Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 955: Chapter 956: Middle-aged Meng Xinian

Bluff, a big bluff.

Shameless, truly shameless!

She rolled her eyes at him.

Meng Xinian’s lips quirked up, he walked towards her, crouched down in front of her, and looked at her, ”Little, I’m going to sleep now, how about you?”

”You sleep on the floor!”

Chiang Xiao always felt something was off, hadn’t they not even started dating?

Hadn’t he even started pursuing her?

It seemed like from the start, they were engaged, and then somehow, it had led to this step of sharing a bed, wasn’t it too fast?

Meng Xinian gazed intently at her, ”I like you, Chiang Xiaoxiao.”

Chiang Xiao’s heart gave a fierce thump.

Just moments ago, she was pondering over the fact that he hadn’t pursued her, that they hadn’t dated, and then he came out with such a statement, was this a confession?

She looked at him.

Meng Xinian took her hands into his own, kissed her fingertips, and with a voice low and husky with a hint of sexiness, said, ”I like you more than you like me. A lot. So much so that every time I see you, this place starts to ache.” He pulled her hand to rest it over his heart.

Chiang Xiao could feel his heartbeat.

Forceful, thumping, thumping.

”Chiang Xiaoxiao, I’ve set my eyes on you for a lifetime, if I can’t marry you, I’d rather live alone forever.”

Chiang Xiao stared at him dumbfounded.

Listening to his words, she didn’t know why, but a scene slowly emerged in her mind.

A middle-aged man sitting in a wheelchair was leaning over his desk writing.

There were strands of white in his hair, but his profile was still exceptionally handsome.

The vast study room was empty but for him.

The whole room was filled with an atmosphere of solitude.

She recognized him, that was Meng Xinian.

Meng Xinian in his middle age.

Chiang Xiao’s heart skipped a beat.

Could that be Meng Xinian from a past life?

Had his legs become disabled?

Was he still alone in his middle age?

”Little, I’ve never had this feeling before, the feeling of wanting to spend a lifetime with a woman, apart from you, I can’t imagine myself being with any other woman, it can only be you.”

With other women, he couldn’t even bear the thought of it.

Perhaps it was for this reason that he looked down on Meng Chaojun even more, why was he with his mother back then, and now he could be with Duan Qingqing like that?

”You too, it can only be me.”

One second he was deeply confessing his love, the next second, Tyrant Meng was back. ”You’re mine in this lifetime, can only be mine, no matter how good other men are, you are not allowed to spare them a second glance.”

The scene in Chiang Xiao’s mind vanished in a whoosh.

Before her was the spirited and unimaginably handsome young Meng Xinian again.

”Domineering,” she muttered quietly.

”Hmm?”

Meng Xinian suddenly picked her up, Chiang Xiao almost cried out in surprise, but remembering her grandparents might hear her, she immediately covered her mouth.

Meng Xinian saw her eyes wide with accusation and couldn’t help chuckling softly, ”I’m really tired, I’ve been wanting to sleep since morning.”

He hadn’t slept for three days.

Chiang Xiao, who had just been resenting her grandparents’ soft-heartedness, felt her own heart soften upon hearing his words.

”I’ll really just hold you to sleep, won’t do anything else, do you believe me?” Meng Xinian laid her down on the bed and climbed in next to her.

”I don’t believe you,” Chiang Xiao’s voice was very low.

The moment he lay down, she became instantly tense.

She clutched the blanket tightly around her, leaving only her head exposed, like an adorably flipped kitten, her eyes following him.
