Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 1017: Chapter 1018: Grand Art Exhibition

Go to Capital City?

Chiang Xiao was stunned for a moment.

”When are we going?”

”The day after tomorrow. It just so happens to be the weekend, and the school will assign a teacher to take you there, so go home and talk to your grandparents and pack your luggage.”

”Is it a must to go?” In fact, Chiang Xiao wasn’t too eager to go, as she didn’t have a good impression of Capital City. Moreover, Meng Xinian had returned and would be in City M, which would make meeting up more convenient. If she went to Capital City for a month, it meant they would not be able to see each other for that month.

Liu Guoying glanced at her and said, ”That brings us to another matter. If it weren’t for this additional matter, and if you really didn’t want to go, I wouldn’t force you. After all, other students are very eager to go.”

”What is this other matter? Can you just tell me everything at once?”

”What’s the rush?” Liu Guoying picked up a book and tapped her on the head. ”In the middle of the month, the internationally renowned Painter Xu Yiqiu will be returning to the country to hold an art exhibition, and what’s more, she will hold a three-day seminar, which you could attend while also taking the opportunity to visit the exhibition!”

Xu Yiqiu?

Chiang Xiao was stunned for a moment.

She was of course very familiar with the name Xu Yiqiu.

Having gone abroad with her parents from a young age, she studied under her father Xu Geng, but her talent was astonishing, as she had already won a plethora of awards overseas by the age of twenty. Previously, not many people in China had heard of her renown, until after the opening up of the country, when news of F nationals performing superbly in various fields abroad gradually began to filter back into the country.

Xu Yiqiu was a chip off the old block, and had outshined her father; after winning several major awards at the age of twenty, her paintings were continuously praised for improving and constantly surpassing herself.

Xu Yiqiu should be about thirty-five or thirty-six by now, she remembered that later, her classmate, Deng Qingjiang’s sweetheart Ye Wanqing, had always wanted to find an opportunity to become Xu Yiqiu’s disciple.

But for some reason, Xu Yiqiu had rejected her.

Ye Wanqing, who was a narrow-minded person to begin with, felt animosity towards Xu Yiqiu after being refused, and it was said that after winning a few awards with her own paintings, she even badmouthed Xu Yiqiu during an interview with the media.

However, in her previous life, Xu Yiqiu didn’t return to the country to hold an art exhibition this early. Why had she come back so soon in this life?

”I heard that Xu Yiqiu is returning at the invitation of the Capital Art Academy, which is holding a Spring Art Exhibition, inviting several well-known domestic and international painters. This is likely to be the first big event in the domestic art world; even if not for Xu Yiqiu, the works of several domestic painters alone are worth observing and learning from,” Liu Guoying explained.

He mentioned Xu Yiqiu specifically because he felt that Chiang Xiao’s delicate and versatile painting style had a certain degree of harmony with Xu Yiqiu’s. Maybe observing Xu Yiqiu’s works and attending her seminar would be greatly beneficial to Chiang Xiao’s improvement in painting skills.

As for studying, such an unprecedented major art exhibition obviously couldn’t be fully appreciated in just one day; that would merely be a cursory glance.

Initially, he thought this opportunity was very rare for Chiang Xiao, but he was troubled at the thought of her having to take so many days off to go to Capital City, fearing it might impact her studies.

It never occurred to him that Fu Mingfeng would mention the educational opportunity in a Capital City middle school, and Liu Guoying was overjoyed, feeling that this completely solved the dilemma for him.

Chiang Xiao could study at a Capital City school for a month and visit the art exhibition after school; she could attend the seminar on the weekends and only needed to take one day off. How perfect.

”Okay, I’ll go,” Chiang Xiao immediately agreed.

She was certainly very interested in the art exhibition and in Xu Yiqiu.
