Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 529: Chapter 530: What Should We Do (For Manman+2)

”Of course!”

Zhao Xin, holding the bouquet, hurriedly followed, chasing after them. ”Captain, don’t do it!”

Think about Chiang Xiao!

If you fight with Gao Wei over Du Jinruo, Chiang Xiao will definitely get the wrong idea if she finds out!

But before he could reach the training field, a communications soldier grabbed him, ”Zhao Xin, you have a call, come and answer it right away!”

Zhao Xin, still holding the bouquet, glanced at the direction where the crowd was heading, then at the direction of the communications room, bit his lip, and decided to answer the call first! Anyway, the captain was already on his way, and he couldn’t stop him! And he didn’t think the captain would lose to Gao Wei either.

Zhao Xin ran to the communications room and picked up the phone. Hearing Hu Xibing’s voice, his face immediately soured, ”Brother Xi Bing, why did you choose such a time to call me? Say what you need quickly, there’s big trouble here!”

Hu Xibing was startled as soon as he heard it, ”What happened?”

Zhao Xin couldn’t keep his mouth shut.

He immediately recounted what he had discovered in the auditorium. Hu Xibing’s expression became odd on the other end, ”You mean to say Captain Meng and Gao Wei are going to fight now? The winner will be Miss Du’s boyfriend?”

”Isn’t that so? Ah, you should have seen the scene just now, many people were even shouting for the captain to apply for marriage tomorrow! But let me tell you, Miss Du Jinruo really is very pretty.”

Hu Xibing couldn’t help but interject, ”What about Chiang Xiao? Captain Meng is, after all, engaged to her.”

”I really don’t know about that,” Zhao Xin said, thinking of Chiang Xiao and then Du Jinruo, troubled, ”I think both Miss Du and Chiang Xiao are great, but no matter what, isn’t Chiang Xiao too young? I reckon, the captain just used her as a shield. Now that Miss Du is here, he should probably break off the engagement with Chiang Xiao, right?”

And just like that, he felt somewhat sorry for Chiang Xiao.

He also thought Captain Meng had been somewhat rash to get engaged to Chiang Xiao so hastily in the first place.

He used to think Captain Meng wouldn’t meet any suitable girls, but now that Miss Du had appeared, wasn’t she suitable?

Actually, emotionally, Zhao Xin was definitely on Chiang Xiao’s side. If Chiang Xiao were over sixteen now, he wouldn’t care about any Du Jinruo, and he would definitely support Chiang Xiao.

But Chiang Xiao was just a little girl at the moment, and in their minds, they never considered that Captain Meng could truly have feelings for her.

They also thought that it wouldn’t be good for Chiang Xiao to be tied down to Captain Meng now.

By the time she grew up, Captain Meng would be nearing thirty.

So, Zhao Xin’s first reaction was, although it was regrettable for Chiang Xiao, if Captain Meng truly had fallen for Du Jinruo, then it could actually be a good thing for both him and Chiang Xiao.

As for the engagement, of course, it should be canceled.

They just didn’t know how to handle the situation yet.

Hu Xibing was already anxious upon hearing this.

”Anyway, this has to be discussed with Chiang Xiao, right? This is a big deal for her. Xinzi, isn’t that the case over there? If a girl gets her engagement broken off, she wouldn’t be able to lift her head in the village, and it would also bring gossip on her family!”

”What should we do? How about I give Chiang Xiao a heads-up first, and I’ll quickly go persuade the captain?” Zhao Xin said with a pained expression, then suddenly remembering something, he quickly asked, ”Hold on, why did you call me in the first place?”
