Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 1009: Chapter 1010: Missing Her

He glanced at Chiang Xiao, who was busy nearby, and couldn’t help but wonder if he should find an opportunity to talk to her about finding a way to look for Qingzhu.

However, Chiang Xiao really didn’t seem to want to.

”She’s probably boiling snow to drink right now,” Chiang Xiao, unaware of what her grandfather was thinking at the moment, casually added to their conversation.

”You never know, it’s quite possible,” said Kuang Yunxian. ”The snow there is clean, you can drink it once boiled.”

”Brother Kuang has also been to the snowy mountains?” Chiang Xiao asked.

”I have, when I’m free I tend to travel around. I took a train there for several days and nights. It’s very cold, but the scenery is indeed pretty, magnificent.”

Chiang Xiao felt that this free-spirited lifestyle Kuang Yunxian described was exactly what she had always wanted: free of worries, traveling whenever there’s time, experiencing different landscapes and local customs.

Therefore, she had once felt that she and Kuang Yunxian would get along quite well.

Having him as a travel companion wouldn’t be too bad.

However, she could only think about it, as Tyrant Meng would turn green if he knew she had such thoughts.

She also wondered if he would ever find the time to explore different places with her.

Chiang Xiao sighed to herself.

At that moment, Meng Xinian was stirring noodles in an iron pot with a pair of chopsticks, and without turning around, he asked, ”Where’s the salt?”

”Officer, we forgot to bring the salt,” Dai Gang said.

Meng Xinian immediately turned and glared at him, ”Forgot the salt?”

”We all thought the team was giving us instant noodles, thinking there would be a seasoning packet in the noodles, so we didn’t bring anything else,” Dai Gang said with a grievance.

It was only when they opened the noodle package just now that they realized it wasn’t instant noodles at all, but just flavorless white noodles.

A pot of white noodles boiled in snow water.

Meng Xinian then asked, ”What about oil?”

”None.”

”Soy sauce?”

”None.”

Meng Xinian raised his chopsticks and was about to hit him on the head, ”You have nothing, just boiled noodles in snow water, can you eat that?”

Gong Xinhe fearfully responded, ”We can manage to eat it, but maybe Officer’s taste has been spoiled by the delicacies from your sister-in-law’s house.”

Dai Gang gave him a thumbs up.

Very good, very firm, knowing very well that Officer thinks of his sister-in-law’s portrait every day, yet he chooses to provoke him at this time.

Meng Xinian grabbed a handful of snow and threw it at Gong Xinhe’s face.

”You need less?”

He glared at Gong Xinhe.

The things Chiang Xiao sent, when did these brats ever eat less?

And yet they dared to talk about him.

”Since you can eat it, you’ll eat plain boiled noodles for a week straight!”

Gong Xinhe was dumbfounded.

”No, Officer, I meant just for this meal. Tomorrow we go down the mountain, and once we’re back at the base, won’t we be able to eat braised pork? After all, tomorrow is New Year’s Day!”

Meng Xinian waved his hand dismissively. ”Braised pork? None!”

New Year’s Day it is.

His little girl was sixteen this year!

He had told her he’d just wait till she was sixteen!

He wondered whether he could persuade the Officer to approve his marriage proposal early, whether that would work.

He just couldn’t resist thinking about her.

He wanted to hold her, to kiss her.

This year, was she celebrating New Year at home in City M with Chu Liang?

Just thinking about Chu Liang being able to spend every New Year with her made him feel extremely sour.

He reached for the pendant around his neck, pulled it out into his palm, opened his hand, and brought it to his lips to kiss it.
