Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 1287: Chapter 1288: Boyfriend Lends Me

Meng Xinian slightly furrowed his brows and followed them.

Upon reaching Xu Yiqiu, she took his arm and softly said, ”Our leader said that there’s a mountain ahead called Sunset Mountain. It offers a beautiful view at sunset, but you need to climb up the slope to see it.”

Xu Yiqiu pointed to a nearby slope dotted with wildflowers and occasional exposed rocks.

It indeed looked quite steep.

She clung to his arm, her body leaning closer, and a wave of her perfume wafted into Chen Yin’s nose, leaving him somewhat dazed.

Chen Yin hadn’t expected Xu Yiqiu to suddenly be so affectionate, and his body stiffened slightly.

Feeling this, Xu Yiqiu slightly tilted her face, looked up at him with a giggle, and said, ”I’m used to it abroad; men there are very chivalrous. It’s just that the slope is difficult to navigate, and I was hoping you could help me up, Chen Yin. You don’t mind, do you?”

”Chen Yin!”

Wang Yi’s voice entered his ears, carrying a slight tremor. Chen Yin immediately gently withdrew his arm from Xu Yiqiu’s hold.

”Perhaps, Professor Qiu could accompany you up?” Chen Yin apologetically said to Xu Yiqiu.

The Professor Qiu he mentioned was the leader of their drawing group outing and also a professor at the art academy.

Xu Yiqiu slightly tilted her head and glanced at Professor Qiu, who was speaking with Ye Xiaoning and the others. She spread her hands in a somewhat helpless gesture, ”As you see, Xiao Ye and the others are Professor Qiu’s students. This trip is meant to be both fun and educational, so I doubt he’ll have time for me.”

Saying this, she turned her smile to Wang Yi. Though middle-aged, her eyes still sparkled with youthful vivacity and clarity, tinged with a hint of allure.

”Miss Wang, you wouldn’t mind lending your boyfriend to me for a bit, would you?”

Asking so directly, with Wang Yi’s manners, it was somewhat embarrassing to outright refuse. But agreeing made her feel incredibly uncomfortable, and she found herself at a loss for what to say.

”Well, it seems Miss Wang does mind,” Xu Yiqiu said playfully, then turned to Xiao Chiang, ”Xiao Chiang, let’s go up together and see the view from Sunset Mountain? Officer Meng looks so strong and capable, I’m sure he wouldn’t mind having us both.”

Saying this, she walked towards Meng Xinian and reached out to take his arm.

Such an act should have seemed overtly feminine, but Xu Yiqiu managed to make it seem so candid and natural.

There was no hint of contrivance; instead, it felt almost rude to refuse her.

It was just helping someone up a slope, declared openly without any hint of ambiguity in front of so many eyes; to refuse would truly be ungentlemanly.

Chiang Xiao raised an eyebrow.

Even Chen Yin couldn’t help but look at her and then at Meng Xinian.

As Xu Yiqiu reached out her hand, Meng Xinian had already sidestepped closer to Chiang Xiao. He let Xu Yiqiu’s hand pass harmlessly by, without even touching him.

”Sorry, I am the Supervisor Guard. It’s not proper for me to get too close to female comrades; it sets a bad example,” Meng Xinian said coolly, then slipped an arm around Chiang Xiao’s shoulder and lowered his head to ask her, ”Do you want to go up?”

Too close to female comrades?

Sets a bad example?

Now he was practically holding Chiang Xiao in his arms.
