Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 546: Chapter 547: The First Painting Sold

”Xiao Chiang, is this really painted by you?” his voice trembled, and he felt somewhat guilty for having underestimated Chiang Xiao before.

He was truly like a frog at the bottom of a well!

Great talents have always emerged from the young, truly not to be underestimated, not to be underestimated!

”Uncle Lee, haven’t I been painting here these past few days?” It was just that, before the painting was finished, she wouldn’t let them come in to see it. Chiang Xiao didn’t like others commenting on her incomplete work.

”Yes, yes, yes, it’s just unbelievable, truly unbelievable.”

Chiang Xiao pursed her lips and said, ”However, Uncle Lee, I want to make it clear that I won’t sell this painting for less than a thousand dollars.”

Although she had always thought about participating in art exhibitions to prove her strength, strength comes in many levels.

Chiang Xiao also had her pride in her professional skills, and she would never compare her paintings to the previous one of blossoming riches.

Therefore, she didn’t want to sell any of her paintings cheaply.

”That price is appropriate, appropriate indeed!”

To her surprise, Uncle Lee was not only not angry, but he didn’t even haggle.

Previously, he had clearly had no confidence in her, and she had thought he would offer a price lower than that of the blossoming riches to sell her work.

After all, that person was said to be a painter from the Painters Association, whereas she was just a nameless young girl.

Uncle Lee’s straightforwardness and generosity left a very good impression on Chiang Xiao.

Aunt Lee and her husband exchanged a glance but said nothing.

”However, you will need to frame this painting yourselves,” Chiang Xiao said.

Uncle Lee stood in front of the painting, continually looking at it, and without lifting his head, took it for granted as he said, ”Of course, of course, the paintings I’ve bought before were also framed by myself.”

Chiang Xiao sold her first painting in this life for a thousand dollars and let out a long sigh of relief.

For her, this was another step she had taken.

In her previous life, she had never sold a painting herself; the paintings had been sold, but she hardly ever saw any of the money.

After receiving the thousand dollars, she bought some pastries and brought them back to the guesthouse to give to Uncle Lee’s family of three, and then she checked out of her room, ready to go home.

From this trip, she had made a substantial amount of money, which greatly boosted her confidence.

Uncle Lee insisted that she leave an address, saying that there might be something for which they would need to find her. Chiang Xiao left them the address of Osmanthus Alley and then set off on her journey home.

This time, including travel time, she had been out on her own for four days; Chiang Songhai and Ge Liutao were truly anxious at home.

Although Ge Dejun and the others were worried, they trusted in Chiang Xiao’s abilities more than Chiang Songhai and Ge Liutao did.

On her return, Chiang Xiao brought some pastries and went to see Hu Xibing first, delivering two boxes to him.

”Chiang Xiao, you’re back? It looks like this trip was fruitful again, you seem happy?” Hu Xibing had been genuinely worried about Chiang Xiao’s mood these past days, but seeing her bright smile now, he was relieved at first, and then he suddenly wondered what Captain Meng would feel watching her like this.

Was his influence on her so insignificant?

But then he thought again, considering Captain Meng and Du Jinruo probably didn’t know what was going on, maybe he wouldn’t care?

”The gains were indeed significant. Brother Hu, I’m always troubling you, thank you so much.”

Both times coming back, she had asked Brother Hu to go to Osmanthus Alley with messages, despite him running his own shop, and she was always troubling him.
