Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 972: Chapter 973: What’s the Plan?

This Peace Talisman should at least ensure his safety.

That way, she could rest a little easier when he was away, otherwise, she would definitely be too worried this Spring Festival, an uncomfortable feeling.

Cui Dayuan and the others also didn’t know if they were just unlucky.

In the past, Chiang Songhai had stumbled upon that tomb unintentionally, and later managed to find it again with others, but Cui Dayuan and his group had been wandering around for a month without any success.

Ji Chunlai called and said, ”It seems they are getting anxious. I ran into them in the mountains yesterday and overheard them discussing whether they should find a local villager to guide them.”

Originally, they had the excuse of conducting research in the mountains, so they definitely couldn’t ask for a guide, but now that they’ve been unable to find the place for so long, they must be truly desperate.

This was also a concern that Chiang Xiao had always held.

If they decided to look for a guide, just by asking around the village, many would surely mention her grandfather. Now there were also two other people who might attract their attention, Ge Dejun and Xu Linjiang.

Lately, Ge Dejun and Xu Linjiang, heeding Chiang Xiao’s words, had been single-mindedly clearing the land to plant chestnut trees without exploring deeper into Bai Gu Mountain. However, the villagers of Siyang knew of their relationship with Chiang Songhai and that they used to frequently go into the mountains.

A single question would reveal it all!

”Are the villagers still just wandering around the outskirts when they go into the mountains?” Chiang Xiao asked.

Ji Chunlai hummed in affirmation, ”Of course, they still don’t dare venture deep. I’ve heard there are big snakes and big cats in the deep mountain, that’s no joking matter. Also, Old Man Chiang warned Cui Dayuan and his group not to go deep into the mountains, saying there were ghosts.” He paused and then added, ”But from what I’ve seen, those guys want to go deep into the mountains but are scared. They explored a bit further each time they went, each time a little deeper.”

”Have they mentioned anything about it being close to the New Year and possibly going back to their hometown first?”

”Nope,” Ji Chunlai replied. ”Yeah, I don’t know if they’re planning to take a break for the New Year. I’m thinking of taking a break myself; I’ve been going up the mountain every day recently and I’m exhausted, Sis.”

Ji Chunlai was also starting to complain.

The group was really proactive, truly going up the mountain every day. Sometimes he felt like slacking off and getting some sleep, but seeing them going up forced him to follow.

It was nearly killing him.

”Haven’t you made quite a bit of money selling wild fruits?”

”Sis, I do love money, but you can’t earn it all. I’d like to hang out with friends occasionally, have a drink, and chat, you know? With the New Year approaching, I too want to take a holiday.”

After thinking it over, Chiang Xiao said, ”Stick it out for a couple more days, I’ll be on break soon and then I’ll head back.”

She decided to discuss it with her grandparents and spend the New Year in Peace Town.

Because she wouldn’t be at ease not keeping an eye on those people.

Later, the reason Deng Qingjiang was convinced that the drawings she made were mysterious and related to the tomb was something she had to clear up.

”You’re coming back? That’s great! I’ll visit your house to wish you a Happy New Year!”

Ji Chunlai hung up the phone, and just then, Hu Xibing came out and overheard the last part. He suddenly slapped him on the head.

”You wouldn’t be harboring any ulterior motives, would you? Let me tell you, Chiang Xiao already has someone, you don’t stand a chance.”

Visiting her house for New Year’s greetings? What was he plotting?
