well formed.

He still remembered what the little girl looked like back then, especially the small mole on the side of her nose.

Moreover, Chen Qi had been five when she went missing, now not looking much older than seventeen or eighteen, her facial features still hinted at what she looked like as a child. Even if they weren’t exactly as she had looked then, there was still a resemblance to Chen Yin.

He could also confirm that the girl in the photo must be the Chen Family’s daughter, Chen Qi, who had been missing for over a decade.

However, they had been searching for so many years without any news, and now to suddenly encounter a clue in such a mountain inn was too...

He couldn’t find the right words to describe it.

”Is it her?” Chen Yin asked tensely.

He was sure himself, but it wasn’t necessary to get his best childhood friend to confirm once more.

”There’s a seventy to eighty percent chance,” Meng Xinian habitually said, never speaking in absolutes without evidence.

He believed in evidence, not subjective guesswork.

”If you say it’s seventy to eighty percent, then it must be!” Chen Yin exclaimed.

At that moment, Xu Yiqiu was deep in conversation with Blue Shirt, and had been for quite a while. Suddenly, she exclaimed in surprise, ”What, you’re serious? Such a coincidence?”

Everyone turned to look at her.

Xu Yiqiu hurriedly explained, ”I just asked this gentleman, and he says his sister is in the same country I am – in the same city, even! His sister attends the school I’m most familiar with! Oh my goodness, what are the chances of such a coincidence?”

Chen Yin immediately became agitated, ”Can we get in touch with her?”

Blue Shirt responded somewhat embarrassedly, ”It’s really not easy. We have to make long-distance calls, and our family isn’t well-off. My sister went with our aunt, who covers all her living and schooling expenses. We only get a phone call or a letter from her once in a long while. So trying to contact her is quite challenging.”

In that era, going overseas wasn’t as easy as it would become later, and there was no internet for instant overseas communication.

”Teacher Xu, didn’t you say...”

”Yes, yes, yes,” Xu Yiqiu interrupted Chen Yin before he could finish, pressing on, ”Just give me a name, and I can call back home and have someone help look for her. Knowing which school she attends, it won’t be difficult to locate her! Chen Yin, I’ll help you search. We’ll definitely find her, so don’t worry.”

”Thank you!”

Meng Xinian turned to Blue Shirt and asked, ”Was your sister found, or did you buy her?”

Quickly, Blue Shirt waved his hands, saying, ”Ah, our family couldn’t afford to buy a child to raise. Besides, I already have three brothers. Why would we buy another child? My mother found my sister back then. We searched for her family for a long time, but never found anyone, so we raised her as our own.”
