Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 956: Chapter 957 He Broke His Promise

”Grandma brought over a quilt for you.” She pouted her lips.

Meng Xinian tossed the quilt aside onto a chair in an instant.

Chiang Xiao gasped in surprise.

”Hey, what do you mean by this?”

”I don’t want to share a quilt with you,” Meng Xinian declared with conviction.

”But I do!”

”Really? Such a hypocritical little girl,” Meng Xinian said as he turned off the light and reached to pull away her quilt, but Chiang Xiao held on tight.

In the darkness, Meng Xinian pressed down on her.

Her lips were captured by his fervent kiss.

In that moment, Chiang Xiao felt as if her entire soul had taken flight.

She let go in a half-conscious daze, allowed him into her quilt in a blur, was embraced into his arms groggily, and was kissed until her entire body went limp.

”Meng Xinian...”

His name slipped from her lips, a quiet sound, a bit weak, a bit breathless.

”Little, call me Xinian,” he murmured against the corner of her lips, unwilling to leave.

”...Xinian.”

Meng Xinian’s heart softened – a complete, utter mess – and he kissed her lips once more.

He had broken his word again.

He had promised to wait until she was sixteen, but he simply couldn’t wait any longer.

As he told Chiang Songhai and Ge Liutao, she was willing to face life and death with him, so how could he possibly control his deep affection for her? This girl could only be his, and he would never let go, no matter what the future held.

The next day.

Chiang Songhai and Ge Liutao had been up for half the day, yet there was still no movement from Chiang Xiao’s room.

”Uncle Hai, do you think Xinian and Little slept well last night?” Ge Liutao had been swayed by Meng Xinian the previous evening, but now she was regretting it upon waking up.

But what good was regret the morning after?

She even went to press her ear against the door several times, but inside it was dead quiet, not a single sound.

Chiang Songhai pulled her to the living room and said helplessly, ”What are you doing?”

”I’m just worried...”

”I trust Xinian,” Chiang Songhai said. ”He wouldn’t do anything to hurt Little. If they really, really did that, it would definitely be with Little’s consent.”

Ah?

Ge Liutao was taken aback.

”Little is sixteen after the New Year. In our countryside, it’s common for girls to marry at sixteen. If they’re willing, an early wedding celebration is also fine. You know how capable Xiao Le is, so there’s no need to worry too much.”

He now trusted Chiang Xiao too much.

Ge Liutao thought about it and agreed, finally easing her heart.

In fact, aside from kissing, Meng Xinian had indeed controlled himself and hadn’t done anything else.

He simply held Chiang Xiao and fell into a deep sleep.

He had never slept so soundly before.

Chiang Xiao, too, was exhausted, and she slept heavily in his arms.

The two of them didn’t wake up until noon, almost at the same time.

As soon as she opened her eyes, Chiang Xiao felt an arm wrapped around her waist, and her face flushed red as she recalled the previous night.

That was her very first real kiss.

The last time had been while feeding him water, merely their lips touching, and at that time, she had been worried about him and hadn’t thought much of it.

But last night, Meng Xinian had almost...

He had almost made her lips swell with his kisses.

”Awake?”

Meng Xinian’s deep voice reached her ears, and Chiang Xiao’s ears grew hot. She tried to escape from his embrace, but Meng Xinian seemed to sense her intent, pulling her into his arms and rolling over to pin her beneath him, pressing a kiss on her lips.

”A good morning kiss.”
